EW is reporting the CW is starting to development on a show based  The Notebook into a TV series. While the film used Gena Rowlands as Allie Calhoun, illuminating the history of her grand love affair as a younger woman (played by Rachel McAdams ) with Noah ( Ryan Gosling , launching a thousand memes), it appears the show may be more focused on just the version of the story that takes place shortly after World War II. The story will follow Noah and Allie as they start their tentative romance and build their lives together. Though the channel is more known for its superheroes and action adventure slant, it has been trying to broaden itself recently, with shows such as Reign and Jane The Virgin. Nicholas Sparks’ production company is driving this one, with Sparks looking to have input as an executive producer and Joyful Noise writer/director Todd Graff penning the pilot. Gosling is presently in negotiations to join the follow-up to the classic sci-fi film, which is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve ( Prisoners ) and produced by original Blade Runner helmer Ridley Scott. No word yet on Gosling’s role (or Ford’s, for that matter; there’s still that pesky “replicant or human?” question lingering about), but filming is scheduled to begin in Summer 2016. Ryan Gosling 's directorial debut Lost River will hit theaters after all. Lost River , which Gosling also wrote, centers on a single mother ( Hendricks ) who enters a dream-like world while her son struggles to make ends meet and survive. The film was met with mixed reactions at Cannes. THR's film critic Todd McCarthy wrote: "As beautifully presented as the imagery is, however, none of it registers deeply because it all seems like borrowed goods. It’s flashy enough to engage the eye, but the experience is akin to flipping through a gorgeous art photography book featuring an assortment of artists rather than one."
