THR is reporting the Jack Black -fronted comedy horror did well enough that Sony is now trying to line up a sequel. Director Rob Letterman and writer Darren Lemke are in the middle of hashing out deals to come back for more monster madness, and the studio suits are hoping to snag Black's services once again. He'd be back playing a version of author R.L. Stine, on whose books the movie was based. After nearly two decades spent lingering in development hell, the filmmakers cracked the idea of adapting several of Stine's books for an adventure that sees some of his famous creations let loose from their literary prisons. We'd expect more of the same in any sequel. There's no indication yet whether the other cast (which included Amy Ryan, Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush ) might come back, but the studio is likely just focused on winning Black back.
