Here an update of the Neill Blomkamp’s new ALIEN movie. Bloody Disgusting is reporting.. “Alien 5 is still very much in the works, as Fox remains hot on the idea. Blomkamp continues to work on the script (only an outline existed previously) and refine the tale he is telling. Ridley Scott is still producing, but has insisted on Prometheus 2 being made first.” PROMETHEUS 2 may start production next year and then we’ll see about Blomkamp’s new ALIEN movie which he is currently writing. Ridley Scott will produce this next ALIEN movie which Blomkamp previously promised wouldn’t tread on the toes of Scott’s “Prometheus 2″ which itself also promises to divert away from ‘Alien’ franchise. Just published in June, ' The Cartel ' offers a fictional take on the notorious Sinaloa drug boss whose daring July 18 escape from a Mexican prison dominated international news headlines. Fox and Ridley Scott are teaming up to adapt The Cartel , Don Winslow's much-heralded novel that has parallels to the real-life escape of drug lord El Chapo. Scott will direct the movie and produce with his Scott Free Films president Michael Schaefer. Shane Salerno will write the script and also produce via his shingle, Story Factory. The movie deal went down Wednesday night after intense interest from the major studios and producers. Execs and observers had been eyeing the project not just for the ripped-from-the-headlines similarities but also for the acclaimed reviews of the book that are praising it as a south-of-the-border version of The Godfather. In addition to heading home with Chewie , he’ll next face down Ryan Gosling in the long (and I do mean long) delayed sequel to Blade Runner . Gosling is presently in negotiations to join the follow-up to the classic sci-fi film, which is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve ( Prisoners ) and produced by original Blade Runner helmer Ridley Scott. No word yet on Gosling’s role (or Ford’s, for that matter; there’s still that pesky “replicant or human?” question lingering about), but filming is scheduled to begin in Summer 2016. Actor set to revisit Rick Deckard. By Brandon Wolfe Harrison Ford will continue his ongoing franchise reunion tour as Alcon Entertainment has announced today that the actor is officially set to reprise his role of Rick Deckard in the sequel to 1982’s landmark sci-fi noir Blade Runner . Academy Award nominee Denis Villeneuve, the director of Prisoners , is in talks to helm the film, which is slated to begin shooting in Summer 2016. Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, has written the script for the new film along with Michael Green, based upon a concept originated by Fancher and the original film’s director, Ridley Scott. Alien gets a resurrection thanks to Instagram. By Brandon Wolfe District 9 director Neill Blomkamp created a stir recently when he posted to his Instagram page a series of Alien concept art images he had commissioned independently as an unsolicited “what if?” fantasy project. Blomkamp stated at the time that he did this for fun and that he did not expect any of it to ever come to fruition. Yet sometimes fantasies do come true, as both the director and 20th Century Fox have now confirmed that Blomkamp will indeed be bringing his Alien vision to life. Ridley Scott, the granddaddy of the Alien franchise, will produce the film through his production company, Scott Free. The project will coexist with the upcoming Prometheus sequel that Scott is still making for some reason. Though Sigourney Weaver has not yet signed onto the new film, she recently expressed enthusiasm for the idea and has just worked with Blomkamp on the upcoming Chappie . Director Neill Blomkamp , who has brought us films such as District 9 and Elysium , was developing an Alien film, but has apparently scrapped work on the project. It would have been part of the same franchise from Ridley Scott and James Cameron , and we have some concept art to share with you that shows how cool it would have looked. Blomkamp revealed the news himself on his Instagram page along with several illustrations that were done for it. I've included the notes from the director that came along with each piece of art. The first one you see above came with the following caption: "Was working on this. Don't think I am anymore. After a heated bidding war, Sony is in talks to acquire a pitch set in the world of “ Robin Hood .” Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott brought the pitch to Sony and sources say it sold in the low seven-figure range. Sony had no comment. Plot details are vague other than that it’s a re-imagining of the classic “ Robin Hood ” tale. Insiders say Working Title and Paramount had also circled the project but it was Sony and president of production Michael De Luca who ultimately landed it. Universal Pictures was the last studio to take on the property with Ridley Scott directing and Russell Crowe starring.
