BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Female Director Wanted For "Wonder Woman" Film

In its efforts to be seen as competing with Marvel’s ever-expanding movie universe, Warner Bros. put out its own slate of Justice League-flavoured films recently. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio and DC Comics are looking to change things up behind the camera, aiming to hire a female director for Wonder Woman . While it shouldn't have to be seen as a landmark decision, the fact remains that despite early discussions on several films, there has yet to be a female director on either Warner Bros. or Marvel’s current efforts (you have to reach back to 2008’s Punisher: War Zone to find Lexi Alexander bringing a studio effort to life). And finding a good director to bring Gal Gadot ’s first solo outing as Wonder Woman would be a firm step forward on that front. No names were mentioned in the piece, but there are several good candidates out there, ranging from known film names like Mimi Leder and Kathryn Bigelow and less famous but equally capable people su

Could Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor Appear In Suicide Squad Film?

Flush with ambition for their new slate of superhero adventures, Warner Bros. and DC appear to be planning more crossovers. Nothing is confirmed yet, but according to Deadline , the companies are talking to Jesse Eisenberg about bringing his take on Lex Luthor from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice to the film based on the Suicide Squad that has David Ayer attached to direct. As of right now, it’s only at the discussion stage mostly because Eisenberg has a busy schedule ahead. He’s already on board for Now You See Me 2 and has been circling a role in Todd Phillips’ planned new based-on-reality stoner comedy Arms & The Dudes . This would clearly indicate that Eisenberg’s version of Superman’s most famous villain won’t be suffering a Zod-style neck snap at the end of Dawn Of Justice and will be hanging around the DC movie universe to cause trouble. His presence in Suicide Squad (which finds a group of the comic-world’s biggest supervillains recruited for dangerous miss

Could Jena Malone Play A Female "Robin" In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

“ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ” will reportedly feature a female Robin, with actress Jena Malone rumored to be playing Carrie Kelly, according to a local news station in Detroit. WILX-10 News station reporter Kirk Montgomery spoke with one of the extras at Michigan State University, where a scene involving Bruce Wayne ( Ben Affleck ) and Lex Luthor ( Jesse Eisenberg ) was being filmed this week. “I’ve also learned that the character of Robin is now female,” he said alluding to the film’s top secret script. Warner Bros. declined to comment. Malone, who appeared in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” has been seen on the WB set and recent movie premieres sporting a new red hairdo. Casting rumors for “Batman v Superman” have been in high demand since director Zack Snyder revealed the project at Comic-Con last year. The anonymous extra who spoke to WILX faces a hefty fine of $5 million after signing a non-disclosure agreement with Warner Bros. “Batman v Superman: Dawn

BATMOBILE Is Here. Official Image Of The Bad Ass Ride.

Thus far, Zack Snyder and his Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice team have done their best to get out ahead of spy snoopers and set snappers to put some of the more central imagery – Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman – online officially in decent lighting. But with the recent set leak of new Batmobile shots, Snyder is playing catch-up, releasing a fresh official pic of Bruce Wayne’s new wheels. Apparently Batman's dislike of guns doesn't extend to the vehicular sort. And no Batman looking sad next to it, like he’s just discovered his tax disc ran out, either. Shot by unit photographer Clay Enos, it’s a proper glimpse of the car Affleck will be tooling around in come 2016. The movie, of course, finds Henry Cavill’s Superman going up against Affleck’s vigilante, though it won’t be long before they team up (we imagine) to fight the likes of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor or meet some other potential Justice League team members. With Diane Lane, Amy Adams, H

Is This The New Batmobile?

Was this armored car designed for the Dark Knight? New images, which purportedly show the new Batmobile , were posted this morning by two Detroit-based Instagram users (one of whom has since removed his photo). The pictures above and below were reportedly taken near the River Rouge suburb of Detroit, where director Zack Snyder has been filming his Man of Steel follow-up Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice . The photos, which were posted by Instagram user amacro13 , have not been verified by Warner Bros. — but the car does look like it belongs in Gotham City. Slashfilm points out that the design is very similar to the Batmobile from the videogame Arkham Knight, which is being released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in June 2015. Based on the angles of the new pictures, it’s difficult to compare this Batmobile to the first official photos tweeted by Snyder, which show only the hood and rear wheels of the car. #BATMANVSUPERMAN Set Photo

