BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Confirmed #RyanCoogler To Direct Black Panther

Marvel has confirmed Sacramento State's own Ryan Coogler will step up to direct Marvel’s “ Black Panther ,” in theaters February 16, 2018! Chadwick Boseman will star in “Black Panther” after debuting as the character in the upcoming Marvel’s “ Captain America: Civil War ,” in theaters May 6. “We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family,” said producer Kevin Feige. “The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther.’ Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.” Coogler wrote and directed his first award-winning feature film, “Fruitvale Station,” in 2013. Most recently he directed the critically-acclaimed “Creed,” which earned Sylvester Stallone a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. Black Panther has been an importa

SandwichJohn's 22 Most Anticipated Films Of 2016

Here is my personal most anticipated list for 2016. I am sure I have missed a few films that will end up on our radar later this year. Hail, Caesar! (February 5) The latest film from the Coen brothers features Josh Brolin as a Hollywood studio “fixer” in the 1950s, charged with tracking down a buffoonish star (George Clooney) who’s been kidnapped while filming a sword-and-sandal epic. Deadpool (February 12) The Marvel superhero Deadpool gets his own stand alone film. Ryan Reynolds plays the mercenary with a mouth who has little regard for human life, including his own. The film is scripted by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland). Tim Miller is set to make his directorial debut Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25) DC’s efforts to match Marvel’s cinematic universe kick off here, with this superhero showdown between Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill), plus appearances from other DC icons including Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Aquaman and more. Here’s an exclusive sample of that video, focusing on next May’s Captain America: Civil War. The Phase Two set includes Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man. Chadwick Boseman Talks Black Panther

With the first trailer for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finally online we got a quick glimpse at Chadwick Boseman in costume as Black Panther. If you were wondering quite how the man also known as T’Challa fits into the sprawling superhero slug-fest, Boseman has opened up to Entertainment Weekly on the subject. Set to be introduced in Civil War ahead of his own stand-alone film in 2018, Black Panther will show up as more of a neutral party in the conflict over the superhero-registering Sokovia Accords backed by Tony “Iron Man” Stark ( Robert Downey Jr .) and resisted by Steve “Captain America” Rogers ( Chris Evans ), though he’ll lean towards Tony's side of the argument. Just don’t expect him to be wise-cracking as much as some of the others. “He’s definitely not the life of the party in this instance,” Boseman tells EW. “I think this is something true of the comic book character and the movie. You never quite know where he stands. There’s always a bit of concealin

Baron Zemo Will Not Wear The Signature Mask In Captain America: Civil War

Baron Zemo will be the latest villain to enter the lucrative Marvel films when he makes his debut in next summer's " Captain America: Civil War ." And though there aren't many specifics out there of how the former top scientist of the Nazi party will be used against Steve Rogers and other members of the Avengers, we did get a little piece of news from the actor playing him, Daniel Brühl ("Inglorious Bastards"). While promoting his next movie, "Burnt," starring opposite Bradley Cooper (in theaters October 30), Brühl told Business Insider that Zemo will be without one of his trademark looks. "He does not wear the mask," he said, referring to the purple cloak the character is famous for wearing after a vat of powerful adhesive, known as Adhesive X, spilled all over him during a fight with Captain America, preventing Zemo from ever removing it. "You would be surprised, it's different than what you'd think," sai

Charlize Theron To Star In The Gray Man

According to Deadline Sony Pictures is in talks with Charlize Theron to come aboard The Gray Man , an adaptation of the Mark Greaney novel that at one time had Brad Pitt ready to star with James Gray directing.   Theron is in the process of attaching herself as the star, with her Denver and Delilah label coming aboard as producers alongside Joe Roth. The script is by Joe and Anthony Russo, who were at one time attached as directors before they got busy with Captain America: Civil War and the next two installments of The Avengers . The thriller focuses on an expert CIA op-turned-assassin who is forced to evade adversaries as he saves the lives of daughters he didn’t know he had. Obviously that is harder to do when the protagonist is female, but I guess they’ll figure it out. Sony famously changed the gender of another spy thriller, Salt, which was tailored for Angelina Jolie after Tom Cruise bowed out of the lead role. It doesn’t happen that often and puts Theron in rare terri

Kevin Feige Talks The Importance Spider-Man’s Role Is In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

As the chief at Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige usually has a lot to say – within reason – about the future of the films he oversees. He spoke at an event to promote the release of Avengers: Age Of Ultron on home entertainment in LA on Tuesday night ( attended by IGN ) and expounded on several topics, including the new Spider-Man ’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Asked about the deal to bring Spidey – now to be played by Tom Holland – into the Marvel fold (at least occasionally), Feige was predictably upbeat. " Making that agreement was great, and was really amazing, and on a personal level making these movies, it means a lot because I think we can do great things with Spider-Man," he said. "I think Spider-Man can serve great purpose in our universe and that's where he belongs. That was what was unique about him in the comics was not that he was the only superhero in the world; it's that he was a totally different kind of superhero when compared against

Chris Evans Joins Marc Webb's "Gifted"

Deadline is reporting The Amazing Spider-Man 2 helmer Marc Webb has locked as his next film Gifted at Fox Searchlight. Chris Evans has been set to star in the Tom Flynn-scripted drama, which focuses on a man who sues for custody of his gifted niece. While that film will come first, with production to begin in the fall, there is also movement on The Only Living Boy In New York, the Allan Loeb-scripted film. Loeb’s script made the Black List. Evans is currently shooting Captain America: Civil War, the film that unveils the new Spider-Man, first time for a Marvel Studios film. Fox 2000, and discussions are underway with Jeff Bridges and Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike to round out an unusual romantic triangle for a film that would shoot next year. Teller is attached to play a recent college grad who learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, only to become involved with the woman as well. With advice from a questionable quirky neighbor, the yo

