Giovanni Ribisi Joins Sean Penn In The Gangster Squad

Giovanni Ribisi has landed a co-starring role in Warner Bros' The Gangster Squad , the period crime drama Ruben Fleischer is directing that stars Sean Penn as Mickey Cohen, and Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin as members of the elite cop squad that are after him in 1949 Los Angeles. Anthony Mackie and Michael Pena also are aboard. Will Beall wrote the script. Langley Park Pictures and Lin Pictures are producing. Ribisi, repped by CAA and Management 360, will play Conway Keeler, a cop in the group who is a master of electronics and wires. Tom Hanks Thinking About "Sleeping Dogs" Tom Hanks may be the first actor to board Paramount’s “ Sleeping Dogs ,” Kathryn Bigelow’s follow-up to “ The Hurt Locker .” The project was previously known as “ Triple Frontier ” and reunites Bigelow with her “Hurt Locker” scribe Mark Boal. The story is set in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, which is a haven for organized crime, and centers on five men of various ages working in the zone. The project became a hot property in the wake of “Hurt Locker’s” Oscar wins, and since the winter months of the awards season many names have popped up in association with “Dogs,” whose title may change yet again, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Sean Penn and Jeremy Renner . Sean Penn On Board For Three Stooges Movie Hollywood heavy Sean Penn, who dropped out of the Farrelly Brothers’ “Three Stooges” movie during the bust-up of his marriage, is back on board to play middle Stooge Larry, Bobby Farrelly told the Track . Penn took a Tinseltown time-out back in June when he announced he was forgoing future film projects to focus on his family as his marriage to Robin Wright Penn went down the tubes.