As filming continues in Detroit on “ Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice ,” more and more set photos are hitting the web. First there were a handful that showed Ben Affleck as non-Batman Bruce Wayne,. Nothing too exciting, but today we finally got some real superhero stuff. Henry Cavill took a stroll to his trailer, trying and failing to keep his flowing Kryptonian garb under the black robe meant to stop onlookers from getting photos. But everyone in the world knows what Superman looks like. Why make Cavill throw on the extra layer? You mean Superman’s costume looks almost identical to the one in “Man of Steel”!? As a number of side-by-sides have already pointed out, Superman’s costume in “Dawn of Justice” is slightly different than the one in “Man of Steel,” which doesn’t make sense if you think about it, right? Superman found his suit on that 18,000-year-old ship. How is there a new one? Maybe we’ll get an explanation in “Dawn of Justice.” Where ever Kal-El did pick up this

Batman v. Superman Moves Release Date

At the same time, Warner Bros. dates no fewer than nine untitled DC Comics titles all the way through June 2020. In order to avoid a direct confrontation with Captain America 3 , Zack Snyder's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is moving up from May 6, 2016, to March 25, the beginning of Easter weekend. Batman v. Superman , which stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill , was widely expected to move, since Marvel Studios and Disney had claimed the May 2016 weekend first. Warner Bros. and DC Comics announced the new date Wednesday alongside dates for nine untitled DC Comics titles through June 2020. That means two superhero movies a year from Warner Bros., beginning in 2016. With the move, Warners and DC are essentially declaring war on Marvel and Disney, which have been the most prolific suppliers of superhero titles. The new dates announced by Warners are Aug. 8, 2016; June 23, 2017; Nov. 17, 2017; March 23, 2018; July 27, 2018; April 5, 2019; June 14, 2019; April 3, 2020; an

The First Official Image from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

The first official image arrives. See it here. Although Dawn of Justice is nearly two years away, fans have been clamoring for hints about Director Zack Synder's superhero team-up. Earlier this year, we got images of both the Batmobile and of Batman himself , suggesting a much bigger universe than a Henry Cavill follow-up to a very divisive movie ( see our review of Man of Steel here ). And although we saw Cavill in a behind-the-scenes image of him as Clark Kent, this wasn't quite the one we were hoping for. Until today. Warner Bros has released the first official image from Dawn of Justice. The image, debuted by USA Today, suggests a much darker tone than Man of Steel: Here, we see a more serious Superman than perhaps we would have expected. That's not to say the entire film will be this tonally dark, but Snyder's decision to move Supes into the 21st Century was one reason why we loved MofS so much. The image gives us hints to the story's plot a

Batman Solo Film Coming in 2019?

We've got the rundown that Batman will return with a solo project. With the first Batman/Superman film given a title earlier this month , DC and Warner Bros surprised many people when an outlet leaked what appeared to be a very ambitious schedule of superhero films lasting through 2018. Films like a Flash/Green Lantern team up and a Shazam origin story are planned to join the ranks of pre-planned films like Sandman. News also broke recently of Jason Momoa signing on to play Aquaman , who could appear in Dawn of Justice. For many, the lack of a standalone Batman film wasn't surprising, as CHristopher Nolan's Batman series is arguably the best interpretation of the Caped Crusader. But don't be so sure that DC/WB think so. According to Latino Review, the companies are planning another film with a 2019 release, with the working title of The Batman . On paper, this announcement seems to make sense, as Batman actor Ben Affleck will write, direct, and star in his

Josh Hartnett: Why He Turned Down #Superman, #Batman & #SpiderMan

Josh Hartnett sat down with Details to promote his upcoming film PENNY DREADFUL, and he was asked a few questions why he turned down Superman, Batman and Spider-Man roles. I am sure he is kicking himself in the ass right about now. Read the interview after the Jump... DETAILS : You're 35 now, but in your twenties, you got offered pretty much everything. You turned down Superman Returns, and you were in talks to play almost every other superhero. Josh Hartnett: Spider-Man was something we talked about. Batman was another one. But I somehow knew those roles had potential to define me, and I didn't want that. I didn't want to be labeled as Superman for the rest of my career. I was maybe 22, but I saw the danger. DETAILS: Your agents must have been slitting their wrists. Josh Hartnett: I didn't have those agents for much longer after that. There was a lot of infighting between my manager and agents, trying to figure out who to put the blame on. It got

Who Will Jada Pinkett Smith Play In Fox’s Batman Prequel Gotham?

