Ken Watanabe will take the Clint Eastwood role in a Japanese remake of Unforgiven to be made by Time Warner's Warner Entertainment Japan. Ken Watanabe to Take a Break From Hollywood and Help Japan Korean-Japanese helmer Lee Sang-Il (Hula Girls, Villain), who brought the idea of the project to Warner in May last year, will direct Yurusarezaru Mono (A Thing That Can’t Be Forgiven), which like the original, will be set in 1880. Watanabe will play a samurai with a violent past, who lives on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido with his Ainu (the aboriginal people of the island) wife, but is brought out of retirement for one last job. Koichi Sato (The Magic Hour) will play the Gene Hackman role, while veteran Akira Emoto (Villain) will take the part played by Morgan Freeman in the multi-Academy Award-winning original. J. EDGAR Movie Review By: Rama

J. EDGAR Movie Review By: Rama So what did Rama think of J.EDGAR ? Looks like it is time to find out. Make to follow him on Facebook and Twitter . I think Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance, the make-up and costume design all deserve Oscar nods for J. EDGAR but I just can’t get into the film because it seems to me that it’s unable to make up its mind on how it would present J. Edgar Hoover. Oscar winning screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black, who I admire for his work on Milk, gets lost in spinning fascinating lines like “When Morals Decline and Good Men Do Nothing Evil Flourishes”, which to me is more or less another version of Edmund Burke’s famous quote, to decide if the audience wants to see the closet homosexual side of Hoover or the ambitious side of him, or the side that clings too much to his mother or the side the blackmails presidents using the files he’s accumulated and kept over the years. But today’s audience probably don’t know much about the man who ruled FBI for deca

Is Clint Eastwood Returning to Acting?

While Clint Eastwood was expected to follow directing J Edgar by directing A Star Is Born with Beyonce , her pregnancy has put that project off. Instead, I hear he’s seriously looking at starring in Trouble With The Curve , a project at Warner Bros that will mark the feature directorial debut of his Malpaso partner Robert Lorenz. The Randy Brown-scripted film is about an aging baseball scout, who’s losing his sight, and heads on a last road trip to Atlanta with his daughter to scout a hotshot prospect. They will lock Eastwood and Lorenz’s deals before setting an actress to play the daughter. Malpaso will produce. Aside from being Eastwood’s longtime business partner, Lorenz has been assistant director on many of Eastwood’s films, including Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River and Blood Work. Armie Hammer Cast In Snow White. Is Saoirse Ronan Next?

Saoirse Ronan could be cast opposite Armie Hammer in Relativity's The Brothers Grimm: Snow White that's an revisionist adult retelling of the fairy tale from director Tarsem Singh. Armie Hammer, fresh off The Social Network, has closed a deal to play Prince Andrew Alcott in the pic. But Ronan (Atonement, and the upcoming Hanna ) is still only "in discussions" for the title role. Julia Roberts already has been cast. It's worth noting that Relativity plans to be in production first for a June 29th, 2012, release before Universal's Snow White And The Huntsman starring Twilight saga superstar Kristen Stewart gets going and comes out December 21, 2012. Supposedly, Viggo Mortensen is shaky in that version. Relativity Media has closed a deal with The Social Network breakthrough star Armie Hammer to play Prince Andrew Alcott in its upcoming untitled Snow White feature, based on the Brothers Grimm story, directed by Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell). Sylvester Stallone Will Not Direct The Expendables 2

Fans of ' The Expendables " have been clamoring for a sequel since the final round of alter kocker gunfire went off last summer. Now it looks like they'll get their wish-- but without Sylvester Stallone behind the camera. The follow-up movie is a priority at producer Millennium Films, where it's being developed by Stallone, the creative force behind the original. But Stallone, who both starred in and directed the 2010 summer hit, isn't, at the moment, planning on helming the new movie. Instead, he's been meeting with directors to tackle the sequel, said a person who was briefed on the project but was not authorized to speak about it publicly. The script for the new movie has been written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman, the latter of whom counts the Clint Eastwood adventure "Space Cowboys" and family comedy "Curious George" among his credits, said the source. (Stallone co-wrote the script for the original with David Callaham.) A sp

Matthew Vaughn To Deliver "The Golden Age"

Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class writer/director/producer Matthew Vaughn tells me that a major Hollywood studio is very keen to fully fund his next big project: The Golden Age about a retirement home where superheroes end up. And the title is also a reference to early comic books of the 1930s when Superman and Batman first appeared. It's based on the yet-to-be-published comic book written by Brit TV chat show host Jonathan Ross, who’s a huge comics buff. Vaughn is currently in LA editing X-Men: First Class for Fox, but tells me he wants to get actors attached to the new project before the script is written. His wish list is Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, and Warren Beatty to play the retired superheroes who help out their grandchildren when their middle-aged parent screw up the world. Vaughn believes the success of The Expendables and Red shows that audiences are open to the idea of older action heroes. “You have these great star names and they’re mainly playing supportin
