The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnolia Pictures announced today they have acquired US rights to 360 , the sweeping new film from two acclaimed artists: director Fernando Meirelles (City of God, The Constant Gardener) and writer Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon). With a stellar international cast that includes Rachel Weisz, Anthony Hopkins, Jude Law, Ben Foster, Jamel Debbouze and Moritz Bleibtreu , 360 is a moving and exciting dramatic thriller that dazzlingly weaves together the stories of an array of people from disparate social backgrounds through their intersecting relationships. 360 was produced by Andrew Eaton and David Linde with Chris Hanley, Danny Krausz and Emanuel Michael. Ben Foster has been cast as John Gotti Jr. in Barry Levinson’s Gotti: In The Shadow of my Father , starring John Travolta, Al Pacino and Kelly Preston . Levinson begins shooting the independent film, scripted by James Toback and produced by Fiore Films, in New York in January. The project has the blessing of Gotti Jr., and delves into his relationship with his father, John Gotti Sr., the head of the Gambino crime family. Gotti Sr. will be played by Travolta. Foster’s film credits include The Mechanic, 3:10 to Yuma and X-Men: The Last Stand . His television credits include HBO’s Six Feet Under. Levinson, the writer and director of Diner, Tin Men and Avalon, took over the project after director Nick Cassavetes bowed out in May over scheduling conflicts. Foster Joins Wahlberg & Beckinsale In Contraband Ben Foster will be joining Mark Wahlberg & Kate Beckinsale for the remake of 2008 Icelandic film Reykjavic-Rotterdam . The film will shoot under the title of " Contraband ." The film is being directed by Baltasar Kormakur, who starred in, produced and co-wrote the original. Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing with Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Kormakur. Oskar Jonasson directed the original, in which Kormakur played a former smuggler trying to go straight as a night guard. When his wife’s brother (who got him the job) botches a smuggling run, his life threatened and the protagonist is dragged in for one more job. Universal, originally intended to finance the film, then passed when the budget came in at $40 million. Relativity Media stepped in, but encouraged the filmmakers to try bringing down the cost. Trailer For The Mechanic Starring Jason Statham The 1972 film The Mechanic, has been remade and this time it stars bad ass Jason Statham playing the lead role. And Ben Foster starring opposite Statham. The film is directed by Simon West(Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) The movie is an action-thriller that centers on an assassin and his apprentice. This trailer is pretty awesome, I love what director Simon West is doing with it, this movie is going to be a classic Statham action flick. Note that this is a sales trailer, rather than a teaser or final theatrical trailer. It is meant for distributors, rather than audiences. The film doesn’t yet have distribution, and consequently there is no release date or timeframe for a real theatrical trailer.
