Saoirse Ronan To Star In The Host By Stephenie Meyer

Saoirse Ronan has been set to star in The Host , the screen adaptation of the bestselling novel by Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer . Scripted by Andrew Niccol, the film figures to be one of the hot titles when Inferno launches sales at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival next week. Niccol, who was originally set to direct, might resurface as the filmmaker. Ronan , the Oscar-nominated star of Atonement , The Lovely Bones and most recently Hanna , will play Melanie Stryder, one of the last humans putting up a fight against an alien species called Souls. These parasites invade human bodies, fuse to each person's consciousness and systematically erase their personalities. Melanie is captured by the aliens and implanted by a Soul called Wanderer, something of a legend because of all of the "hosts" she has attached to on numerous planets. Wanderer's goal is to get Melanie to give up the remaining pockets of humans, but instead the alien finds Melanie to be unique in her

Animated Twilight Series Coming Soon?

Don't Get Your Hopes Up Just Yet Animated Twilight series in works? According to reports, after " Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 " and " Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 " there could be an animated Japanese television series in the works. Sounds...er....interesting. At this time, there hasn't been any real news on a series of this kind, however, Kristen Stewart did mention in an interview last year that her character looked Asian in a particular scene and that she looked like an anime character. Of course, that is absolutely no verification that the "Twilight Saga" will be turned into an animated series so until something more official comes in, we'll just have to sit and wonder. I can just imagine the characters now with their enormous eyes that are bigger than their faces. The extremely long eye lashes and short bodies. It makes me laugh just thinking about it. Bill Condon To Direct Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

Bill Condon To Direct Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Has Summit entertainment has  found it's director for the upcoming film Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Bill Condon will be directing the film. Condon credits include Dreamgirls and Gods and Monsters.  Condon was among a list of A-list directors approved by Summit and Twilight author Stephenie Meyer. There is talk that Breaking Dawn will begin shooting will begin in the fall, and I heard the plan is to shoot two films back to back. The Twilight job came open when The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz decided not to reprise, despite directing a film that grossed $707 million worldwide., almost doubling the Catherine Hardwicke-directed original's $385 million worldwide gross. Hollywood hasn't given Summit its due on the Twilight pictures. Like them or not, these pictures have been better than they had to be, given the ferocious fan base. They are exciting movies with a fresh contemporary feel. That Summit keeps

Catherine Hardwicke Confirmed For Little Red Riding Hood Film

Catherine Hardwicke Confirmed For Little Red Riding Hood Film It has been confirmed that Catherine Hardwicke will be directing the upcoming Red Riding Hood film. In 2008, she directed the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling book, Twilight. The film was the first in a planned series produced by Summit Entertainment based on Meyer's four-book series. Production Weekly  is reporting that: Catherine Hardwicke's adaptation of the classic fairy Red Riding Hood has opened offices at Vancouver Film Studios, for an early July shoot. The best-known version of the story—in which a wolf disguises himself to fool a girl delivering food to her sick grandmother in the forest—was published in the 19th century by the Brothers Grimm. Earlier oral versions of the tale, which date back to the Middle Ages, are far darker and sometimes involve a werewolf rather than a wolf; the first published version, by Charles Perrault, concludes with Red Riding Hood eaten by the wolf, with

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Has Sunk Its Teeth Into A Director?

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Has Sunk Its Teeth Into A Director? Has Summit entertainment found it's director for the upcoming film Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn ? We are told that there is a strong chance that Dreamgirls and Gods and Monsters director Bill Condon is the front runner for the directing chair. Condon was among a list of A-list directors approved by Summit and Twilight author Stephenie Meyer. That list included Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola and Fernando Meirelles.  And if Summit wanted a big time director then they just might have found their man. Twilight's New Moon Bootleggers Get Charges Dropped

Twilight's New Moon Bootleggers Get Charges Dropped Charges have been dropped against a 22-year-old Chicago woman accused of videotaping part of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" at a movie theater. Cook County prosecutors on Friday announced in court that they won't pursue charges against Samantha Tumpach. Tumpach was arrested Nov. 28 in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont and faced a felony charge of illegally copying the film. She had about three minutes of "New Moon" on her digital camera. Tumpach has said she was taping her sister's birthday party and wasn't trying to record the movie. The film's director, Chris Weitz, came to Tumpach's defense . He told the Chicago Sun-Times there's a difference between trying to protect a copyright and prosecuting someone who didn't mean to commit video piracy. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

Twilight's Bryce Dallas Howard Explains Taking Over the Role Of Victoria

Twilight's Bryce Dallas Howard Explains Taking Over the Role Of Victoria "Twilight" fans are notoriously fickle when it comes to the actors chosen to bring their favorite Stephenie Meyer character to life. In fact, it's now the stuff of "Twilight" legend that following the announcement that Robert Pattinson's would be portraying brooding vampire Edward Cullen, online petitions circled feverishly, decrying the British actor's participation in the saga. A similar uproar occurred last July, when just weeks before production was to begin on the third "Twilight" installment "Eclipse," Bryce Dallas Howard replaced Rachelle Lefevre as villainous vampire Victoria due to scheduling conflicts. Howard revealed that the prospect of taking over the role Lefevre originated in both "Twilight" and "New Moon" was a bit daunting. "It was actually a really unfortunate circumstance where the actress who everyone really cared

Twilight Saga: Eclipse To Launch In Imax

Twilight Saga: Eclipse To Launch In Imax I am sure the ladies will love seeing Edward and Jacob in the Buff all 53 ft high. "Twilight Saga: Eclipse," Summit Entertainment's third "Twilight" film, will launch in Imax theaters simultaneously with the film's opening on June 30. Summit and Imax, in a joint announcement Wednesday, said "Eclipse" would be digitally re-mastered into the Imax format. It's the first Summit title to be released in Imax theaters. "Twilight moviegoers will have a whole new way to experience this next installment of the series, with the enhanced image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience putting them in the movie," said Richie Fay, Summit's president of domestic theatrical distribution. The first two films have been outsize successes with "Twilight" grossing $380 million in combined domestic and foreign box office while "New Moon" has hit $500 million worldwide in only three weeks. &qu

Twilight's "Breaking Dawn To Be Made Into Two Films?

