BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Danny Boyle Wants A Trainspotting Sequel

“All the four main actors want to come back and do it,” the director tells Deadline ’s Pete Hammond, who caught up with Boyle at the Telluride after-party for the “work-in-progress” screening of Steve Jobs with Michael Fassbender in the title role. “Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series,” Boyle says. Prior to the first-ever public screening of Steve Jobs, Boyle received a Telluride Medallion for his body of work, clips of which included a certain vivid public toilet-diving scene from Trainspotting . The long-anticipated and much-speculated sequel would follow by at least 20 years the ground-breaking 1996 Miramax release of Channel 4’s account about the grimly, grittily entertaining misadventures of drug addicts in Edinburgh (but film was shot mostly in Glasgow). The original was written by John Hodge, based on Irvine Welsh’s novel. Boyle also told Deadline that Hodge’s script for what they’re c

28 Months Later Finally Begins To Gestate

Long delayed sequel finally has some bite. By Brandon Wolfe Shortly after the release of 2007’s 28 Weeks Later , the well-received sequel to Danny Boyle’s 2003 horror hit 28 Days Later , there was talk of a second sequel, predictably titled 28 Months Later . Boyle has sporadically mentioned the possibility of revisiting his world where a virus has reduced much of the population into rage-filled zombies (except they’re not dead; it’s weird), but the film never materialized. That may be about to change. Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later as well as the recent Ex Machina and cult favorite Dredd , has stumbled upon a concept that has potentially reinvigorated the sequel. “The rights to 28 Days were frozen, effectively, because they were shared between Danny [Boyle], [producer] Andrew [McDonald], myself, and Fox,” Garland said. “ After the second one, none of us really wanted to do another. Fox may or may not have, I don't know.” As for what changed his mind, Garland g

Seth Rogen To Play Steve Wozniak Opposite Christian Bale

Seth Rogen is being eyed to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak opposite Christian Bale in Sony's Steve Jobs movie, while Jessica Chastain is also being sought for a role in the film, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap . Danny Boyle is directing the film — which is not a traditional biopic — from a script by Aaron Sorkin , who had access to Jobs’ authorized biography by Walter Isaacson. The film is expected to follow Jobs during three stressful, high-profile product launches including the first Macintosh in 1984 and Apple's 2001 debut of the iPod. While neither Chastain nor Rogen have deals in place, the latter actor is in talks to play Wozniak, who created the Apple I computer and co-created the Apple II computer in the mid-1970s. Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady are producing the film, which Sony has high hopes for, as it could be a major awards contender. Rogen has proved himself more than capable of handling dramatic r

Could Danny Boyle & Leonardo DiCaprio Team Up To Make Steve Jobs Movie

Moving fast to replace David Fincher on its highly anticipated Steve Jobs movie , Sony Pictures is in talks with Danny Boyle to direct the biopic of the late Apple Computer co-founder. Boyle is said to have approached Leonardo DiCaprio to star. As The Hollywood Reporter revealed earlier this month, Fincher fell out of the project due to his aggressive demands for compensation and control. Fincher had wanted Christian Bale for the title role, though the actor was not signed. The film is to be produced by Scott Rudin and written by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network), based on the best-selling biography of Jobs by Walter Isaacson. The Jobs film could mark a reteaming of DiCaprio and Boyle, the star and director, respectively, of 2000's The Beach. Neither has previously worked with Sorkin. The departure of Fincher dashed hopes of reuniting the team behind Social Network, which grossed $225 million worldwide in 2010. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

TRANCE Review. Pushes Every Boundary Imaginable And A Terrific Sense Of Style

TRANCE Review By: MattInRC Does the psychological thriller TRANCE prove itself a worthy affair, or does it need more time in therapy? After a quick start, the movies of 2013 continue to impress, establishing themselves as some of the strongest in recent memory. From extraordinary action/dramas to enjoyable if predictable comedies and good horror, we've seen a diverse collection to be sure. And although audiences have largely stayed away, it certainly hasn't been due to a lack of quality. At the very edge of the commercial spectrum is Trance, a film that pushes about every boundary imaginable with well-crafted precision and a terrific sense of style. When an art heist in London goes bad, the players gather to figure out why their inside man Simon ( James McAvoy , X-Men: First Class) hid the painting rather than delivering it. Front-man Franck ( Vincent Cassel , Black Swan) wants his painting, as its high price will pay off the high debt which the gambler Simo

James Franco To Star In 127 Hours Danny Boyle's Next Film

James Franco To Star In 127 Hours Danny Boyle's Next Film We've known for two months that Danny Boyle's next film will be 127 Hours, based on the true story of a mountain climber who got stuck under a boulder and had to do terrible things to survive. And now we know which lucky (?) actor will play the guy: James Franco. That's the word from industry publication Production Weekly, which tweeted earlier today that Franco has the part, and that filming will begin in early March in Utah. The mountaineer, Aron Ralston, was climbing in southeastern Utah in 2003 when a boulder came loose and crushed his arm against the wall of the canyon, pinning him there for several days. Probably something like 125 or 130 hours total, I'm guessing. (You can read all the gruesome, bone-sawing details on Ralston's Wikipedia page .) Anyway, while there are no specifics yet, one assumes Boyle will be shooting in the same general area where the incident happened, which isn't too far

Texas Killing Fields To Star Bradley Cooper And Sam Worthington

Texas Killing Fields To Star Bradley Cooper And Sam Worthington Texas Killing Fields’ was a fantastic script, really special script, but it was just so dark it would never get made. You’d have to have half a dozen super megastars for a studio to even consider making it,” Boyle said of the project. “It’s by an ex-cop from Galveston and visually would have been extraordinary, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Well, it looks like they may have found their super mega-stars. Unfortunately, according to our inside source, The Hollywood Cog, Danny Boyle is no longer attached to the project. Instead, the project — which is being produced by Michael Mann, who was once himself attached to direct — has fallen into the lap of Ami Mann, Michael’s daughter. whose only notable experience was as the second unit director on Heat and a long in-development and probably dead, Racing the Monsoon (which at one time had Michael Douglas attached). Ami Mann’s inexperience is noteworthy here, I woul
