IRON MAN 3 Review. It's More Than Its Previews

IRON MAN 3 Review By: MattInRC Summer 2013 kicks off with the excellent IRON MAN 3 , a film that proves it's more than its previews. Marvel Studios has been on a dominating roll of late. After 2012's amazing The Avengers , the studio known for Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk could have rested on their laurels, content to churn out successful but empty follow-ups (George Lucas, are you listening???). Not Marvel: it's changed the way we watch movies, now and forever. No one waited around until after the credits pre-2008 when Iron Man first debuted; now, we hope other franchises get the hint. Marvel has defined the connected universe, making each of their releases almost like essential rights of passage. Even 2010's rushed Iron Man 2 couldn't lessen demand for a super-hero mashup that put DC on suicide watch. As IRON MAN 3 soars into theaters this week, we're reminded once again of why we love this franchise and the studio who continues t

IRON MAN 3 Iron Patriot Poster

Forget War Machine , this is Iron Patriot . Both are played by / operated by / essentially are Don Cheadle's character, James Rupert "Rhodey" Rhodes, but in Iron Man 3 his armour's been given both an upgrade and a flash new stars and stripes paint job. Where the sparks are from is a mystery, what weapon that is on his back unclear - something machine gun-like is a safe bet - but it's good to see that the former War Machine is going to get in on the action in Shane Black's upcoming comic-book threequel. Jessica Chastain Could Join Iron Man 3

Deadline is reporting that Jessica Chastain is back in the mix to play a starring role opposite Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man 3 . The role is a sexy scientist every bit as smart as Tony Stark. Chastain, who last year starred in T he Tree of Life, The Help, Take Shelter and The Debt , was originally offered the role but it looked like she was going to be preoccupied making a movie with Joel Edgerton and Samantha Morton. I think that movie was The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. She also had scheduling issues involving the Kathryn Bigelow-directed Sony Pictures film about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Marvel then began lining up meetings with actresses like Diane Kruger, Gemma Arterton and Isla Fisher . But all that has changed as Chastain’s movie has been pushed, the Bin Laden scheduling was worked out, and it looks like she’s going to get the role after all. She will join Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and potentially Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley in the third installment of

Ben Kingsley Vs Iron Man?

Though most of the recent Marvel hoopla has been about the impending arrival of Avengers Assemble, no one should forget that we have a third Iron Man outing scheduled to start shooting in May. But while the film already has a co-writer / director in Shane Black and a built-in hero in Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark, nothing has been revealed about any possible villains. But now we know that Ben Kingsley is in final talks to play a bad guy. Which one? Fans of the comic shouldn’t immediately leap to the conclusion that he's the Mandarin, since Marvel and Disney are naturally staying quiet over the details. Quick pre-spoiler warning for the next chunk, since no one knows for sure if the plot points mentioned will crop up, but just in case… Rumours have spread since March and Latino Review's report that Tony will get involved with nanobot technology, as seen in Warren Ellis’ 2005 six-issue Extremis comic book run. The high-tech solution turns Stark into the walking embodiment

Doc Savage Film To Be Tackled By Shane Black

Doc Savage Film To Be Tackled By Shane Black Harry Knowles from AICN bumped into Screenwriter Shane Black and got a little news about Doc Savage script was going. A Doc Savage project has long been in development hell; mooted as an Arnie vehicle a decade ago. A classic "adventurer", the character stems from the pulp magazines of the 30s and 40s. Described by principle writer Lester Dent as a cross between Sherlock Holmes, Tarzan and Abraham Lincoln, Clark Savage Jr was trained as a youth by a team of scientists who made him practically superhuman: the colour of his skin, eyes and hair lent him the alias The Man of Bronze. He appeared in getting on for 200 novels between 1933 and 1949 (not to mention a handful in the 1990s), plus comics, a radio series, and a camp low-budget George Pal movie in 1975. According to Black, his script will be firmly set in the 30s, from which he believes Savage is "inseparable", and will be an original story that "attempts to encaps
