Avatar 2 Announcement Coming Soon

Avatar 2 Announcement Coming Soon James Cameron was in South Korea, once again preaching about how 3D will replace 2D as the standard format for films, TV, laptops, online content. Actually, when I pitched this to 20th Century Fox four-and-a-half years ago, I said, ‘You know, we’re going to spend a lot of money and time and energy creating not only a process but the assets, the CG assets, we call them - all the models of every rock and tree and plant and creature and the muscle rigs for all the creatures and the facial rigging for the main characters and all that’… huge, millions and millions of dollars. So it really makes sense to think of it as the potential start of a franchise, if you will, or a saga that plays out over several acts, each movie being an act of that saga. I’m going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won’t be a rain forest. I’m not saying we won’t see what we’ve already seen; we’ll

Ridley Scott Talks Alien Prequel

Ridley Scott Talks Alien Prequel Ridley Scott is going back to where it all started and will direct the prequel to his "Alien".  He recently spoke to MTV and gave us some great insight to the upcoming film. Here's what Scott had to say about where the production is currently at. As we speak, I've got a pile of pages next to me; it's like the fourth draft. It's a work in progress, but we're not dreaming it up anymore. We know what the story is. We're now actually trying to improve the three acts and make the characters better, build it up to something [we can shoot]. It's a work in progress, but we're actually making the film. There's no question about it, we're going to make the film. He goes on to explain that he is working on getting the screenplay complete so they can find out how much is will cost to make the film. He's also got people working on the films designs. The story is set, the characters are in place, and here

Avatar 2 Will Go Under Water In Pandora

Avatar 2 Will Go Under Water In Pandora We have some interesting news about Avatar and it's sequel. First up James Cameron says a longer version of the film will be back in theaters in August -- and that the franchise will return with a seagoing sequel. Cameron outlined where he sees the adventures of Jake, Neytiri and the rest heading in future films. “We created a broad canvas for the environment of film. That’s not just on Pandora, but throughout the Alpha Centauri AB system. And we expand out across that system and incorporate more into the story – not necessarily in the second film, but more toward a third film. “Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment – a different setting within Pandora. And I’m going to be focusing on the ocean, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won’t be a rainforest. I’m not saying we won’t see what we’ve already seen; we’ll see more of that as well.” The sequel, according

Columbia Pictures Doesn't Want Reitman For Ghostbusters 3

Columbia Pictures Doesn't Want Reitman For Ghostbusters 3 Seems like Columbia Pictures doesn't want Ivan Reitman to direct the upcoming film Ghostbusters 3, they feel that they should go in a different direction and get a younger director for the film. In the same sense as they have done to the Spider-Man franchise by hiring on (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb. But hold on Columbia,Reitman's old contract — made at the height of his and Ovitz's powers — still gives him exceptional creative control over the series, including director approval. "Those deals were made in the eighties,” explains one insider. “So his rights in this circumstance have a great deal of teeth.” Therefore, while it’s true that Reitman can’t force Columbia to make Ghostbusters III with him, he can make it nearly impossible for the studio to make the film without him. In fact, a source tells us that Reitman and all three original principals (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis …

Ghostbusters 3 Bill Murphy Confirmed

Ghostbusters 3 Bill Murphy Confirmed Bill Murphy has confirmed his involvement with the upcoming Ghostbusters 3 film. This is great news for fans out there. In Jaunary we brought you some news from Sigourney Weaver when she spilled the beans on how they were going to take the movie. It's been rumored that Murray’s character Dr. Peter Venkman would appear in Ghostbusters 3 as a ghost. This is another bit of news that he's confirmed. In fact, it was his idea. He explains in the interview that he wouldn't do the movie unless he was a ghost! Here's what he had to say, I ’ll come back in Ghostbusters III only if I get to be a ghost. I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.’ So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film. Please Leave A Comment- Source- mailonline

Ivan Reitman To Direct Ghostbuster 3

Ivan Reitman To Direct Ghostbuster 3 A few weeks ago, "Ghostbusters" writer and star Harold Ramis revealed that the long-awaited third movie in the series is planned for a 2011 release. This news broke only a short time after "Avatar" star Sigourney Weaver speculated that Bill Murray's character Pete Venkman might appear in the movie as a slimer ghost, and that Oscar, her character's son from the second movie, would be a full-fledged Ghostbuster. Ivan Reitman, director and producer of the first two movies, stopped to chat,he shied away from addressing Weaver's spoiler-y speculation, but he did have some things to say about the general state of development for "Ghostbusters III." Ivan Reitman Reitman said: That the script from "Year One" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky is in and that a second draft is currently in the works. He also confirmed that he will indeed be returning to direct the coming sequel, as had been previousl

