Fight Club writer Jim Uhls has been tapped to write Trent Reznor ’s HBO/BBC Worldwide Productions miniseries  Year Zero . Based on the 2007 album by Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails , the concept recording criticizes the U.S. government -- specifically the Bush years -- and presents a dystopian vision of the year 2022. Reznor has already adapted the album into an alternate reality game. Reznor most recently picked up the Academy Award for penning the original score, with Atticus Ross, to Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Network . He also composed the score for Sorkin’s upcoming adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo . The epic sci-fi miniseries is a co-production of HBO and BBC Worldwide Productions. What has happened with Sony Pictures' plans to mount an exciting new biopic of Cleopatra , with Angelina Jolie attached as the Egyptian queen, based on Stacy Schiff's bestselling book Cleopatra: A Life ? I'm told the director conversation right now is with David Fincher , who just got a Best Director Oscar nomination working with Cleopatra producer Scott Rudin, and who is working with Rudin on the Stieg Larsson novel adaptation The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , also at Sony Pictures. Charlize Theron has inked a deal to star in " Prometheus " for Twentieth Century Fox. Theron joins previously-announced cast of Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender . Ridley Scott will direct and produce the project along with David Giler, Walter Hill and Tony Scott. The Alien prequel is dead and a new Ridley Scott project has been reborn. Fox has announced that instead of making a much-talked about Alien movie, the project has been reconfigured as an original sci-fi movie, titled Prometheus , with Scott still at the helm and with Noomi Rapace to star. Showing how serious it is about the movie, Fox has set a March 9, 2012 release date. Damon Lindelof is working together with Scott on the new script, which was originally written by Jon Spaihts and based on an idea by Scott. Christopher Nolan is looking at some of Hollywood's leading actresses -- as well as a few emerging talents -- for major female roles in The Dark Knight Rises , his next Batman film. Sources tell Heat Vision that Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel are due to test for roles in the Warner Bros. superhero tentpole in the next two weeks. Bond Is Back MGM is announcing that " BOND 23 " is set to go into production in late 2011 and today announced that the 23rd James Bond film will have a worldwide release on November 9, 2012 .  Daniel Craig will be returning as the legendary British secret agent, with Sam Mendes directing a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. That script is being kept under wraps but the story begins after Quantum Of Solace leaves off. The reason for the 007 delay is this: Broccoli and Wilson had been in pre-production on Bond #23 for release in 2011 but then it took almost a year for MGM's future to sort itself out what with the failed auction sale of the studio, then the pre-packaged bankruptcy getting approval, and eventually Spyglass taking over studio filmmaking. "Pump-gun Ronnie" Making His Way To The USA Sony has bought the English-language remake rights to Austrian helmer Benjamin Heisenberg's " The Robber ." Based on author Martin Prinz's source tome, " Der Rauber " tells the real-life story of marathon runner Johann Rettenberger, known as " Pump-gun Ronnie ," who made a hobby of robbing banks. The Austrian-German thriller, which unspooled in competition at this year's Berlin Film Festival, had its German bow in March. This time last year, Sony and Scott Rudin snapped up remake rights to Swedish-language hit "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." The David Fincher-helmed adaptation is currently lensing in Sweden. I'm told that, so far, Scott's favorite is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace . The other names being whispered range from Carey Mulligan to Abbie Cornish, Natalie Portman and Tron: Legacy star Olivia Wilde , the latter of whom met this week. Deadline revealed early this month that Rapace -- who got the female lead in Sherlock Holmes 2 -- was a possibility for Alien. Michael Nyqvist To Play Bad Boy In Mission: Impossible 4 Michael Nyqvist , who played journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the Swedish thriller " The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo " and its sequels, will play one of the lead villains in Paramount's " Mission: Impossible 4 ." Sherlock Holmes 2 To Have A Dragon Tattooed Girl Noomi Rapace , the Swedish star of " The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ," has booked her first English-language role: the plum part of the female lead in Warner Bros.'s " Sherlock Holmes 2 ." The sequel reunites most of the team from the original: Robert Downey Jr . as Holmes and Jude Law as Dr. Watson. Guy Ritchie is back as director while Joel Silver, Susan Downey, Lionel Wigram and Dan Lin return as producers. The logline is being kept under wraps, although it is known Holmes will face off against Moriarty. Also making an appearance will be Holmes' brother, Mycroft. Daniel Craig To Star In The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Daniel Craig has closed his deal to play journalist Mikael Blomkvist in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo , a deal which factors in options for two sequels based on The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest. The novels comprise the bestselling trilogy by late Stieg Larsson. Deadline told you first about the Craig talks, which back in June were hardly a certainty, because there were so many hurdles to jump. I'm told that with a whole lot of juggling between three studios, Craig will be able to make the movies. Already adapted into an award-winning Swedish language trilogy , the English-language version is being produced by Scott Rudin at Sony with Steve Zaillian ("Schindler's List," "American Gangster," the original draft of "Moneyball") currently writing the script.