Twilight's "Breaking Dawn To Be Made Into Two Films? "The two-week $481 million worldwide gross of "New Moon" has vaulted Summit Entertainment into the big leagues, but it also has created a high-class challenge for toppers Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. They will likely have to cut a few big checks if they decided, as rumored, to split Stephenie Meyer's final "Twilight" novel, "Breaking Dawn," into two pictures. Sources said Summit has set Melissa Rosenberg -- who wrote the first three films -- to finish the series, but Summit has to clear several hurdles before Rosenberg learns how many more scripts she'll write. One of those hurdles is figuring out whether "New Moon" director Chris Weitz will respond favorably to overtures from the film company and the cast to shoot two more films, back to back. Summit execs would not comment, but multiple sources said the company wants to go the two-film route, which means reopeni

Twilight:New Moon's Huge Opening Weekend

Twilight:New Moon's Huge Opening Weekend Summit Entertainment's vampire-romance sequel "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" opened even bigger than projected with an estimated $140.7 million in domestic grosses. That represented the third-best bow ever, after 2008's "The Dark Knight" ($158.4 million) and 2007's "Spider-Man 3" ($151.1 million) (more here on decade's top grossing films). Some had wondered whether the fanged phenom would fall precipitously from its outsized first-day grosses. But Saturday boxoffice for "New Moon" proved strong, warranting bullish Sunday estimates. "New Moon" rung up $72.7 million Friday -- the biggest single-day tally ever, including a record $26.3 million from opening midnight performances -- then sunk its teeth into $43.2 million, with Summit penciling in $24.8 million for its Sunday tally. The pic's Saturday-over-Friday decline amounted to a manageable 41%, including the outsized witchi

Mammoth Opening For Twilight New Moon Internationally

Mammoth Opening For Twilight New Moon Internationally Let the Craziness begin. Film Opens at Midnight tonight. These are all estimates. But in Australia today, NEW MOON's midnight results were the highest grossing midnight screening since STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 (which garnered $1.2M USD in May 2005). NEW MOON played on 466 screens and grossed a phenomenal $1.6M. On Wednesday, NEW MOON launched No. 1 in France with 488,000 admissions for its first day from 751 resulting with $4.36M on Day One -- which is 4 times what TWILIGHT did (140,960 admissions and gross $1.15M). Also Wednesday, NEW MOON grossed $2.7M in Italy from 625 screens in its first day of release, with screens still to report. Currently NEW MOON is the 3rd highest Wednesday opening ever in Italy behind HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE and HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. In Spain NEW MOON opened Wednesday with $2.2M from 652 screens. The 3rd best Wednesday opening day ever, just behind HARRY POTTER AND THE

Review Of Twilight Saga:New Moon

Variety Review Of Twilight Saga:New Moon Spoiler Alert-If your going to watch this week u have been warned!! With more bark than bite, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" finds its brooding heroine torn from her depressive, bloodsucking boyfriend and thrust into the claws of a hunky werewolf. That's sort of like being caught between a rock and a hard place (or, in high school terms, between a Goth and a jock), and this second screen installment of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling series focuses, somewhat convincingly, on the emotions of an 18-year-old coping with her undying love of the undead. Carried by Kristen Stewart's compellingly dark performance, but also by helmer Chris Weitz's robust visuals, "Moon" should cause boffo B.O. tides and could outperform its predecessor, which grossed $383 million worldwide. While this second chapter of Summit Entertainment's four-part franchise is as good as "Twilight" and arguably a shade better, it's

Twilight's Edward and Jacob's Love Triangle With Bella

Twilight's Edward and Jacob's Love Triangle With Bella Team Edward and Team Jacob face off in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third film in the vampire series based on Stephenie Meyers' best-selling books, and they share a lot of screen time in the third installment. After Bella (Kristen Stewart) falls for vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) in Twilight, Edward breaks up with her in New Moon, and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) gains traction by supporting Bella in her time of need. It doesn't hurt that he's a buff werewolf who frequently shows off his glistening pecs in the rain. ( Spoilers ahead! ) The third film, Eclipse, brings the love triangle to a boil in a literal three-way scene. "I loved playing with the three characters together," Stewart said. "There's literally a scene where Edward and Jacob, who are mortal enemies, are in a tent with a sleeping Bella in between them. It's a ridiculous circumstance to find yourself in." Lautner

Twilight Saga: Meet The Volturi

Twilight Saga: Meet The Volturi In New Moon You will be introduced to the The Volturi who enforce Vampire laws. Michael Sheen, Dakota Fanning and the gang explain their characters and their powers. The Twilight Saga: New Moon Volturi Featurette The Volturi are the equivalent of a royal family to vampires. They operate from the city of Volterra , Italy. The Volturi have existed for at least three thousand years, if not more. They are the largest coven in existance , followed by Carlisle's family and Tanya's. However, they do not follow a "vegetarian" diet, as seen in New Moon, in which they capture and murder several humans in a carefully planned "meal". They are considered the de facto royal family of vampires, as they are the largest and most influential coven in existence . The Volturi deal swiftly and decisively with anything they consider a threat to their city, or the vampire world. They destroy anyone who attempts to overthrow them, or resist t
