By Brandon Wolfe Despite the wildly uneven quality of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, the one thing pretty much everyone can agree upon is that J.K. Simmons’ performance as J. Jonah Jameson was terrific. Simmons’ interpretation of Peter Parker’s blustery Daily Bugle boss was so memorable that the creators of the Andrew Garfield Spidey reboot films notably did not use the character, presumably in a tacit acknowledgment of how unfillable those shoes were. Simmons owned that character to such a fundamental extent that replacing him seems unfathomable in a way that wasn’t even true of Spider-Man himself. The premium network has greenlighted an original series, entitled Ash vs. Evil Dead , that will serve as a follow-up to the horror comedy film franchise, it was announced Monday. Original Evil Dead director Sam Raimi , producer Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell will return for the 10-episode half-hour series, slated for a 2015 premiere. The series marks Raimi and Tapert's return to Starz following their Spartacus run. Raimi revealed plans to continue the Evil Dead story on the small screen back at Comic-Con. Campbell reprises his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. After stealing every scene in " The Way Way Back ," Sam Rockwell is in early talks to star opposite Rosemarie DeWitt in MGM and Fox 2000's " Poltergeist " reboot, TheWrap has learned. Rockwell is currently weighing several movie offers and hasn't officially decided to take the part, though an individual familiar with the project tells TheWrap that Rockwell is now the filmmakers' top choice -- and that the actor is intrigued by the prospect of a lead role in a studio movie produced by horror maestro Sam Raimi. Rockwell's representatives did not respond to multiple requests for comment. MGM, which is co-financing, had no comment. The Possession Review By: MattInRC The Possession is nothing more than cheap cliched horror about...you guessed it...demonic possession. Horror flicks have become so predictable and repetitive lately (with the exception of the disturbing The Human Centipede ) that the genre seems completely out of ideas. The Possession doesn't help kick things out of their doldrums, delivering every single plot cliche available, including the cut-to-black screen followed by the single lower-end piano strike.
