Robert Kirkman's 'Invincible' Heading To The Big Screen

THR is reporting  Rogen and Goldberg will write, direct and produce a movie adaptation, with the ' Walking Dead ' creator also producing. Invincible is Kirkman’s second-longest running title after The Walking Dead and follows Mark Grayson, a normal high school student with just one difference between him and his peers — his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, and he, too, will inherit his own set of superpowers. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are teaming up with Robert Kirkman to bring the Walking Dead creator’s comic book Invincible to the big screen for Universal. Rogen and Goldberg will write, direct and produce the adaptation of the comic, which has been continually published since 2003. Kirkman will also produce, via his shingle Skybound Entertainment and his Skybound cohorts David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst. The project falls under Skybound’s first-look deal with Universal. Movie Review: Sausage Party

Raunchy cartoon isn’t much of a party. Review by Brandon Wolfe The creative union of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg has produced a litany of contemporary comedic gems, from the instant-classic Superbad to the headline-making lightning rod (yet still curiously overlooked) The Interview . The duo may have ridden Judd Apatow’s coattails to success, but they’ve both done as much to mold the last decade’s comedy scene in their image as their mentor has. The Rogen/Goldberg enterprise hasn’t been flawless in its consistency (the recent The Night Before and Neighbors 2 being underwhelming showings), but these guys have proven time and again that they know funny, and even their misses contain no shortage of micro-hits. This is what makes Sausage Party , the pair’s hard-R initial foray into animation, so perplexing. It’s an unqualified miss, a movie every inch as miscalculated and groan-inducing as it sounded in description and looked to be in previews. Any hope that Rogen and Goldberg kne

TV Review: Preacher "Pilot"

AMC comic adaptation gets preachy. Review by Brandon Wolfe AMC’s adaptation of the cult comic Preacher is clearly intended to be something of a companion piece to the network’s similarly comics-derived The Walking Dead , but going off of the new series’ debut episode, the two are dramatically different in their respective approaches. The Walking Dead is a very simple show, by design. The world has ended, zombies run rampant, and our heroes try to stay alive while encountering other, more sinister factions of survivors. Preacher is far more complicated than that. Its first outing just about breaks its neck to set up its unwieldy premise. Spanning from outer space to Africa to Texas to Kansas to Russia, the pilot is in a mad dash to convey its world and characters to us. It mostly pulls it off, but you can see the sweat from the effort. In a comically low-fi opening, a mysterious force is bounding about the cosmos before touching down in a small African village, taking up residen

AMC's #Preacher First Trailer

This show is developed by Sony TV, AMC Studios, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Rogen and Goldberg direct the pilot written by Sam Catlin who’ll be the showrunner. Preacher is the story of Jesse Custer ( Dominic Cooper , Agent Carter), a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga , Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy ( Joseph Gilgun , This Is England) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. Ruth Negga plays Jesse Custer’s ex-girlfriend, Tulip Ian Colletti plays Eugene Root a.k.a Arseface who has a disfigured face and speech impediment but he’s very nice and loyal to Jesse. Despite his kindness, Arseface is troubled by something he’s done in the past. Joseph Gilgun plays Cassidy Lucy Griffiths plays a no-nonsense single mother of three, a waitress named Emily, who’s also the church organist, bookkeeper and J

The Interview to Debut on Netflix...Soon

Does its release on Netflix change anything for Sony Pictures? Story by Matt Cummings Perhaps the most significant entertainment story of 2014 was one of its last: the decision by Sony Pictures to cancel the release of the comedy The Interview . This sparked a wave of controversy that hit social media like a 50' wave of guffaws and stunned reactions from people like Director Michael Moore to Actor Patton Oswalt. And although the film eventually saw theatrical release and did well in the VOD market, no one expected to see it on Netflix for at least a couple of months. That changed today when Variety and other outlets today reported that Netflix had agreed to stream the film with Seth Rogen and James Franco beginning January 24th. Sure, it's already made about $6m (at the time of this posting) from 581 theatrical locations, but its VOD went off the scale to the tune of $40m. The Netflix news answers one question: would Sony seek a Netflix release, just to squeeze

The Interview Will Be Released Tomorrow In Theaters & Online

Sony's The Interview will become available today on a variety of online platforms including YouTube Movies, Google Play, Microsoft's Xbox Video and Sony's own dedicated website www.seetheinterview.com , the studio has announced. The movie, which will go online at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, can be rented for $5.99 and purchased in HD for $14.99. “It has always been Sony’s intention to have a national platform on which to release this film,” Michael Lynton, chairman and CEO of Sony Entertainment, said. “With that in mind, we reached out to Google, Microsoft and other partners last Wednesday, Dec. 17, when it became clear our initial release plans were not possible. We are pleased we can now join with our partners to offer the film nation-wide today. “We never stopped pursuing as wide a release as possible for The Interview. It was essential for our studio to release this movie, especially given the assault upon our business and our employees by those who wanted to stop free

