ELYSIUM Trailer has arrived and we go it. In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes ( Jodie Foster ), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max ( Matt Damon ) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds. If the two Elysium stills that went up last week left you wondering what Matt Damon was up to getting some odd technology affixed to his noggin and back, you can get a good look at that very equipment via the first poster for the film, which has just arrived courtesy of Yahoo . Directed by District 9’s Neill Blomkamp , Elysium takes place in 2159, when Earth has been wrecked by pollution, overpopulation and conflict. The rich have left the planet and now live in a massive space station where cancer can be cured and everyone enjoys a luxurious existence. According to their sources, Wagner Moura , best known to film audiences for playing Colonel Nascimento in the kickass Brazilian films ELITE SQUAD 1 and 2 , has booked a villain role in Neill Blomkamp ’s ELYSIUM . District 9 Prequel To Be The Sequel. Confused Yet? This week, he elaborated a bit on his plans for a follow-up—which might be a prequel instead, but definitely not a TV show—to the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog: "A television show I wouldn't really want to do.