Fox’s Batman prequel Gotham has signed Jada Pinkett Smith to its cast, but you’ll literally never guess who she’s playing. Catwoman? Harley Quinn? A gender twist on The Riddler or Joker , perhaps? We’re told Mrs. Will Smith will play … “ Fish Mooney .” That name should leave even die-hard DC Comics fans scratching their heads. In the show, Fish is “a sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner, she’s got the street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book. Imposing and hotheaded, she’s not one to be crossed.” Fish Mooney also the boss of a young psycho named Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), who eventually becomes The Penguin (and we all know what penguins eat … right?). The casting marks The Matrix Reloaded and Revolution‘s actress return to TV following the axing of her 2009 medical drama TNT series Hawthorne. Sources close to the production say Fish is likely an entirely original character. But since all the other characters

Batman: Arkham City Game Review

Friend of mine and sometime contributor to the site has started his own site called " onepercase.net " and if you ever need information of action figure, customizing figure or even video games, this is the site to go to. Now onto their review of Batman: Arkham City Joe here!! So… on Tuesday I picked up my copy of Arkham City from Gamestop. Much to the protestations of Jason… who wanted to take advantage of the Toys R Us BOGO deal. My bad. I’ve already put about 10 hours into the game already and I’ve only completed 25%. I’d call that good game length. As for what’s in the game? I’ll try not to spoil too much... I like to talk about stuff... ask Jason, he still hasn't forgiven me for the ' Darth Maul ' incident. Anywho... The game picks up 6 months after the events that transpired in Arkham Asylum . Batman defeats a choice selection of some of his best villains, leaves The Joker atop the asylum for the police to pick up and Warden Sharp disappears. Fas

Val Kilmer The Best Batman Ever According To Joel Schumacher

Earlier this week, IFC spoke to " Trespass " director Joel Schumacher about Christopher Nolan 's record-breaking run with Batman -- a character near and dear to his heart after he made not one but two films featuring the DC Comics icon. While Schumacher's first adventure with Batman was a box-office success -- 1995's " Batman Forever " -- his 1997 " Batman & Robin " sequel didn't fare as well. Along with near-universal negative reviews, the film failed to perform at the box office and eventually became known as the film that "killed" the Batman franchise (until Nolan came along, of course). "Sequels are made for one reason," Schumacher told IFC during an interview promoting his new film "Trespass" with Nicolas Cage. "Because 'Batman Forever' was an unexpected sensation, and the second-biggest grossing movie for the whole year, and everyone made so much money out of 'Batman Forever,&#

David Goyer To Write Screenplay For Legendary Pictures Godzilla Reboot

David Goyer has worked with Thomas Tull's Legendary Pictures on both Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy and the new Superman reboot Man Of Steel . Now the in-demand writer will pen the screenplay, from a draft written by David Callaham, for Legendary Pictures’ new version of Godzilla. The project will fall under Legendary's overall agreement with Warner Bros while Toho Company, which own the rights to the oversized reptile, will distribute the film in Japan. Toho’s Godzilla franchise boasts one of the most widely recognized film creatures worldwide, resulting in a series of books, television programs, video games and more than 25 films worldwide. Legendary intends to approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible and was smart to get a pro like Goyer on board so early in the process since he has so much experience creating franchises. Of course, Sony Pictures in 1998 tried to jumpstart a Godzilla franchise and that disappointed. And the first Godz

Justice League Movie& Batman Reinvented Films Coming In 2013?

Jeff Robinov is already thinking about DC Comics movies for 2013 and beyond, and he’s got “ Justice League ” and a reinvented Batman on his mind. The president of the Warner Bros. motion picture group, who recently sat down for an extensive interview with The Times, discussed his long-term strategy for DC beyond movies already in the works, such as June’s “ Green Lantern ” and next year’s “ The Dark Knight Rises ” and Superman movie . The first priority for the man with the ultimate say on what films get made at Warner Bros.: Finally getting the Justice League, DC’s team featuring all its top characters, on the big screen in 2013. The picture had been very close to production in late 2007 and early 2008, but was killed by the Writers Guild of America strike, tax credit issues in Australia, and concerns by some at Warner about presenting a competing (and conflicting) version of Batman while director Christopher Nolan’s films were breaking box office records. But Robinov said a n

Splitting Heroes Down the Middle By: Jonathan Cyfer

Splitting Heroes Down the Middle By: Jonathan Cyfer  It's not completely unheard of to have a particular character appear both in a TV series and in films. After all, Clark Kent has enjoyed a robust lifetime on the silver screen and in the Smallville TV series. 2012 will bring us the latest Superman film , but it's presumed that the Smallville series will end after the conclusion of the current 2010/2011 season. This avoids confusion among the fans between the different incarnations and storylines involving the same character, however that isn't going to be the case with all superhero franchises. I'm sure you're all aware of the latest Incredible Hulk (2008) film and the fact that this character (with a change of actors playing Bruce Banner ) will be appearing in the upcoming Avengers (2012) film. I just found out that a new, live action Incredible Hulk TV show is being developed for ABC. Many Hulk fans fondly remember the Hulk TV series (1978-1982) sta
