The Brand New Trailer For The Hobbit Is Unearthed

You all have been waiting for it and we got it. Here is the brand new trailer for The Hobbit . “ The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey ” follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths ofguile and courage that surprise even him, he also ga

Third Hobbit Film Gets A Name & Release Date

Warner Bros. and New Line have set July 18, 2014, as the release date for the third film in Peter Jackson's ambitious The Hobbit trilogy . Additionally, the second film has been retitled The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug . The third film will take the title that was previously assigned to the second film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again . Warners is banking big on the trilogy. And, in sharp contrast to Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the second and third Hobbit pics will open within seven months of each other (the Lord of the Rings pics opened a year apart, at Christmas). “We wanted to have a shorter gap between the second and third films," Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said in a statement. "Opening in July affords us not only the perfect summer tentpole, but fans will have less time to wait for the finale of this epic adventure." Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, president of international distribution, added: "The

The Hobbit To Be Made Into A Trilogy?

Peter Jackson is looking to return to Middle Earth yet again. Sources close to the production of The Hobbit say the filmmaker has concluded that he wants to turn his upcoming two-film adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien epic into a trilogy. That would require additional shooting that sources say could take place next summer for about two months in New Zealand. Jackson teased the idea at Comic-Con on July 14 , telling fans that he wants to shoot more footage. But since then, sources say that studio Warner Bros., Jackson, producer Fran Walsh and writer-producer Philippa Boyens began exploring the logistics of what it would take to make another movie. Those talks are said to have accelerated in recent days, with the studio on board if the right financial arrangements can be achieved. That includes securing new actor deals for the expansive cast as well as shoring up certain rights associated with the property (The Hobbit has a long a tortured rights history.) “If we’re going to do it

The Hobbit Visits Comic-Con

If you weren’t lucky enough to be sitting in the packed Hall H at this year’s Comic-Con to witness Peter Jackson and co unveiling new footage from The Hobbit , the director is ready to dry your tears with the latest video production blog. Prepare to take a trip to San Diego with Jackson, and to get a look at some of what they showed at the event, by watching the video below… The latest video blog is yet another treat featuring, amongst other things, Sylvester McCoy as his legendarily eccentric self (including playing the spoons on every available surface and person) and Martin Freeman using the large-scale Bag End set as the jumping off point for his take on the Dennis Waterman spoof from Little Britain (“Write the feme tune, sing the feme tune”). Plus you get a Jackson’s eye view of the San Diego madness, some brief glimpses of new footage and yet another emotional ride packed with peeks at the crew and work, not to mention Andy Serkis in a barrel. Oh, and the wrap party follow

The Hobbit Comic-Con Panel Recap

Not one to do things by halves, Peter Jackson arrived in San Diego with a fellowship of friends – Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Philippa Boyens and Andy Serkis, plus Elijah Wood , who happened to be at Comic-Con promoting Tron: Uprising – as well a whopping 12 and a half minutes of footage. (After the mixed reception to the film’s look at April’s CinemaCon, this time Jackson opted for 24 frames per second and 2D.) Though the sequences were mainly drawn from the first Hobbit movie, An Unexpected Journey, there were also plenty of snippets from Part 2. The reel opened with a fun scene at Bag End, with the 13 dwarves taking advantage of Bilbo’s hospitality while discussing plans to invade the Lonely Mountain and take back their long-lost gold. “There is no way into the mountain,” grumbles Balin (Ken Stott). Gandalf begs to differ, producing an ancient key that will open a hidden door and explaining that “the task I have in mind will require stealth and a great deal of

The Hobbit Comic-Con Exclusive Poster

The first part of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit is now a mere five months away, and heralding its presence at this year's Comic-Con, Peter Jackson has taken to his facepage to reveal a con-exclusive new poster. This, we're saying, is Gandalf making his way through The Shire away from Bag End, having just shared the details of an adventure that he's arranging. He, of course, arrived at chez Baggins neither early nor late, but exactly when he meant to. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - whatever parts of it Jackson's presentation entails - will arrive at Hall H in San Diego in the afternoon of Saturday July 14. The Hobbit Is A Wrap

There were several times in the now dim and distant past (well, only a couple of years ago, really) when we thought we’d never see The Hobbit start shooting. But the cameras began cranking on March 20 last year and now Peter Jackson has posted the picture above to Facebook , marking the end of the two Hobbit movies’ long slog through production. We made it! Shoot day 266 and the end of principal photography on The Hobbit,” he wrote in a note accompanying the image. “Thanks to our fantastic cast and crew for getting us this far, and to all of you for your support! Next stop, the cutting room. Oh, and Comic Con!” Yes, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There And Back Again will now be making their way through the editing and post-production system. Though given that the first film is set for release in December, Jackson and his crew will already have started getting it ready. But for now – and assuming there aren’t pick-ups or second unit material still to be shot

The Hobbit Exclusive Photo

Peter Jackson's The Hobbit gets a public unveiling at Comic-Con this month. Ahead of the shindig, EW has revealed new shots of Gandalf ( Ian McKellen ), Bilbo ( Martin Freeman ) and dwarves Fili, Kili, Dori and Nori, among others, embarking on their epic quest across Middle-earth. Troll readers be warned. The Hobbit is also an origin story for Glamdring, Foe-hammer, Gandalf's two-handed sword. Here it is in all its troll, orc and goblin smiting glory. Interestingly, there's also glimpses of Galadriel amongst EW's pictures. She has been recruited from the pages of Lord Of The Rings and encorporated into The Hobbit's storyline. Any excuse to watch Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving as Elrond is alright by us, so Jackson's promise that "it will all make sense" should keep purists at bay. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire

