Movie Review: #TheWallMovie The Film Is Gripping & Intense

An effective thriller Rama is back. The best way to describe “ The Wall ” is that it reminds us of 2002’s “ Phone Booth ” starring Colin Farrell and 2010’s “ Buried ” starring Ryan Reynolds . All of these movies are essentially stories of a predator toying with their food or prey. Our flawed protagonist pinned down while a highly skilled murderer speaks from the other end of the phone line messing with his head. It’s like a mind game between Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling all over again. “ The Wall ” is gripping and intense. Directed by Doug Liman, “The Wall” stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and WWE star John Cena as two soldiers investigating the deaths of pipeline contractors when all of a sudden they become sitting targets of a lethally accurate sniper. Dwain Worrell wrote the script which made it to the black list (great unproduced screenplays) and I can understand why because Worrell pretty much has come up with a story that’s quite nail-biting. And the fact that the sni

Daddy's Home Sequel On It's Way

The critical reception it got last year might not have predicted a sequel would be possible, but with $240 million in the bank worldwide, looks like we will see a follow-up to the mismatched buddy comedy of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in Daddy's Home . A comedy reunion for the Other Guys stars, Daddy's Home saw Ferrell as Brad, a mild-mannered husband to Linda Cardellini 's Sara's and step-dad to her kids. His world is threatened when her freewheeling tough guy ex-husband Dusty (Wahlberg) comes back into the picture. Soon the two men are engaged in a war of skill and manliness to see who can be the better role model for the children and score their love. Suffice to say a lot of pratfalls and madness follows. That first film ended – spoiler alert for those who didn't see it – with Dusty marrying someone new, who just so happens to have her own imposing ex, played by John Cena . So while the new movie's plot has yet to be unveiled, you've got to figu

Blu-ray Review #SistersMovie

Among the many things that men hold an unfair monopoly on over women are comedies about adults who never progressed beyond childhood. Man-child comedies are basically a subgenre unto themselves, spanning from The Jerk to Dumb and Dumber to the bulk of the Judd Apatow-associated films of the past decade. But why can’t women also be overgrown children for our amusement? Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck this past summer at least scratched in the general vicinity of the itch, but didn’t quite get there, as her character was irresponsible in chiefly adult ways. Where the women-children at? Sisters answers that call with great gusto. The film, starring real-life besties Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, introduces us to the Ellis sisters, Kate and Maura. Maura (Poehler) is a tightly-wound nurse with a deep-seated need to care for and please others. Kate is the opposite, a reckless washout who can hold neither a job nor a residence and whose put-upon daughter (Madison Davenport from From Dusk Till Dawn:

#SistersMovie Available On Digital HD 3/1 & Blu-ray & DVD 3/15

Comedy superstars Tina Fey (“30 Rock,” “SNL”) and Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation,” “SNL”) reunite in Sisters, the uproarious hit coming to Digital HD on March 1, 2016, and Blu-ray™, DVD and On Demand on March 15, 2016, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. From Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore, Sisters is a “hilarious, heartfelt and downright dysfunctional” (Rama’s Screen) delight, perfect to share with friends — and relatives. The Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital HD versions feature even more of Tina and Amy’s outrageous shenanigans in a new Unrated Version, as well as over an hour of deleted and extended scenes, gag reel and more! When the Ellis sisters, the always-responsible Maura (Poehler) and impossibly hotheaded Kate (Fey), receive word from their retired mom and dad that their family home is on the market, they discover they have one weekend left to clean out the old junk in their bedroom. As they comb through the artifacts of their teen years, Maura and Kate’s tri

Movie Review: 'Daddy's Home'

Daddy's Home is serviceable holiday gluttony that will make you fatter from consuming it. Review by Matt Cummings If 2014 proved that comedies were back, 2015 has almost reeled that statement back in. The Night Before , Get Hard , and Entourage proved that male-lead laughfests were nothing of the sort, while female-driven ones (Spy, Sisters, and Trainwreck) were far superior. The final comedy of 2015 Daddy's Home sadly proves our point. Brad (Will Ferrell) is newly married to Sarah (Linda Cardellini) and is stepfather to two kids who don't like him very much. No matter what Brad does to lighten their day, the kids don't recognize him as their father. Brad's style doesn't help: on the edge of being labeled effeminate, he places inspirational notes in the kids' lunchboxes, and tears up when one of them reluctantly asks him to the daddy-daughter dance at school. Unfortunately, the arrival of the real dad Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) turns Brad'
