Filming is well underway on the sequel to Deadpool , the foul-mouthed, fourth wall-breaking superhero movie that broke expectations and records last year. Josh Brolin was announced back in April as the primary villain of the piece, the bionic mutant future-soldier Cable. Now, thanks to the always-entertaining Twitter feed of Ryan Reynolds , we've been treated to our first look. See all the images after the Jump... Kitted out with the military getup and bionic eye that is his signature, Brolin is looking every inch the Nathan Summers of the comics. (It's one of two Marvel villains Brolin will be playing in 2018 – he'll also pop up as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, albeit in a separate cinematic universe.) As shooting is due to kick off soon on another round of crazed superhero action for Deadpool and friends, the cast is growing by one. The Strain's Jack Kesy has been cast as a villain that 20th Century Fox won't identify yet. Deadline, which broke the news of Kesy's casting, speculates that he could be Dublin-born mutant and Deadpool enemy " Black Tom " Cassidy. In the comics, he's Banshee's cousin and battles the Merc with a Mouth regularly. And his powers are, shall we say, interesting... He can bond with, manipulate and project energy through plant life (we can see the Happening jokes being spit-balled) and blast people with a wooden object, usually a shillelagh. THR is reporting Josh Brolin has nabbed the hotly contested role of Cable opposite Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2 , The production has been on the warpath to find the right actor for the role for months, with Michael Shannon almost nabbing the role and Stranger Things star David Harbour on the shortlist. The latest Coen Brothers' comedy misses the mark but still manages to look and sound great. Review by Matt Cummings It goes without saying that The Coen Brothers are probably everyone's favorite independent filmmakers. Who can blame them for spitting out their names in the same breath as today's other fashionable phrases ('whiskey' and 'Bernie' among them). But those who really follow them might say Joel and Ethan Coen are like many of their recent characters: washed up, existing on the credit of their past glories, and doomed to a slow, agonizing death. Their latest Hail, Caesar! is the fourth in a line of duds, doing a pretty good job of turning the mirror on themselves, while the rest of us try to figure out the humor. The hazardous world of narcs, the FBI, cartels and the Mexican borders seems an unlikely starting point for a franchise, but then the same might have been said about the Italian mafia in 1970s New York. Whether Sicario does a Godfather and spawns a crime trilogy remains to be seen, but it does have a sequel – Soldado – and, according to Deadline, a director in Suburra’s Stefano Sollima Yet to arrive on these shores, Suburra is a multi-strand Italian thriller replete with corruption, crime and gloss. It’s compelling stuff and, with strong work on the TV adaptation of Gomarra also to his name, marks Sollima out as a natural fit for the terrain.
