BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

John Boyega Joins Kathryn Bigelow Detroit

THR is reporting Star Wars star John Boyega has been cast in Kathryn Bigelow ’s untitled Detroit project. Bigelow is directing the crime drama, her first feature since 2012’s Zero Dark Thirty. It is being financed by Annapurna Pictures and has an original script by her frequent collaborator Mark Boal. Details of the project are unknown, but the story is set against the backdrop of Detroit’s devastating riots that took place over five summer days in 1967, with the film seeking to explore the systemic racism in the city. The roll call is described as an ensemble piece. A summer shoot in Detroit and Boston is being planned. Bigelow is producing with Boal, Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman and Colin Wilson. Greg Shapiro will executive produce. No studio is attached yet as a distributor, but Bigelow, Ellison and company are eyeing a 2017 release, timed to the 50th anniversary of the riots. New Image From Star Wars: Episode VIII

Is this what Jedi will be wearing in December 2017? Or could it be, as the director himself has jokingly suggested, the cloak that Rian Johnson has been sporting as he oversees Star Wars: Episode VIII . Either way, it's the latest image that Johnson has posted to his Tumblr page from the movie's production. Johnson is getting close to winding up at least principal photography on the follow-up to The Force Awakens, though of course the long haul of post-production, any potential additional shooting and then the press march for the film means that he's got a lot of work still ahead of him. And a lot about the next main Star Wars entry remains to be disclosed: despite recent rumours, the title of the film is still a mystery and we don't know much about what actually happens in the film, beyond, one can assume, more from Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley's Rey, John Boyega's Finn and Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. The resistance will have more tro

John Boyega To Star In Pacific Rim 2

John Boyega has long since proved he knows something about battling odd creatures, be it in Attack The Block or a little film he appeared in last year called Star Wars: The Force Awakens . So he's got the credentials to fight Kaiju in the Pacific Rim sequel, and producer Guillermo del Toro has picked him to play the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost. Yes, though we don't yet know what memorable monicker he will be sporting – Cashier Pentecost, keeping up the supermarket theme? – he'll be the new movie's leading man, under the direction of Steven S. DeKnight, who was selected by del Toro when he opted not to return to the big chair. "I am very proud and happy to welcome John into a fantastic sandbox," says del Toro. "The Pacific Rim universe will be reinforced with him as a leading man as it continues to be a multicultural, multi-layered world. ‘The World saving the world’ was our goal and I couldn't think of a better man for the job

Here's Your New Han Solo

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the duo charged with the job of bringing a young Han Solo to our screens, appear to have made their choice of the man to fill the role for the stand-alone film. After a long casting process, Hail, Caesar! 's Alden Ehrenreich has clinched it. Now, we'd caution at this point that it's one of those "sources tell us" stories in the New York Post and hasn't (at time of writing this) been officially confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm. So we're obliged to fire up the old rumour klaxon for what will probably be the last time in this particular case. Ehrenreich , who is reportedly in the final stages of hammering out his deal to play the young rogue made iconic by Harrison Ford , won the role over the likes of Jack Reynor, Ansel Elgort and thousands of unknowns who tried out for it. With Star Wars: The Force Awakens co-writer Lawrence Kasdan working on the script alongside son Jon, story details are somewhat naturally being kept l

Blu-ray Review: STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

RAMA is back and this time he reviews Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The force is strong with this one. The best ' Star Wars ' movie since ' The Empire Strikes Back ' I can’t thank Disney and Lucasfilm enough for sending me this advance copy of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Blu-Ray . I was geekin’ out like a fat kid on a buffet line when I received this copy in the mail, it was like Christmas in Spring, it was like having my birthday party all over again, there’s no better way than that to describe such joy. The box art cover alone looks so pretty, it’s hypnotic, I can’t keep my eyes off of it, this blending of the old original generation with the new is just as thrilling as the movie itself. Now, the Blu-Ray, contains so many bonus features, I’m going to talk about some of them here, but heads up, it may be spoilery. Let’s talk quickly about the film first and if you recalled my review back in December, I made it clear that although I understand fans’ criticism

Star Wars #Theforceawakens Review. Short & Spoiler Free

Review by: John Meneghetti As you all should know by now Star Wars: The Force Awakens was, or is, my most anticipated film for this year. And why not, I did name my daughter after the princess. I also tattooed her on my leg. I want to keep all the spoilers out of this so this review will be straight to the point. Look for Matt's comprehensive review later this week and make sure to listen to our upcoming podcast for everything Star Wars. So let's begin. GO SEE THIS MOVIE IN RPK, DX, IMAX or somewhere with awesome picture and sounds first off. We saw it in a small and older theater with really shitty sound. But I do appreciate seeing it early. I liked how it holds up as its own perfect stand-alone movie and only requires you to know the basic Star Wars mythology to enjoy it. We all knew that the crawl was going to be there at the beginning of the movie. We learn the back story of who Finn, Rey, and Poe Dameron are all about. Or do we? We also learn what
