Tra-la-laaaa!!!! Rama is back. This is certainly “ Captain Underpants ” first movie, but does it live up to what the title suggests, ‘epic?’ Let’s just put it this way, the humor doesn’t land most of the time. It doesn’t do enough exaggeration, which usually can make kids laugh, kids who are clearly this movie’s target audience. It tries too hard to make their parents laugh instead. At least not until halfway through the end when the story busts out a weapon that can enlarge or shrink objects. But what it lacks in funny, “Captain Underpants” makes up for it in characters that entertain. Deadline is reporting Universal Pictures has attached Kevin Hart to star in The Great Outdoors , a reboot the studio is developing based on the 1988 John Hughes-scripted comedy. Randall Green is writing the new version. Michael De Luca is producing for Michael De Luca Productions with Hart through his Hartbeat Productions banner. The original Howie Deutch-directed film starred Dan Aykroyd and John Candy and focused on a Chicago man whose plans for a relaxing outdoor camping trip is imperiled when his annoying in-laws come to visit. Green’s other script work includes Cartoon Girl and The Swimsuit Issue, both of which were featured on the 2014 Black List. Randall recently wrote the live-action Scooby Doo reboot for Warner Bros, and is also currently writing on the Showtime series Billions. The gorgeous-looking The Secret Life of Pets feels strangely familiar, but is entirely adorable. Review by Matt Cummings As a pet owner and failed foster parent to three kittens (my wife and I actually kept all three), it goes without saying that my curiosity in The Secret Life of Pets went far above the cinematography, the animation, or really anything else. I just wanted to see what pets do - and think about - while their overlord oppressor goes to work. And while strangely familiar to the original Toy Story , this one more than makes up for it in cuteness and spectacular animation. The first picture from his reboot of ‘90s fantasy adventure Jumanji has surfaced via co-star Kevin Hart’s Instagram feed , and, well. Not too much is known about this one yet, except that Dwayne Johnson is playing a character called Dr. Bravestone, it’ll continue on from the 1996 Robin Williams original and, on this evidence, will require a lot more mosquito repellant than that version. Also pictured here at the end of day 1 on set are Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black. Because, let’s face it, you’re not making a Jumanji movie without Jack Black. With shooting kicking off soon in Hawaii, Dwayne Johnson has somewhat naturally been keeping the Jumanji promotional flame alive via his social media channels. And, via his Instagram page , The Rock has provided a look at concept art for his character, named Dr. Bravestone . Yes, Dr. Bravestone. We firmly expect co-star Kevin Hart to show up as someone named Captain Wildheart or some such pun.