Tom Holland Is The New Spider-Man

Spider-Man 3.0 just got bitten. By Brandon Wolfe A new Spider-Man has been chosen. Tom Holland has been cast as Peter Parker in the upcoming Sony/Marvel joint production, which will be directed by Jon Watt. Holland emerged as the victor from a casting pool that also contained actors Asa Butterfield and Charlie Roe. The actor screen-tested twice, once with Robert Downey Jr and the other time with Chris Evans. Holland will appear with Evans in Captain America: Civil War , which is currently shooting. “Sony, Marvel, Kevin and I all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world,” said producer Amy Pascal. “With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” Watt got the directing gig after Ted Melfi ( St. Vincent ) and Jonathan Levine ( Warm Bodies ) removed themselves from contention. Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige says, “We h

Ruffalo Says Hulk Might Be In Captain America: Civil War

The Other Guy might be enlisting. By Brandon Wolfe At last count, the only major Marvel heroes not appearing in Captain America: Civil War were Thor and the Hulk, and now we might be down to just one absence. In an interview with Hitfix , Mark Ruffalo claims that he has been told that the green giant will be appearing in the film after all, but this comes solely from co-star Robert Downey Jr., not from any of the official Marvel brass. Says Ruffalo: “Robert Downey Jr. says I'm in Captain America, I'm in Captain America dammit. And I will wait for the day that my call sheet shows up at my doorstep or my script. At this point, I'm told that I'm in it by Robert, which I'll take as biblical, but I just haven't heard or seen from production yet." With or without the Hulk, Civil War is now shooting and will be released May 6, 2016. Discuss this story with fellow SJF fans on Facebook . Asa Butterfield In Talks for Spider-Man

Ender's game to join the MCU. By Brandon Wolfe Reported weeks ago as one of a handful of finalists for the role of the new Spider-Man , Ender’s Game star Asa Butterfield has entered early talks to portray Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War before headlining his own film for Sony. While Deadline states that other candidates are still “in the mix,” the 18-year-old Butterfield has emerged as the frontrunner to bring a dash of youthfulness into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where one expects he will be called “squirt” or “sport” by Tony Stark. Sony Narrows Down List of Spider-Man Contenders

Five young actors caught in casting web. By Brandon Wolfe Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have reportedly narrowed down a shortlist of potential actors to slip into the red onesie as the latest incarnation of Spider-Man . The contenders include Nat Wolff ( The Fault in Our Stars ), Asa Butterfield ( Ender’s Game ), Tom Holland ( The Impossible ), Timothee Chalamet ( Interstellar ) and Liam James ( The Way, Way Back ), according to The Wrap . Sony is set to make test offers next week and are expected to select a winner in the next few weeks. While none of these five actors yet have test offers, sources have confirmed they are definitely in contention for the part. The character, who recently became available to Marvel in an unprecedented joint-custody agreement with Sony, is expected to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with next year’s Captain America: Civil War , which begins shooting in June. If the casting timetable plays out as expected, a new Spidey sho

Relax, Fellas. Dudes Are Also Getting a Ghostbusters

Bustin’ to make guys feel good again. By Brandon Wolfe Opponents to the recently announced female-driven Ghostbusters reboot (who have been nothing if not a perfectly reasonable and gentlemanly lot) can take solace in the news that Sony is also producing a male-centric Ghostbusters film as a companion piece to Paul Feig’s film. The studio has launched Ghostcorps, a production shingle headed up by original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and star Dan Aykroyd, and plans are in the works to trap a lot of promising talent into the project’s proton stream. Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Civil War , recently signed a first-look deal at Sony and are looking to direct and produce this latest Ghostbusters , with Iron Man 3 and Mission: Impossible 5 scribe Drew Pearce writing the script. Channing Tatum is also attached as a producer, with an eye to star in the film. “We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways

Could Spider-Man Show Up In Captain America: Civil War?

We postulate the future of Sony's Spider-man franchise (or lack thereof). For any of you who have enjoyed the single most amazing run of superhero films ever produced, Sony Pictures' Spider-man films might not even make your list. We wouldn't blame you: The Amazing Spider-man 2 's over-bloated storyline earned it the smallest box office totals of the franchise (including Sam Raimi's version), immediately placing Ol' Web Head at the back of superhero bus. In July, Sony moved The Amazing Spider-Man 3 from 2016 to 2018 (which really means it won't happen at all), replacing it with a 'soft reboot' and featuring The Sinister Six . There's also been talk of a female superhero film (maybe Spider-woman). But no one knew the true issues facing the studio, that is until the largest hack in Hollywood's history opened the door to a company struggling to figure out their next moves. According to details revealed in hacked email correspond

Daniel Bruhl Cast In Captain America: Civil War

Marvel's sequel also stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chadwick Boseman Marvel has cast “Rush” star Daniel Bruhl in “ Captain America: Civil War ,” Marvel announced on Friday, with sources telling TheWrap that Bruhl will play one of the sequel's villains who could return in other Marvel movies including “ Doctor Strange .” Joe and Anthony Russo are directing the new “Captain America” movie, which hits theaters on May 6, 2016. Bruhl joins Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), and Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) in “Captain America: Civil War.” “With Daniel's ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes,” said producer Kevin Feige of Marvel. Bruhl earned Golden Globe, SAG, BAFTA and Critics’ Choice nominations for his role as Niki Lauda in director Ron Howard‘s “Rush.” In addition to Howard, Bruhl has also worked with other este
