THR is reporting that Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux , writers on animated comedy Bob's Burgers , have signed on to work on Sony's female-centric 21 Jump Street project. The sisters are the second writing team to board the project. Sony also has brought on Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, who are working on Comedy Central’s buzzy Broad City. The studio liked a pitch from the Molyneux sisters, so it is moving forward with dual-track development, in which both writing teams are working on separate scripts for the comedy. The 21 Jump Street franchise, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, has done strong business for Sony. The first two films have grossed more than $530 million worldwide. Sony also is planning a third installment in the Tatum-Hill franchise called 23 Jump Street, with Rodney Rothman writing the script. Sony is brewing two female-centric spinoffs of its previous films. Todd Phillips has turned to Jonah Hill to lead the charge of his next pic. Sources tell Variety that the two-time Oscar nominee is in talks to star in Phillips’ “ Arms and the Dudes ” for Warner Bros. Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LaBeouf had to depart due to delayed scheduling, and Warners worked fast to find replacements. The studio has offered the co-starring role to Miles Teller to replace LaBeouf. Based on the Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson, the story follows two unlikely arms dealers who got a $300 million contract to supply weapons for U.S. allies in Afghanistan. They soon found themselves in danger abroad and in trouble back home because they were completely out of their depth. Jesse Ehrman and Jon Gonda are overseeing for the studio. The film is the first under the new production banner Phillips formed with his “Hangover” star Bradley Cooper. 22 Jump Street is the tenth-highest-grossing movie of the year at the domestic box office–and the highest-grossing movie of the year to feature no superheroes, transformers, monsters, apes, LEGOs, or Maleficents. Unsurprisingly, Deadline reports that Sony is working on a Jump Street threequel (a possibility that 22 Jump Street teasingly joked about.) The studio has hired writer Rodney Rothman, who was one of the four credited writers on 22 Jump Street. Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the Coen brothers’ drama “ Hail Caesar .” Jonah Hill is also in talks to join the cast. She would join Josh Brolin and George Clooney. Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes are also in negotiations to co-star. Universal will distribute with the Coens producing, along with Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan for Working Title Films. The story follows a Hollywood fixer in the 1950s who is working to keep a studio’s stars in line. Johansson will play an actress who suddenly becomes pregnant as her film is about to go into production. It’s a good fit, since Johansson announced in March that she was pregnant. She is engaged to Romain Dauriac. The plan is to go into production this fall and given the size of the cast, Johansson’s role is not expected to take very long to shoot. The insanely funny 22 Jump Street has its many moments, but just falls behind its slightly better original. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller in 2012 transformed a long-sleeping (and frankly boring) television series into a hilarious piece of comedy, demonstrating that nearly everything has a second life. Their follow-up 22 Jump Stree t is almost as funny as the original, but that doesn't mean we like it any less. Based almost entirely around the premise that our heroes Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) must do EXACTLY the same thing that they did in 21 Jump Street , they're set out to impersonate college students looking for a drug supplier. Their captain (Ice Cube) literally commands them: "Do the same thing as last time. Exactly the same thing." Soon, they're doing just that, partying at frat houses with Schmidt screwing women and Jenko acting as the star WR on the college's football team. But their relationship soon hits the

DreamWorks Animation hits animated paydirt with the very good How to Train Your Dragon 2 . DreamWorks Animation has hit a bit of a rough spot in the past three years. Although Mr. Peabody & Sherman ranks as one of the top animated films of 2014, the studio saw disappointing returns for 2013's Turbo and 2012's Rise of the Guardians . Granted, they do have the Madagascar series, but there's been the sense that DWA has been flailing in their search for a second franchise.
