Green Lantern 2 To Be Darker & More Action

Green Lantern may have a future on the big screen, but likely not with the same director. Despite the big-budget superhero movie’s disappointing box office performance so far, Warner Bros. executives still want to find a way to make a sequel work. Bringing superheroes from its DC Comics unit to the big screen is a top priority for the studio, and executives believe that the problem with “ Green Lantern ” was in execution, not concept. They even have ideas on how to turn things around next time. “We had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience,” said Warner Bros. film group President Jeff Robinov, pointing to the film’s box office debut of $53 million. “To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action…. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in space versus on Earth.” After its so-so opening, “Green Lantern” fizzled at the domestic box office, ending up with only $114 million. Its overseas performance in i

Do You Really Want Green Lantern Sequel?

Warner Bros. is already planning a sequel to Ryan Reynolds' superhero pic Green Lantern , despite the film’s soft performance at the box office. My review will come later this week and trust me it isn't going to be a nice as Joe D's Review . Sources say Warners still believes in the franchise, even if the studio is “somewhat disappointed” with Green Lantern’s result. Over the weekend, Green Lantern fell a steep 66% at the domestic box office, grossing $18.4 million for a cume of $89.3 million. That’s a big decline. Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said the movie is settling in, pointing out that fanboy pics often see a significant drop-off in their second weekends. Still, Green Lantern fell off more than recent superhero pics Thor and X-Men: First Class . Thor dropped 47% in its second weekend, while First Class dropped 56%. Similar films that have seen the same sort of dip that Green Lantern did include Hulk, which dropped nearly 70

Green Lantern Movie Review By: Joe D

Green Lantern Movie Review By: Joe D I was able to attend Wednesday night’s advanced screening of Green Lantern ! It was practically a dream come true! I finally get to see my most favorite comic hero up on the screen in real life 3D! To say I am a huge Green Lantern fan is almost an understatement. My collection of Green Lantern comics, toys, statues, rings, and other sorted collectibles spans the last 20 years. When I heard that they were finally making a Green Lantern movie, I was beside myself with glee. I think a giggly school girl ‘Tee-hee!’ may have even been involved. With baited breath I waited for anything and everything I could find out. As concept art and cast decisions were announced I became more and more excited. I’ll be honest. A few of the choices had me curious. I realized that when making a live action GL flick, certain details have to be taken into consideration. Making the aliens we GL fans are all too familiar with, come to life; avian Tomar Re, robotic St
