The Battle Of The Five Armies Banner

With the final chapter in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, The Battle Of The Five Armies , steadily marching towards our cinemas, Warner Bros. has launched a hefty new piece of tapestry art showing some of the various conflicts and forces featured in the film. Take a look courtesy of Digital Spy… For those who may not have read the book, beware spoilers from this point on. The Battle Of The Five Armies, of course, sees Goblins and Wargs (one army, supported by nasty bats) face off against dwarves, elves, men and giant eagles (four much smaller armies) in a quest to gain control of Erebor (the Lonely Mountain) and Smaug's treasures within. In the book, Bilbo spends much of the conflict unconscious; we wonder whether that will still be the case onscreen? One change this time should see the Orcs being led by the still-very-much loose Necromancer (Benedict Cumberbatch), making them even more formidable. From the looks of this, the wizards definitely get involved this time, and

Will it live up to the hype and do the books justice is yet to be seen! There is a hunger in the world that is rising, an unquenchable one, and it’s not human. In the back of the plane, it’s a mess. The other steward is freaking out because he thinks he heard something moving in the cargo hold of the plane. He makes the woman investigate. She doesn’t see anything, but when she closes the hold, there’s clearly something inside, and it breaks out. What the hell is that? Guillermo del Toro Writing Pacific Rim 2

The director is collaborating with Zak Penn on a script. Before Godzilla arrived and smashed up the box office, a little film called Pacific Rim gave us tantalizing clues as just how cool a kaiju movie could be. The movie made about $190 million domestically, $411m worldwide, and enjoyed good DVD sales of just over $47m. Therefore, it seemed logical that a sequel would arrive, and now we have just such a confirmation. According to an interview given at the Austin premiere of the FX television show The Strain , Del Toro spoke about the script, saying the following: "I'm working very, very hard with Zak Penn. We've been working for a few months now in secret. We found a way to twist it around. Travis Beacham [co-writer of the first film, now working on Fox's 'Hieroglyph'] was involved in the storyline and now I'm writing with Zak because Travis has become a TV mogul." You'll remember that Del Toro collaborated with Travis Beacham on

Guillermo Del Toro's Horror-Filled Simpsons Opening

Gone are the days when you had to wait until something hit screens to see it. Take, for example, the opening credits to this year’s Treehouse Of Horror episode on The Simpsons . Not content to simply lend his voice or craft a couch gag, Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro has been given free rein to re-imagine the entire opening credits sequence. Cue the horror! Lurking within the nifty new sequence are references to del Toro’s own output (including Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy ) and a load of nods to his favorite horror movies, icons and moments. “The Simpsons titles are so iconic and yet they’ve never been riffed in this vein. I really wanted to land the connections between the show’s set pieces and the titles and some of the most iconic horror movies, and intersperse them with some of my stuff in there for pure joy,” he tells EW . “For example the idea that Ms. Krabappel could be outside the school with Alfred Hitchcock , which is a reference to the sequence in The Bir

Tom Hiddleston To Star In Crimson Peak

Tom Hiddleston is replacing Benedict Cumberbatch in Crimson Peak , a gothic film to be directed by Guillermo del Toro . The thriller, which will also feature Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam , has set a start date of January 2014 to begin shooting. Legendary, which covered 75 percent of the budget for del Toro's Pacific Rim , will produce and provide financing, while Universal Pictures will have the option to come on board as a finance partner at a later date. Cumberbatch exited Crimson Peak in late August. There wasn't a reason given for the departure at the time, although sources told THR that it wasn't due to a conflict with another project. Hiddleston, who played Loki in The Avengers, is set to appear in November's Marvel sequel Thor: The Dark World. The actor was also cast in Muppets Most Wanted, which has set a March 2014 release date. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

Benedict Cumberbatch Exists Crimson Peak

Benedict Cumberbatch has exited Crimson Peak, the Legendary horror movie being directed by Guillermo del Toro . No reason for his departure was given, although sources say his exit is not due to another project. Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska remain on board to star in the four-hander gothic horror story that centers on a woman who discovers that her husband might not be who he appears to be. Peak is scheduled to shoot in January, and the exit at this early stage gives del Toro plenty of time to find a replacement. The filmmaker has already shown he can roll with the punches when he quickly cast Wasikowska after Emma Stone fell off the movie. Cumberbatch is entering a busy period where many of his completed films will hit screens. Dreamworks’ The Fifth Estate kicks off the Toronto International Film Festival in September, Fox Searchlight’s 12 Years a Slave opens on Oct. 18, while the all-star August: Osage County opens Dec. 25. He is also voicing the

Pacific Rim Review. Pleasant Surprise

Pacific Rim Review By: Nicolas Souza Big Action, Bigger Robots Please welcome guest review Nicolas Souza. Nicolas will be reviewing movie from time to time. Giant monsters, huge robots, and a decent story holding it all together; this is the easiest way to explain Pacific Rim . This summer action blockbuster wonderfully delivers all of that, but doesn’t blow you away. Fans of giant monsters and robots will not leave the theater disappointed. The action scenes between the two are fantastic. On par with the action in other giant robot movies like Transformers, I believe Pacific Rim is slightly better. This is due to the limit of monsters on screen at once. With only a few monsters or robots fighting at once, there is no need to cut from fight to fight. This gives more time to the wonderfully designed Jaegers, German for hunter, and Kaiju, giant monsters. Director Guillermo del Torro (Pan’s Labyrinth) assembles a human cast that fills its role nicely for a movie that’s main st

Pacific Rim Review. Add It To Your Summer Movie To-Do List.

Pacific Rim Review By: MattInRC The monster/robot flick Pacific Rim is way too much fun for you to notice all the plot holes. Among the film genres of my youth, Kaiju was not one of them. Sure, I liked the idea of giant monsters attacking cities - and even some such as the 1954 Godzilla - had almost believable plots. But I always found them predictable: you can only smash so many buildings and endure so much poor voice dubbing before they turned into a joke. With Kaiju films, it's always been two steps back ( Roland Emmerich's Gozilla remake ), one step forward ( JJ Abrams' Cloverfield ); what the genre needed was a big Hollywood budget AND a great script to get people re-energized about the genre. Pacific Rim does at least part of that really well by adding human-controlled robots into the mix. And while there are plot holes a mile wide and a predictable ending to boot, the film is tons of fun. You'll find yourself willing to forgo these issues in favor of w

Mama Blu-ray Review. Brings Good Video & Exceptional Audio

Mama Blu-ray Review By: MattInRC Universal's Mama brings home good video and exceptional audio, even though it's got flaws.   Warning: major spoilers ahead. As I emerged from the press screening of a film back in late March, theater employees were handing out related posters. As I flipped the poster over, I learned that the studio was already planning its home release by encouraging audiences to pre-order it. At the time, I thought this was a marketing ploy based on the long delay which the film faced (I'm totally giving the name of this title away). But as the Summer 2013 season got underway, more and more titles suddenly became available for pre-release, representing an interesting trend - the idea that studios want to cash in on their marketing more effectively by quickly get their products into consumers' hands. As soon as Star Trek: Into Darkness and Fast Six were released in theaters, their pre-orders became almost instantly available. In sh
