BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Inside the Bucket Podcast #70

This week's episode of Inside the Bucket is online! Revel in the digital mastery! It's a podcast of epicly-long proportions as Inside the Bucket brings together, Matt, Brandon, and SandwichJohn for some pre- Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation highjinks. Opera had its Three Tenors, and Inside the Bucket has three of the finest windbags ready and waiting to deliver the best movie and television news from our website SANDWICHJOHNFILMS.COM with all the style of a bull and full of greasy attitude. The show kicks off with our news segment, as the trio discuss several stories from the past week, including news on the Jurassic World sequel, trailers for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 as well as SPECTRE , and a possible Fantastic Four/X-Men film. They discuss a very close weekend box office, which wasn't decided until Monday, as well as discuss three Blu-rays releasing this week. And this is where things turn epic. The boys combine their Rants and

#BoxOffice Report: #AntMan Beats Bad #Pixels

Adam Sandler continues to disappoint in a very weak weekend Story by Matt Cummings In one of the closest Box Office races this year, Marvel Studios' Ant-Man held on to the number 1 spot, narrowly beating the competition, with an estimated $24.65 million. The Adam Sandler comedy Pixels arrived in second with $24m. But even as the battle raged all weekend - with Pixels beating Ant-Man on Friday, then the positions flip-flopping at least one more time between the days - it became clear box office hauls across the board were lower than expected. But the sting behind Sandler's latest disappointment is particularly pronounced. Stilted by a juvenile script and sadly familiar characterizations of hot women needing ugly, stupid men, Pixels has been lambasted by both critics (earning only 19% on Rotten Tomatoes) and receiving only a 'B' on Cinemascore. Its $24m haul is among the lowest Sandler-led films and perhaps a warning that his stature has finally

#BoxOffice Report: 'Ant-Man' Wins Tiny Weekend; 'Trainwreck' Surprises

Even an original Avenger can't bring home the ants. Story by Matt Cummings Marvel Studios can breathe a sigh of relief (sort of), as their record of 11 consecutive #1 openings remains intact. But while Ant-Man won the weekend with an estimated $57.23 million, the box office celebration is sure to be short. That's because early hopes of $65m fell as Friday turned to Saturday, led by 'seen that before in Iron Man ' comments. By the time it was done, the Paul Rudd heist comedy had barely beaten 2008's The Incredible Hulk , which holds the lowest opening among the 12 Marvel Studios films at $55.41m. Coming in at number 2 was Minions , which took it on the chin, plunging 57% to $49.27m. And that number was boosted by a ridiculous 4,300 theater count, which means it could have slid even further had it gotten the typical 3,100 treatment. The highly-anticipated Universal/Illumination Entertainment spin-off suffered from both poor reviews and perhaps la

Movie Review: #AntMan

Ant-Man isn't the disaster that we feared but it's not an unqualified success either. Review by Matt Cummings Among the oldest Avengers in Marvel Comics, Ant-Man is also the least appreciated. He has neither the hammer nor the iron suit, and his ability to grow multi-stories or shrink to the tiniest proportions still didn't make him more popular compared to The Hulk. Thus when Marvel Studios announced a standalone Ant-Man movie, average viewers had every right to ask, "Who?" A troubled production almost from the beginning, the movie replaced its director/visionary Edgar Wright with comedic helmer Peyton Reed, and then proceeded to bore audiences, both at 2014's San Diego Comic-Con and with a less-than-memorable marketing campaign. And while the final version isn't the disaster I expected, it certainly misses a lot. After the loss of his wife, Doctor Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) decides to hang up his Ant-Man persona in order to keep it an

Marvel Collector Corps Review: June 2015

Marvel's second submission is...well...smallish. Review by Matt Cummings The opening salvo by Marvel Collector Corps in the subscription box war resulted in a fabulous and memorable April , complete with a great Funko Hulkbuster and impressive t-shirt, along with a ton of other stuff. Whether it could sustain it with a solid June followup was the only question/concern, while competing with excellent Loot Crates from April , May , and June . Well, the boxes have shipped and I'm force to utter the same word I've used to summarize my entire feeling about the Ant-man movie: MEH. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the deal again: promising a value of $50, the box would keep the "fluff" (their words) to a minimum with Funko partnering each time to deliver an exclusive figure. Joining at the Founders level would get you an 8" exclusive figure on your one-year anniversary, but you can also subscribe at the Collector level at $25 with $

See Six Minutes of 'Ant-Man' at IMAX's 'Jurassic World'

We explain why this announcement makes total sense to Marvel. Story by Matt Cummings Marvel's Ant-Man is entering its last month of marketing, with trailers and select images already released. But the buzz for its actual release hasn't been as strong as for other Marvel films. Audiences are either not sure about the character's importance to the MCU, or they've still worried about Edgar Wright's departure affecting the film. Therefore, it comes as little surprise that Marvel - always the showman, even in the face of possible defeat - is upping their Ant-man game by releasing six minutes of the film with Jurassic World (IMAX only) this weekend. We're not sure if this footage will appear after the weekend, but its appearance achieves two important goals: it brings in the curious who might not have a stated interest in Jurassic World but are curious about Ant-man , and shores up Marvel's (perhaps) wavering interest in the film. It's an

New #ANTMAN Images

Empire got their hands on three new Ant-Man images. See all the images after the Jump... Michael Douglas is super scientist Hank Pym, the man who creates the technology that powers the Ant-Man suit, while Evangeline Lilly is Hope Van Dyne, his estranged daughter. Paul Rudd's Scott Lang is the thief who Pym takes under his wing to become the new, modern Ant-Man. You can also see (under a magnifiying glass) Corey Stoll's Darren Cross in his Yellowjacket suit, the villain of the piece. Cross is the former protege of Pym, and the man who has taken over his business and plans to use the Ant-Man tech for military purposes. The Yellowjacket suit is the super-slick version of the old-school Ant-Man outfit, something you probably worked out from the blasting lasers you saw in the trailer. Please Leave A Comment-

Jurassic World On Track For $100 Million Opening

Dino sequel might be summer's only dino-sized opening. By Brandon Wolfe Deadline reports that Universal’s Jurassic World , opening June 12, is tracking for a domestic opening weekend of between $100-130 million, roughly in line with Man of Steel ’s opening gross of $116 million. Awareness for the film is presently in the 90% range, higher than San Andreas , which opens next week. Interestingly enough, though Jurassic is one of the summer’s earlier releases, it could be one of the last films of the summer to gross more than $100 million in its first three days. Only Universal’s other big summer release, Minions , is expected is join that club. Though there are other big films in the pipeline, the Terminator and Mission: Impossible franchises have, historically, not performed to that level straight out of the gate, and Marvel’s Ant-Man isn’t expected to do traditional Marvel-sized business. Two More Characters Join 'Captain America: Civil War'

Learn below which two Marvel heroes will be joining the superhero beatdown! Story by Matt Cummings It's becoming clear that Marvel's kickoff to Phase 3 - Captain America: Civil War - doesn't only feature The Star-Spangled Man, but will be host to a growing number of characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Over the past few months, we've learned that Hawkeye , Black Widow , and Falcon will join Cap and Iron Man as they battle over the Superhuman Registration Act. Yesterday saw actor Martin Freeman sign on to play an unknown role . That list got a little bigger today, when it was announced that both Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Black Panther (Chadwick Bozeman) will also appear. The film will mark Bozeman's first as Black Panther, while Rudd's Ant-Man will enjoy a second appearance. The movie will apparently only follow a limited amount of the original comic plot, where an international incident forces both Cap and Iron Man to choose sides reg