Avatar Tops The 1 Billion Dollar Mark

Avatar Tops The 1 Billion Dollar Mark Twentieth Century Fox's "Avatar" reached a worldwide cume of $1.02 billion through Sunday, leading the most lucrative Christmas season in history. "Avatar" becomes the fourth highest grosser ever, behind James Cameron's "Titanic" ($1.8 billion), "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" ($1.12 billion) and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" ($1.07 billion). "Avatar" should soon eclipse the latter two pics. Over New Year's weekend, "Avatar" grossed an estimated $68.3 million from 3,461 runs at the domestic B.O. -- the best number ever for a film in its third weekend -- for a cume of $352.1 million in its 17th day in release. Overseas, the 3D sci-fi fantasy added $133.5 million for a foreign cume of $670.2 million in 21 days in release. Of "Avatar's" global total, $66.4 million has come from Imax theaters, a record for the large-format

Ghostbusters 3 To Be In Theaters In 2011

Ghostbusters 3 To Be In Theaters In 2011 Here comes the Ghostbusters question: What’s up with part three? Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future ... GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011 … Oh, and I have two one-of-a-kind Ghostbuster yarmulkes sent by fans. Ghostbusters 3 Spoiler Sigourney Weaver Spills The Slime

Ghostbusters 3 Spoiler Sigourney Weaver Spills The Slime Channel 4 news in the UK recently did an interview with Sigourney Weaver to talk about the upcoming James Cameron film Avatar. During the interview she started talking about Ghostbusters 3 So here is what Weaver had to say: Don’t know if I’m going to be in it, I have had a couple of calls asking "would you read the script." To me it looks like she has already taken a look at the script. I know that my little son Oscar, who was kidnapped from me… I think he has grown up to be a Ghostbuster. Oscar was the little baby in Ghostbusters 2 that was kidnapped in the film. I might be in it, I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don’t think I will have a big part. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it… he’s a ghost. What Dr. Peter Venkman as a ghost? What happened? Did they kill him off and he returns from the dead. Can not wait to hear more news on this film. Please Leave A Comment- Source-UKChannel4

Avatar Getting Encouraging Feedback About The Film

Avatar Getting Encouraging Feedback About The Film Avatar screened last night in London for members of the press and US screenings started this morning. I saw the film first thing today, and embargo keeps me from saying anything about it. Twitter has been fairly quiet, with those who’ve seen it abiding by the embargo so far. But some UK outlets don’t care as much about the embargo, and there is already a full-fledged review in The Sun and some useful comments in The Guardian. The Sun’s ‘review’ is typical for the paper — thin and shallow. But it is quite exuberant. “The final battle scene is 20 minutes long and absolutely mind-blowing,” the paper says. “It is overwhelming, and that is because you are emotionally tied up in the characters and the story.” The Guardian is more interested in preserving the embargo, but does pass along a couple of rumor-busting notes that are very much worth paying attention to: “And there have been a lot of rumours…Rumours that the 3D effects were making

James Cameron Promises Avatar Sequel

James Cameron Promises Avatar Sequel You've heard some of the buzz surrounding filmmaker James Cameron's upcoming 3-D sci-fi epic movie Avatar? Well, Cameron has a message for the haters: You ain't seen nothing yet. Coming up for air after "four and a half years of intense work," Cameron insists in an exclusive interview that he "consciously made a decision not to read any article or news breaks about Oscar buzz" while he labored to finish the film and also admits that he's been "well aware" of some of the negative fan buzz surrounding the project, based on screenings of early footage and trailers. "I know there's been a lot of talk and speculation about it, but it's kind of like the generic Oscar buzz out there—it's pretty ridiculous when people haven't even see the movie," he says, addressing the issue. "All anyone has seen is the 25 minutes of various scenes we showed at Comic-Con—and that's not the mo

Avatar Will Cost 500 Million After All Is Said And Done

Avatar Will Cost 500 Million After All Is Said And Done When James Cameron makes a movie he goes big. "Titanic" is a great example. But he definitely makes his money back in the end and then some. Mr. Cameron’s “Titanic,” which took in more than $1.8 billion at the worldwide box office after its release in 1997, was a major corporate event for the News Corporation, then about a third the size of the current conglomerate, which has roughly $30 billion in annual sales. Less than a year after the release, the News Corporation raised nearly $3 billion in a public offering of shares in its filmed entertainment group, partly on the strength of “Titanic.” (It bought those shares back four years ago.) Will Avatar do the same? Movies looks great and I am looking forward to seeing the film when it comes out this year. Can a movie studio make money on a film based on an original and unfamiliar story, with no Hollywood superstars, a vanishing DVD market and a price tag approaching $500
