Filming is well underway on the sequel to Deadpool , the foul-mouthed, fourth wall-breaking superhero movie that broke expectations and records last year. Josh Brolin was announced back in April as the primary villain of the piece, the bionic mutant future-soldier Cable. As shooting is due to kick off soon on another round of crazed superhero action for Deadpool and friends, the cast is growing by one. The Strain's Jack Kesy has been cast as a villain that 20th Century Fox won't identify yet. Deadline, which broke the news of Kesy's casting, speculates that he could be Dublin-born mutant and Deadpool enemy " Black Tom " Cassidy. In the comics, he's Banshee's cousin and battles the Merc with a Mouth regularly. And his powers are, shall we say, interesting... He can bond with, manipulate and project energy through plant life (we can see the Happening jokes being spit-balled) and blast people with a wooden object, usually a shillelagh. So, definitely not a slight cliche, then? Whoever he turns out to be playing, Kesy joins a cast that includes star Ryan Reynolds and the returning likes of Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al) Stefan Kapacic (Colossus), and Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead). THR is reporting Josh Brolin has nabbed the hotly contested role of Cable opposite Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2 , The production has been on the warpath to find the right actor for the role for months, with Michael Shannon almost nabbing the role and Stranger Things star David Harbour on the shortlist. (There were even rumors of conversations with Russell Crowe and Brad Pitt.) In the end, Brolin emerged as a surprise contender, notching his second Marvel Comics character in the process; the actor plays the villain Thanos in the Marvel Studios movies. Sources say Brolin's deal is for four movies. David Leitch is directing the sequel to Fox's surprise blockbuster, with the Twentieth Century Fox movie heading toward a June production start in Vancouver. THR is reporting Atlanta break-out Zazie Beets will play Domino in the upcoming Deadpool sequel. Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, made the announcement via Twitter, with the caption "domino effect". In Marvel's comic book mythology, Domino is a mercenary who mostly works on the side of the good guys. Debuting in the same issue as Deadpool himself (1991's New Mutants No. 98), she is another survivor of a government program to create the ultimate soldier. Instead of adamantium claws or hyper-active healing powers, she can affect probability itself, creating "good luck" for herself and those around her — something she's put to use serving alongside Cable, another fan-favorite X-character who'll be showing up in the new movie, but has yet to be cast.
