Ryan Gosling 's directorial debut Lost River will hit theaters after all. Lost River , which Gosling also wrote, centers on a single mother ( Hendricks ) who enters a dream-like world while her son struggles to make ends meet and survive. The film was met with mixed reactions at Cannes. THR's film critic Todd McCarthy wrote: "As beautifully presented as the imagery is, however, none of it registers deeply because it all seems like borrowed goods. It’s flashy enough to engage the eye, but the experience is akin to flipping through a gorgeous art photography book featuring an assortment of artists rather than one." Warner Bros. has confirmed plans for a limited release for the film, which stars Christina Hendricks and Saoirse Ronan .
