RAMA is back at it again. It's more about Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen I SAW THE LIGHT is a performance-driven biopic. Tom Hiddleston transformed himself into the late great Hank Williams, and Elizabeth Olsen holds her ground, these two amazing talents burn the screen with such passion and ferocity. The film however is just textbook biopic, nothing that you haven’t already seen before. It’s well-intentioned but at the end of the day, Marc Abraham’s adaption is uninspired. Taika Waititi , who co-wrote and co-directed the vampire spoof What We Do In the Shadows , is in negotiations to direct the third installment of Marvel’s Thor movies, titled Thor: Ragnarok . Chris Hemsworth is reprising his role of the Norse god of thunder. Waititi’s emergence as the choice caps off a round of intense meetings that took place over the last month. Ruben Fleischer, Rob Letterman and Rawson Marshall Thurber were the other directors that were finalists for the gig. Waititi is the latest head-scratcher from Marvel for their pick to direct a big-budget extravaganza, especially one steeped in the Norse mythology and an Apocalypse myth. He wrote and directed episodes of Flight of the Conchords and is a writer on Disney’s upcoming animated feature Moana, which will star Dwayne Johnson. Tom Hiddleston as country music legend Hank Williams is a pretty enticing proposition. The Brit takes on the iconic role in Marc Abraham’s “ I Saw the Light ,” which is set for a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this week. Hiddleston debuted the first clip from the film himself via Twitter. It features Williams at a 1947 recording session of “Move It on Over” before transitioning to life at home with wife Audrey Mae ( Elizabeth Olsen , who I hear is also exceptional in the film). Abraham is best known for his work as a producer on films such as “Bring It On,” “Spy Game” and “The Last Exorcism.” He’s seven years removed from his directorial debut, “Flash of Genius,” another biopic. Hiddleston can also be seen in Toronto selection “High-Rise” from director Ben Wheatley. THR is reporting Jason Mitchell , the young actor making a breakout with his portrayal of rapper Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton , is in negotiations to join the cast of Legendary’s Kong: Skull Island . The move will reunite him with Corey Hawkins , his Compton co-star (he played Dr. Dre) who is already cast in the monster movie. Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Toby Kebbell are also already on the manifest of the ship that takes a crew of explorers to the mysterious, creature-laden isle that is also the home of Kong, the king of the apes. Insiders say that Mitchell will play an easy going pilot. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing the big-budget project, which last week brought on screenwriter Derek Connolly for rewrites as it heads toward a late-October production start in Hawaii.