Alamo Drafthouse will be playing THE INTERVIEW at multiple locations. Specific theaters and showtimes are currently being determined. Follow @Drafthouse for further announcements. Below please find a statement from Alamo Drafthouse CEO Tim League... "We cannot imagine the pressures that have been affecting Sony, at all levels of the organization they have been under attack. Amidst this unwarranted chaos, they have regrouped and listened to the public, the government and the exhibition community and responded with resolve and determination. At 10:45 AM Sony bookers approved screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and other arthouse and independent theaters across the country. This is the best Christmas gift anyone could give us. We, both distributors and exhibitors, have collectively stood firm to our principles and for the right to freedom of expression. Two days til Christmas, and I am proud to be an American." - Alamo Drafthouse CEO Tim League Please Leave A Co

The Interview No Longer Going To Be Released.

In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film The Interview , we have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25 theatrical release. We respect and understand our partners’ decision and, of course, completely share their paramount interest in the safety of employees and theater-goers. Sony Pictures has been the victim of an unprecedented criminal assault against our employees, our customers, and our business. Those who attacked us stole our intellectual property, private emails, and sensitive and proprietary material, and sought to destroy our spirit and our morale – all apparently to thwart the release of a movie they did not like. We are deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie, and in the process do damage to our company, our employees, and the American public. We stand by our filmmakers and their right to free expression and are extremely disappointed by this outcome. Please Leave A Comment-

Red Band For "The Interview" Starring James Franco & Seth Rogen

We've had at least one trailer already for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg ’s latest directorial effort, The Interview . Here comes the latest, a Red Band effort full of filthy humor and James Franco mugging. Franco is Dave Skylark, the none-too-bright but very popular host of celebrity tabloid TV show Skylark Tonight. Neighbors Sequel On The Way?

Neighbors producers Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen mentioned at the Produced By conference that they’re still taking a lot of meetings about a sequel to their hit summer comedy, which is on the verge of hitting $220 million worldwide, but it’s still undetermined whether they will move forward. In the meantime, they are trying to get the project Jazz Cops off the ground, a starring vehicle for Rogen and Kevin Hart , about two cops during the 1950s trying to infiltrate the jazz scene. A bulk of their conversation, along with fellow producing partner James Weaver who first started with Rogen as an assistant on Funny People, was devoted to the lessons they’ve learned while writing, directing and producing their comedies. After working on The Green Hornet, the trio learned — big budget isn’t everything. Too much red tape, too many parties to contend with. After enjoying the buffer from the studios on their Judd Apatow productions, i.e. Knocked Up, Superbad and Pineapple Express, Weaver

THE WATCH Movie Review By: MattInRC

THE WATCH Movie Review By: MattInRC Does the Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn/Jonah Hill bro-fest THE WATCH inspire laughter or demands for your money back? THE WATCH  is the kind of film which mirrors the times in which we live: it's gross, raunchy, and even a bit degrading at points. Yes, I'm saying society has become dependent on these facets to get anyone's attention. Add any other adjective/adverb that Google will spit out if you wish to complete the experience. The problem has been that Hollywood hasn't consistently come up with truly funny raunch, giving us 3-4 terrible efforts for every Hangover or Ted . The transition to this new lower-brow form of entertainment has not been without its bumps. Luckily  THE WATCH  doesn't fall into the abyss of terrible mishaps; instead, it's a hilarious romp through the world of alien invasions, low sperm counts, male genitalia, and underage drinking. Ok, that doesn't sound as appealing as I write this, but f

The Watch Trailer Starring Stiller, Vaughn & Hill

We got our hands on another trailer for the film Richard Ayoade’s new comedy, Neighborhood Watch. But that movie doesn’t exist anymore. Or at least, the title doesn’t. Now the movie is simply called The Watch . The foursome are still part of a neighbourhood watch group formed less from a sense of community responsibility and more from the chance to escape their dull suburban lives and enjoy a little bit of a power trip. But they get far more than they bargained for when they discover evidence that something decidedly otherworldly is going on.. Watch the trailer after the Jump... While the whole alien element has been kept low-key, this latest promo blends the lads exchanging some predictably raunchy banter with some solid evidence that their seemingly quiet little ‘burb has been invaded by some non-human new residents. As for the title swap, that’s been forced by the real-life shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Florida last February. You can see why a film that f
