BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

BATTLESHIP Review By:RAMA

BATTLESHIP Review By:RAMA So what did RAMA think of BATTLESHIP? Matt's review to come soon. Congratulations, director Peter Berg , you are now the new Michael Bay, and that’s not a compliment. Just as I suspected.. the experience is like watching Battle: Los Angeles meets Transformers meets full blown advertisement for the U.S. Navy. In the words of that weatherman from the comedy Anchorman.. “Loud Noises!”.. Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate

It is a co-production of Berg’s Film 44 and Atticus Entertainment. “We are truly excited about this innovative new reality series that will allow HBO to partner with Peter Berg,” Michael Lombardo, president of programming at HBO, said in a statement. “Freddie Roach is an extraordinary person and many of our subscribers are familiar with his superior work in training some of the world’s premier fighters.” The cinéma-vérité series is set at Roach’s Wildcard Boxing Club in Hollywood where he has trained famous fighters including Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, Amir Khanand, Floyd Mayweather Jr., as well as celebrities such as Mickey Rourke. “HBO’s enthu

Liam Neeson Will Return For Taken 2

Liam Neeson and Luc Besson have come to a meeting of the minds and they have worked out the scheduling snafu that made him iffy for Taken 2 . They are now closing the deal for Neeson to reprise what has become a signature role. Production is now being eyed for year end or beginning of 2012. Neeson will stick to his plan to take the rest of the year off, after completing the Clash of the Titans sequel he's shooting in London. He has been working almost nonstop, wrapping The Grey for Joe Carnahan and Battleship for Peter Berg. A fascinating drama has been playing out over the past few weeks on Taken 2, the sequel to the surprise global hit film hatched by Luc Besson that reinvigorated Liam Neeson. I'm told Besson has teamed on a script with Robert Mark Kamen, and that he's in talks with his Transporter 3 director Olivier Megaton to direct the sequel. But he has been dealing with a huge problem: Neeson has all but withdrawn from reprising his role as Bryan Mills, the re

$200 Million Budget For "Battleship" The Movie

$200 Million Budget For "Battleship" The Movie As Universal's "Battleship" steams toward a start date this month, the pricey adaptation of the Hasbro board game is entering deep, treacherous waters. With a budget of $200 million or more and no major movie stars on board, the project is raising eyebrows among industry insiders who question whether this expensive gamble will pay off. The films star are Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna, Taylor Kitsch and Lil Mirkk. "It's a big bet like many, many big bets from many studios," Universal chairman Adam Fogelson acknowledged to THR. "We will be nowhere near the high point and nowhere near the low point of what people are spending." But several huge questions hover over "Battleship," which begins filming in 15 days in Hawaii, that simply didn't apply to other big-ticket movies. In "Battleship," Universal has a director, Peter Berg, with some experience in action films, but

Peter Berg Talks Battleship Movie

Peter Berg Talks Battleship Movie Berg recently invited a group of movie bloggers to a Naval ship in San Diego, the U.S.S. Sterett to give them a tour and talk about what exactly he has planned for the film. If you have never been on one of these ships you should definitely go when you have the chance! You might as well hit one up in San Diego when you are there for Comic-Con if you haven’t already, these ships are freakin incredible! Peter talks a bit about using the bridge, and other parts of the ship, as sets for the movie. He also talked about what would happen if all of this technology suddenly became unavailable to the officers during battle with the aliens. Or with the Chinese. Whichever happens first. Berg: Most of the things we're going to show you today, are sets we're going to build, or in theory, work out with the Navy so we can use them and make them as realistic as possible. One of the things the film inspires is it takes us into this incredibly complicated world

BattleShip Movie Is Set For Sail in 2011

BattleShip Movie Is Set For Sail in 2011 Universal has set July 1, 2011, for the release of "Battleship," confirming Peter Berg as helmer of the live-action pic based on Hasbro's naval combat board game. Deal is part of a two-picture pic pact Berg has made with U, where he'll follow "Battleship" with an Afghan war drama "Lone Survivor." Universal's date declaration positions " Battleship " to become the second film release from the studio's multiyear deal with Hasbro to turn its classic games into features. "Battleship" is the latest in Universal 's strong push toward branded entertainment films, and Hasbro has fast become an increasingly important cog in that campaign. Scott Stuber and his U-based Stuber Pictures will produce "Battleship" alongside Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir, Berg and his Film 44 partner Sarah Aubrey. Script was written by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber ("Whiteout&quo

Hancock 2 Spoiler From Director Peter Berg

Hancock 2 Spoiler From Director Peter Berg I still remember Peter Berg in Cocky Romano . What a Bad Movie. Peter Berg, director of the superhero movie Hancock , has some ideas for a sequel if one ever comes to pass, and he shared his ideas with SCI FI Wire. (Spoilers ahead!) At the end of last year's Hancock, it was revealed that Will Smith's superpowered character was actually an immortal god who became vulnerable only when in the presence of his goddess companion (Charlize Theron). Berg confirmed that a sequel would elaborate on the film's mythology. "There might be another god out there," Berg said in an exclusive interview last month in Pasadena, Calif. "Might be another one." If two gods render each other mortal, imagine what kind of wrench a third would throw into the mix. Also, imagine the casting to match up with Will Smith and Charlize Theron! In the mythology of Hancock, all the gods supposedly died out except for our heroes, so a third deity