First Look At Bilbo Baggins From The Hobbit

It's safe to say that 2011 is going out with a bang. But amid the latest Gotham goings-on, and with Ridley Scott reporting in from the less audible corners of space, it's easy to forget that somewhere in Middle-earth, Bilbo Baggins and his crew of footsore dwarves are Mirkwood-bound on an epic quest to find treasure and slay some serious cave troll in The Hobbit . Well, call us over-caffeinated Tolkien fanboys hyped up on pipe-weed and Christmas spirit, but we couldn't be more fired up about this one if we lived in Smaug's larynx. In fact, we're so excited that we sent our top man to Wellywood, New Zealand, to get the latest from the set of Peter Jackson's new Tolkien two-parter. Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Video Blog #4 Talks 3-D- "The first thing I filmed was finding the ring in Gollum's cave," Martin Freeman told us nonchalantly, giving an insight into his approach to hobbiting. "It's good to know, but not play, the importance

Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Video Blog #4 Talks 3-D

Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson has just made a new thrilling production video available to all of us Middle-earth fans. This time, we're being plunged into the world of 3-D, and we get to see those dwarves and hobbits in action. The fourth production video blog Jackson recently made available on his Facebook page mainly concentrates on the intricacies of filming in HD 3-D with about four dozen RED Epic cameras, which, as you'll see for yourselves, Jackson has all named—yes, named—after family members, pets and even the Beatles. Peter Jackson says shooting The Hobbit in 3-D is ''a dream come true,'' and we learn that the Oscar-winning director would have filmed LOTR in 3-D if the same technology had been available back when he set out to film his masterpiece more than 12 years ago. The very interesting (if fairly technical) production blog also features some nifty behind-the-scenes footage (while filming was taking place on a

THE THREE MUSKETEERS Movie Review By: Rama

THE THREE MUSKETEERS Movie Review By: Rama What did Rama think about THE THREE MUSKETEERS ? Would he want to join the gang or not? Make to follow him on Facebook and Twitter . A mildly enjoyable mindless entertainment, that’s how I’d describe director Paul W.S. Anderson’s version of Dumas’ classic tale. It’s THE THREE MUSKETEERS on steroid. Overwhelming bullet time, Bond-esque weaponry and gadgets, extravagant use of CG and those airships that look like blimps with firepower, THE THREE MUSKETEERS takes 19th century setting and mashes-it up with today’s generation’s addiction to cheap thrills. One for all and all for 3D.. The hot-headed young D’Artagnan ( Logan Lerman ) joins forces with three rogue Musketeers ( Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson ) in this reboot of Alexandre Dumas’ story. They must stop the evil Richlieu ( Christoph Waltz ) and face off with Buckingham ( Orlando Bloom ) and the treacherous Milady ( Milla Jovovich ). The action adventure is given

First Look At Thorin Oakenshield From The Hobbit

We have seen Fili & Kili , Well the TheOneRing.net has got their hands on the  first look image of Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield from THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. As a young Dwarf prince, Thorin witnessed the destruction and terror wrought when a great fire-breathing Dragon attacked the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. After slaughtering many of Thorin’s kin, the great serpent, Smaug, entered The Lonely Mountain and took possession of its vast store of gold and jewels. No-one came to the aid of the surviving Dwarves, and thus, a once proud and noble race was forced into exile. Through long years of hardship, Thorin grew to be a strong and fearless fighter and revered leader. In his heart a fierce desire grew; a desire to reclaim his homeland and destroy the beast that had brought such misery upon his people. So when fate offers him an unusual ally, he seizes the chance for revenge. Cate Blanchett (LOTR Films) returns as Galadriel, the Lady of Lothlorien Ian McKellen (

Neither has ever travelled far, nor ever seen the fabled Dwarf City of Erebor. For both, the journey to the Lonely Mountain represents adventure and excitement. Skilled fighters, both brothers set off on their adventure armed with the invincible courage of youth, neither being able to imagine the fate which lies before them. The Hobbit's Dwarves Are Here

Aaron Sorkin may have ditched Facebook but Peter Jackson definitely hasn't. The most recent status update from Middle-earth brings us our first glimpse of The Hobbit's dwarves - well, three of them at any rate - all kitted out for their unexpected journey. New Images From The Hobbit. IAN MCKELLEN As GANDALF

EW has the first 3 official pictures from the set of The Hobbit. In the pictures we get to see Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and Ian McKellen as Gandalf. Who's Excited for these images? See all the images after the Jump... IAN MCKELLEN (GANDALF) ”He’s in fantastic form,” Peter Jackson says of McKellen. ”In a way, his role in The Hobbit has more technical difficulties than Lord of the Rings did, because he has scenes with 14 smaller characters — obviously the dwarves and the hobbit are shorter… I remember saying to him [laughs], ”Look, this isn’t Waiting for Godot or King Lear. This is The Hobbit. This is the real thing.” PETER JACKSON WITH MARTIN FREEMAN ”There’s no way you can pace yourself for shoots like these,” Jackson says. ”When we were going through the schedule for The Hobbit, I felt a terrible drop in my stomach when I saw that we’d be shooting for 254 days. We’re only 12 days short of The Lord of the Rings even though we’re only doing two movies. When I saw
