Maleficent Review By: Beevers Growing up Disney’s Sleeping Beauty was one of my favorite movies. I loved pretending I was Princess Aurora dancing in the forest with the forest animals. I actually loved the movie so much that I named my oldest daughter Aurora . That being said I was excited to see a different take on the story but worried that Maleficent won’t hold up to my expectations. I am happy to say that I left Maleficent very pleased. I took my daughter Aurora, who is now 12, to see the movie and she really liked it as well. The movie begins with a beautiful, sweet, young fairy named Maleficent living in a magical land separated from the humans. As she becomes older she grows to be the protector of her land. When the land is under attack from the neighboring greedy human kingdom she drives the army away with the help of her magical companions. As this new trailer for The Boxtrolls shows, the movie’s titular trolls aren’t the likeliest of superheroes. They live underground, feast on grubs and probably use Ghostbuster II’s slime river for bath times. Marking their third project together, LAIKA and Focus Features , the two companies behind the current Academy Award-nominated animated feature ParaNorman , announced today that LAIKA has begun production on The Boxtrolls . The new movie will be released nationwide by Focus on October 17th, 2014. Focus CEO James Schamus and LAIKA President & CEO Travis Knight made the announcement today. As on the previous animation collaborations ParaNorman and Coraline , Focus will hold worldwide distribution rights to The Boxtrolls , and Universal Pictures International will release the movie overseas (with eOne Distribution handling Canada). Juno Temple will play one of the three pixies taking care of Aurora in the live-action Disney fantasy film that re-imagines the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Angelina Jolie is playing the title character in the fantasy that tells the story from the point of view of the fairy-witch who cursed Aurora to a permanent sleep on her 16th birthday.
