Pitch Perfect 2 Trailer Has Arrived

The Barden Bellas are back, back, back and this time they're taking on the world, as revealed in the new trailer for Pitch Perfect 2 . The trouble is that the world doesn't like America, and Beca Mitchell ( Anna Kendrick ) and the gang are going to have to sing (and dance) like never before if they're going to make it. And, with any luck, not vomit as much as they did in the first one. As well as the returning cast you were hoping for - Rebel Wilson as "Fat Amy", Adam DeVine as the leader of the Treblemakers, Bumper Allen, and many more - there are plenty of new names to look forward to, including Hailee Steinfeld as Bella newcomer Emily. You've also got mud wrestling, some magic involving dry leaves and the concept of "Loser" as a language. The first film came out in 2012, sneakily hauling in $113 million at the box office, as well as winning over a legion of die-hard fans, who will no doubt be champing at the bit to see what is going to

Laggies Review: Unlikeable Lead Dooms This Standard Rom-Com

Laggies offers us nothing new, and a lead we can do without. Review by Matt Cummings Romantic Comedies seem to be on their way out: once the staple of Date Night, these estrogen-fests lurk on fantasy television programs wrapped around vampires and medical dramas. The reason for this change: Rom-Coms no longer make money, as Hollywood sets its sights on big returns from Horror and Superhero flicks. Sadly, the Lynn Shelton-directed Laggies does more to prove the genre's problems than solve them. For professional misfit Megan (Keira Knightley), every day is a struggle to stay focused on the prize: hanging out at her parent's house watching TV, with no motivation or career prospects, and watching her high school chums get married, have kids, and succeed in their careers. After Megan's boyfriend (Mark Webber) attempts an ill-advised marriage proposal at their friend's wedding - in which she also sees her father cheating with another woman - Megan runs off to

Begin Again Review: Great Music Gets Lost in the Meh

The musical-romance Begin Again dares you to divorce it with its snails pace. One of my favorite 'musical-romance' films is High Fidelity . The story about a record store owner and his eclectic collection of employees, it's where I reconnected with Stevie Wonder, and where audiences probably saw Jack Black for the first time. And while I forgive them for failing to highlight Rush, Yes, and King Crimson, its timeless tale of people searching for love is an instant go-to classic. Unfortunately, Begin Again isn't nearly as endearing, wallowing in its own pool of self-pity, and merely easing the pain with a variety of really great music. Singer/songwriter Gretta (Keira Knightley) has come to America with her boyfriend and aspiring musician Dave (Singer Adam Levine) to get his career on track. Almost immediately, he attains success partially due to Gretta's songwriting. Unfortunately, she is soon without Dave due to his infidelity and finds herself in a b

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit Review. The Film Is A Smart, Wild, & Entertaining Ride

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit Review By: MattInRC TWITTER: The heart-pounding #JackRyanMovie Shadow Recruit is a smart, wild, and entertaining ride. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit has all the trappings of a great franchise in the making. Among our many movie fetishes, we here at SJF are big fans of intelligent spy movies that incorporate a sensible amount of action - from Tom Clancy's The Hunt for Red October to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy we love espionage in almost any form, including the stylish Skyfall and what should have been last year's Oscar winner in Zero Dark Thirty . In each of these classics, the characters who protect us are as important as the mission itself, making their drama an essential part of the story. Thankfully, the newest candidate - Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - impresses us for all of these reasons. As this is an origin story, we see the college-bound Jack Ryan ( Chris Pine ) studying in England just as the 9/11 attacks occur. As a result

Our Most Anticipated Movies Of 2014 Get Us Excited...No Not In That Way!

Our Most Anticipated Movies Of 2014 Get Us Excited...No Not In That Way! By: MattInRC Read on to learn about our most anticipated movies of 2014. Despite a rather thin offering, 2013's box did manage to beat 2012's record-setting numbers, a startling fact that we covered here. Big-budget franchise sequels dominated the landscape like Iron Man 3 , The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Despicable Me 2 , while Star Trek: Into Darkness and Fast and Furious 6 turned in strong but not overwhelming numbers. But that was 2013, and so it's time to get excited for the newest movies that will grace our screens in 2014. The trend seems to point to more sequels, but there's a decent amount of new entries that desperately want to occupy a place in your heart. As always, our list runs the gamut, from risky comic book projects to interesting adaptions and reboots. Your friends at SJF have compiled our top 20 most anticipated, which means we're not looking at Oscar
