Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Christopher Nolan will direct “ Dunkirk ” from his own original screenplay. An epic action thriller, “ Dunkirk ” is set during the legendary evacuation. The announcement was made by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production. The large scale film will be shot on a combination of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format film photography for maximum image quality and high impact immersion. Shooting will begin in May using many of the real locations of the true-life events, which form the background for the story. The cast will be headed by yet-to-be cast unknowns. In the first move since assuming oversight of DC Entertainment’s Vertigo comics imprint from corporate parent Warner Bros., New Line is developing an adaptation of the acclaimed comic by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso. Hardy , who played villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises as well as starred in this summer’s Mad Max: Fury Road, is on board to produce the adaptation with an eye to star. According to Deadline Up-and-coming Brit actor Taron Egerton is in early talks with Lionsgate to star in Robin Hood: Origins as Sherwood Forest’s most famous son. The negotiations have just started and a deal might not make but Egerton, who put in a star-making performance in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service , is clearly top of the list for the project.
