BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Eddie Murphy To Host The Academy Awards

It's official: Eddie Murphy will host the 84th annual Academy Awards , which ABC will broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Feb. 26. Brett Ratner and Don Mischer, who are producing the annual awards show, presented their choice on Tuesday to officials at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, who signed off on Murphy hosting. It will be the first time that Murphy, who shot to fame in the 1980s, first on Saturday Night Live, and then in movies like 48 Hrs. and Beverly Hills Cop, has hosted the show. He has appeared as a presenter on several broadcasts, most recently in 2009 when he presented the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Jerry Lewis. He also received an Oscar nomination as best supporting actor for his performance in the 2006 musical Dreamgirls. "Eddie is a comedic genius, one of the greates and most influential live performers ever," Ratner said. "With his love of movies, history of crafting unforgettable characters and hi

Chris Tucker Joining "The Rabbit"

Will Chris Tucker Hop Like A Rabbit? Considering how little he tends to work (at least when Brett Ratner's not on the phone), you’d almost think there’d be some sort of alarm when Chris Tucker ’s linked to a new project. Maybe a recording of his weird DJ from The Fifth Element? Anyway, no matter what it sounds like, Warner Bros. is pulling the chain to fire it up as the studio has just bought The Rabbit , a spec script that will likely feature him. There aren’t actually any details about the screenplay to hand just yet, though we do know that newcomer Micah Barnett wrote it and, according to Deadline , it’ll be an action comedy in the Midnight Run mould. So that probably means Tucker being a loud mouth and getting tracked down for something, then forming an unlikely partnership with a grouchy, mumbling partner. But that’s just a guess, of course. The only other solid information is that regular Warners producer Dan Lin – he of the Sherlock Holmes movies, and the man currentl

Beverly Hills Cop 4 Update-Don't Expect Anytime Soon

Don't Expect Anytime Soon I for one would like to see this movie get fast tracked. On my top ten Favorite movies would have to be Beverly Hills Cop 2. The third movie should be whipped out of all our memory. Horrible movie! Tired of Eddie Murphy making all these kids flick, I understand the pay checks are nice, But I would like to see him return to his old self with all the foul language and humor he once had. Eddie Murphy and director Brett Ratner have been hanging out on Manhattan's Upper West Side recently, shooting exteriors outside the Trump International Hotel for their upcoming comedy, " Tower Heist ." During their downtime on the long-delayed film — when they're not enjoying some seriously fancy craft services courtesy of chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, whose acclaimed restaurant resides on Trump's ground floor — Ratner and Murphy have been discussing another long-in-the-works project: a fourth " Beverly Hills Cop " flick. "Oh

Eddie Murphy Set To Star In "Tower Heist"

Finally An Adult Film For Eddie Murphy Finally Eddie Murphy is getting back into the game. My man has been making kids movies for the last couple of years. Its' going to be good seeing him in an adult film. I was really hoping to bring you some news on him making a return with a Beverly Hills Cop 4 film, but looks like this is the best I got for now. Eddie Murphy is set to join Ben Stiller and Alan Alda in Tower Heist , the Brett Ratner -directed caper film for Universal Pictures. Imagine's Brian Grazer is producing, and Murphy will join Karen Kehela Sherwood and Kim Roth as executive producers. Jeff Nathanson, Ratner's accomplice in the Rush Hour films, is rewriting the latest version by Ted Griffin. Murphy has been mentioned as a possible participant going back to the film's original configuration as an African American version of Ocean's Eleven , when it was called Trump Heist . Trump was dropped as was that casting equation, and now, the storyline deal

Brett Ratner To Direct Ben Stiller In "Tower Heist"

