BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Video Blog #4 Talks 3-D

Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson has just made a new thrilling production video available to all of us Middle-earth fans. This time, we're being plunged into the world of 3-D, and we get to see those dwarves and hobbits in action. The fourth production video blog Jackson recently made available on his Facebook page mainly concentrates on the intricacies of filming in HD 3-D with about four dozen RED Epic cameras, which, as you'll see for yourselves, Jackson has all named—yes, named—after family members, pets and even the Beatles. Peter Jackson says shooting The Hobbit in 3-D is ''a dream come true,'' and we learn that the Oscar-winning director would have filmed LOTR in 3-D if the same technology had been available back when he set out to film his masterpiece more than 12 years ago. The very interesting (if fairly technical) production blog also features some nifty behind-the-scenes footage (while filming was taking place on a

New Images From The Hobbit. IAN MCKELLEN As GANDALF

EW has the first 3 official pictures from the set of The Hobbit. In the pictures we get to see Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and Ian McKellen as Gandalf. Who's Excited for these images? See all the images after the Jump... IAN MCKELLEN (GANDALF) ”He’s in fantastic form,” Peter Jackson says of McKellen. ”In a way, his role in The Hobbit has more technical difficulties than Lord of the Rings did, because he has scenes with 14 smaller characters — obviously the dwarves and the hobbit are shorter… I remember saying to him [laughs], ”Look, this isn’t Waiting for Godot or King Lear. This is The Hobbit. This is the real thing.” PETER JACKSON WITH MARTIN FREEMAN ”There’s no way you can pace yourself for shoots like these,” Jackson says. ”When we were going through the schedule for The Hobbit, I felt a terrible drop in my stomach when I saw that we’d be shooting for 254 days. We’re only 12 days short of The Lord of the Rings even though we’re only doing two movies. When I saw

Evangeline Lilly Added To The Cast Of The Hobbit

Peter Jackson took to Facebook to announce two new additions to the cast of his upcoming film The Hobbit . We've finished our first block of shooting and moved straight into location scouting. More on that soon... But today, I'm thrilled to announce two new cast members who will be joining us for our second block of shooting. Evangeline Lilly will be playing a new character—the Woodland Elf, Tauriel . Her name means 'daughter of Mirkwood' and, beyond that, we must leave you guessing! (No, there is no romantic connection to Legolas.) What is not a secret is how talented and compelling an actress Evangeline is; we are thrilled and excited she will be the one to bring our first true Sylvan Elf to life. I'm also highly excited that Barry Humphries will be portraying the Goblin King , in much the way Andy Serkis created Gollum. Barry is perhaps best known for his business and social connections as the long-time manager of Dame Edna Everage. He has also been an

The Two Hobbit Films Get A Name & Release Dates

Meanwhile, keeping up h

Orlando Bloom Returns To The Hobbit

Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom has joined the cast of Peter Jackson's upcoming Hobbit movies -- even though his character, the elf Legolas , doesn’t appear in J. R. R. Tolkien’s original novel. Jackson announced the casting in a Facebook post Friday. “Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas," he wrote. "I’m excited to announce today that we’ll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more. I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again.” Jackson is currently directing the two-movie adaptation in New Zealand. He helped catapult Bloom to stardom by giving him his first major film roles as Legolas in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Looking back, Jackson wrote on his Facebook page,  "I look older — and he doesn’t! I guess that’s why he makes such a wonderful elf." The Hobbit movies, which have been in the works for 14 years, has faced a series of setbacks. In 2005, Jackson filed suit against New Line

Bilbo Baggins Returns For The Hobbit

Ian Holm will be returning to reprise his role as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit . For all you Hobbit fans I am sure you have seen the first video blog that Peter Jackson has released if you haven't you will hear Holm voice at the end. Read the comment after the Jump... One comment that came up from the recent video blog was the Bilbo voice at the end—many of you assumed it was Sir Ian Holm. Whilst Ian will be returning as the older Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, that recording was actually Martin Freeman’s voice, taken from a script read through we recorded when the cast first arrived. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure who it was when I first heard it, either. Cheers, Peter J Please Leave A Comment- Source- Facebook

Elijah Wood Talks Upcoming Role In The Hobbit

MTV got a chance to talk to Elijah Wood and asked him about his upcoming role in " The Hobbit ." Wood has long maintained that he'd never suit back up as Frodo Baggins — the role he pioneered in the Oscar-winning " Lord of the Rings " trilogy" — in an adaptation of "The Hobbit" unless the appearance avoided gimmickry and fit within the larger context of J. R. R. Tolkien's legendary creation. Well, now Wood is officially returning to Middle-earth, and in what might be his first public comments about the upcoming project, the 29-year-old actor told MTV News that, although Frodo was never in Tolkien's "Hobbit," the character's appearance in the movies makes sense for Jackson's adaptation. "It's a very small piece, and I think that's the most appropriate," Wood said when we caught up with him at the Sundance Film Festival, where he was promoting " Fight for Your Right Revisited ," a short fil

Matt Damon and Brad Pitt To Lend Their Voices To Happy Feet 2?

Matt Damon and Brad Pitt To Lend Their Voices To Happy Feet 2? My little girl has been a huge fan of this film since she first laid eyes on it. Every Penguin she s ee's is called Mumbo . Dam film started her hoarding addiction with penguin dolls. Should I give A&E a call? So to my joy they are making a second film, and I can't wait to add to her collection. Matt Damon and Brad Pitt haven’t made a movie together since Ocean’s Thirteen, but Movieline hears that the two actors have both been cast in an upcoming film directed by George Miller. No, not Miller’s Mad Max reboot starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. I’m warning you, temper your expectations a little. Pitt and Damon will both be voicing characters in Miller’s Happy Feet 2, a 3-D sequel to his 2006 animated film. They’ll be joining original cast members who include Robin Williams and Elijah Wood. Warner Bros. refused comment on the casting, but Movieline sources say that it’s a done deal — in fact, both Pitt a
