Variety is reporting Chris Evans and Jared Leto are in early talks to board DreamWorks’ adaptation of “ The Girl on the Train .” The duo joins Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson and Haley Bennett in the adaptation of the Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel. Sources indicate negotiations are still ongoing, and that schedules and finances still have to be figured out. The story follows a woman ( Blunt ) devastated by her recent divorce who spends her commute fantasizing about a seemingly perfect couple who lives in a house that her train passes every day. Along the way, she becomes entangled in a mystery revolving around the married couple. If the deals go through, Evans would play Ferguson’s husband and Leto would play Bennett’s husband. Tate Taylor is directing from Cressida Wilson’s script. Marc Platt will produce the film, while Jared LeBoff of Marc Platt Prods. will serve as executive producing. Scoring some impressive early reactions at the Toronto Film Festival’s Midnight Madness strand, Ilya Naishuller's Hardcore appears set to become one of the more talked-about films in the coming months thanks to its commitment to POV shooting and storytelling.