Brett Ratner To Direct Ben Stiller In "Tower Heist" A $50 million van Gogh masterpiece was swiped Saturday from a Cairo museum by thieves who took advantage of lax security, simply walked in and liberated a painting from its frame with a box cutter. In Hollywood, the planning and execution of a good heist is never that simple. After almost four years, Universal Pictures is aiming Tower Heist for a November production start in New York. Brett Ratner will direct. Ben Stiller stars as the overworked manager of a luxury building who, along with other staff, lost their pensions to a Bernie Madoff-like Wall Street crook. It so happens that the fraudster is being held under house arrest in the luxury penthouse apartment upstairs, and the manager and four cohorts figure a heist will make them whole. The film’s produced by Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, and Kim Roth is executive producer. This heist has among its architects some of the town's top screenwriters: A

“Tower Heist" Lands Ben Stiller And Noah Baumbach

“Tower Heist" Lands Ben Stiller And Noah Baumbach “Tower Heist,” Brett Ratner’s next film, is going full speed ahead at Universal. I’m told that Noah Baumbach has just been signed to polish up the screenplay originally written by Ted Griffin. Back then it was envisioned as a black “Ocean’s Eleven,” with Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock being talked about as the leads. (Indeed, Griffin wrote “Oceans.”) But time does a funny thing to movie projects. “Tower Heist” now looks like it will star Ben Stiller overseeing a cast of guys that could be all colors — maybe even blue, considering recent events in film land. The story has also changed somewhat, from being a pure heist movie to the story of a bunch of blue collar guys on a mercy mission. It turns out the main tenant of this Trump Tower-like building has bilked the employees’ pension fund in a huge Ponzi scheme. More details I don’t want to give away, but word is that Ratner, of course, would probably like James Caan to play that charac

Bryan Singer In Talks To Return To "X-Men"

Bryan Singer In Talks To Return To "X-Men" This is good news to my ears. I thought that the last X-Men movie was a bomb with Brett Ratner directing the movie,i feel that it almost killed the franchise. Bryan Singer said Sunday he's interested in making another "X-Men" movie and has discussed the possibility with Twentieth Century Fox. The American director made "X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United," but passed on the third installment so he could make "Superman Returns.""Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner ended up shooting that film, "X-Men: The Last Stand." South African filmmaker Gavin Hood made another spin-off, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which was released earlier this year. "I'm still looking to possibly returning to the 'X-Men' franchise. I've been talking to Fox about it," Singer said he enjoyed making science fiction and fantasy movies because they allowed him to discuss seriou

Beverly Hills Cop 4 Huge Priority

Beverly Hills Cop 4 Huge Priority I for one would like to see this movie get fast tracked. On my top ten Favorite movies would have to be Beverly Hills Cop 2 . The third movie should be whipped out of all our memory. Horrible movie! Tired of Eddie Murphy making all these kids flick, I understand the pay checks are nice, But I would like to see him return to his old self with all the foul language and humor he once had. Director Brett Ratner discussed the risky business of integrating brands into movies Thursday at an Advertising Week event focused on "consumer attention in a media-saturated world." Using the example of his current "Beverly Hills Cop" project -- which Ratner said is "a huge priority for Paramount -- the director said that Eddie Murphy will need to drive a car in the film, and that he has to figure out which one. Rather than doing a deal with a car maker and trying to force its product into the story, Ratner said the process must work the oth

Brett Ratner Not Directing Conan Movie

Brett Ratner Not Directing Conan Movie Here is some good news for all you Conan Fans. Brett Ratner will not be Directing the Conan Movie. Thank Crom. Its Great news that he will not allowed him ruin another movie Franchise, Like he has done in the past. "X Men Last Stand " Empire magazine spoke to Conan and Red Sonja producer Joe Gatta today, and he had a few revelations to share about the upcoming films. Most importantly, it appears that Brett Ratner is currently off Conan, which he was expected to direct. "We’re currently in the process of hiring a director," he told us. "For the past six months we were discussing the movie with Brett Ratner, and for more timing issues than anything else we had to part ways with Brett. We all wanted him to do it, believe me; just the timing didn’t work. But you never know what can happen." That last comment would appear to leave the door open for a return for Ratner, should his schedule free up (he's currently got abo
