Nicolas Cage and Sarah Wayne Callies star in this thriller about one man's desperate search for his missing child. The film's based on a short story by British Fantasy and horror novelist Tim Lebbon (Dusk). Dan Kay (Timber Falls wrote the adaptation. Cage plays an English LIterature professor at NYU (apparently one who occasionally wears Sailor Rilpey's jacket), whose son goes missing at a Halloween parade, immediately after saying something weird. The Medieval China action tale is too short and silly for us to care. Review by Matt Cummings The careers of both Actors Hayden Christensen and Nicholas Cage seem to be headed these days in the same direction: down. Destroyed by his experiences in the Star Wars prequels, Christensen is a ship without a rudder, an actor that could have been something, had his choices not been so terribly misguided. For Cage, it's a career first marked by brilliance (Raising Arizona), then incredible mainstream success ( The Rock , Con Air ), then incredible folly (Ghost Rider, Season of the Witch , etc etc). Apparently, Nicolas Cage is too good to be subsumed into long casting announcements and needs his own story. All right, so perhaps his deal took a little longer to nail down, but he is indeed joining the cast of Oliver Stone’s Snowden , adding his name to the cast in the role of a former US intelligence officer. Almost all the rest of the cast for Stone’s latest was revealed yesterday, with Zachary Quinto, Melissa Leo, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans and Joely Richardson joining Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley and Timothy Olyphant in the based-on-truth drama about the NSA whistleblower. Stone is making the film in Munich, having bought up two prime sources for his film: Time Of The Octopus, a novel by Snowden’s Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, giving him access to the story of the whistleblower who reluctantly sought asylum in Russia and had to wait to see if the country would grant it. The producers also have the option on Guardian journalist Luke Harding’s book The Snowden
