The final outing for Summit Entertainment's blockbuster Twilight franchise could have the sharpest bite of all. Most box-office observers believe The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2 will score a franchise-best opening at the domestic box office with a $145 million to $150 million debut, beating record holder 2009's New Moon ($142.8 million). Breaking Dawn 2 begins rolling out in North America at 10 p.m. Thursday; by Friday morning, it will be playing in 4,070 theaters. Summit is predicting a more conservative domestic opening and says Breaking Dawn 2 is tracking more in line with last year's Breaking Dawn -- Part 1 , which grossed $138.1 million on the same weekend a year ago. Moviehole is reporting that Twilight may continue after Breaking Dawn . Chortle they did when Bloody Disgusting reported a few months back that Lionsgate/Summit would be rebooting the still-fresh “Twilight” saga, and making it happen as soon as this latest and last installment (“ The Twilight Saga : Breaking Dawn Part 2 ″) had been shipped to theaters. Silly, in fact, that they did laugh. Check out my review to learn more.11 When one considers the predicament of a sequel, there can be no doubt that a sometimes unfair spotlight is cast upon them - unrealistic fan expectations, coupled with those of the studio, usually produce mixed results. However, those sequels which hold their own, sometimes outdoing their brethren, do so for sound reasons: an improvement in the story, deeper character interactions, and a general feel that the stakes have been raised. Think about what works in The Empire Strikes Back, The Bourne Supremacy, Star Trek II, or The Two Towers and one can easily identify these and other commonalities. LOCKOUT Review By: RAMA Would RAMA go and save the president's daughter? There’s nothing new about the concept, even though they describe it as Escape From New York in space. And to be honest, this is actually a pretty mindless action/thriller but it’s another work by producer Luc Besson who in recent years has helped bring his proteges’ films to the big screen, Taken, From Paris With Love , and now, LOCKOUT , these aren’t the most well-structured, well thought out films out there but they’re sure as hell entertaining.
