Movie Review: #GirlsTrip A pretty good time

A pretty good time RAMA is back. Although Girls Trip ’s sex-crazed raunchy comedy loses its fuel halfway through and ultimately falls off the cliff of its own accord, the friendship themes are decent enough to carry the rest of the film to the end. I don’t know if it’s any better than that other female-centric party movie this season featuring mostly white cast, “Rough Night,” but “Girls Trip” in many respects is certainly more engaging. Directed by Malcolm D. Lee who gave us “The Best Man” franchise, “ GirlsTrip ” stars Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett, and Tiffany Haddish as four life long best friends who’ve decided to reunite again for the big Essence Festival in New Orleans. Each of them tries their best to show the other that they’re in a good position in their life right now, relationship-wise and career-wise as they wildly dance and drink and romance into the night. But that success facade comes with secrets that will force them to rekindle their sisterhood.

Movie Review: #Barbershop The Next Cut

A hilarious attempt at connecting current affairs and comedy. After more than a decade has past at Calvin’s Barbershop in South Side Chicago not much has changed within the shop itself. However, in the neighborhood and throughout the nation violence and racial tension has begun to run rampant. The group of barbers and hairstylists both male and female are at each other constantly bickering back and forth on a wide range of social and political issues while still managing to be hilarious. As the barbershop struggles with multiple issues they try to band together to make a difference in their community to stop the rising violence while Calvin tries to resolve his own family problems. He and his son are at odds like every other father and son, but instead of arguing over chores, Calvin is actively trying to keep his son safe from gangs or associating with bad influences. The barbershop comes up with a plan to save the neighborhood and Calvin makes his own backup strategy to protect

Think Like a Man Too Review: Funny Moments Ruined By Its Conscience

Think Like a Man Too squanders its many assets and gets too serious at the end. If I could blame two movies for ruining everything, it would be The Lord of the Rings series and The Hangover - each changed their genres instantly and forever, raising expectations for everything that came afterwards. So, when a distributive of these films come out, all we can do is shake our head and wonder what could have been. Such was our experience with Think Like a Man Too , a film that lays no new ground and suffers from a pang of conscience midway through the third act. As the crew gather for a wedding in Las Vegas, we see several relationships started in the original now at key junctions. Couple Lauren (Taraji P. Henson) and Dominic (Michael Ealy) have received enticing job offers far away from LA, while fiancees Michael (Terrance Jenkins) and Kristen (Gabrielle Union) must deal with Michael's overly protective mother (Jennifer Lewis), who doesn't like Kristen in the least.
