Images From Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer

Just when we think we might have a handle on what Spike Lee has in store for his next film, the director goes and throws another curveball. "Red Hook Summer" has pretty much been kept under wraps thus far, with few details about the film being revealed other than a vague logline about the story centering on a young man from Atlanta who goes to the titular neighborhood to hang with his grandfather, who he's never met, for the summer. But as the Sundance Film Festival draws near, a couple more pics, a full synopsis and an intriguing bit of trivia about who scored the movie has been revealed.

Clarke Peters (aka Lester Freamon from "The Wire") leads the cast of mostly unknowns in the film that is being described as a return to the roots of Spike Lee's early filmmaking days, but if you were to tell the director two decades ago that he'd enlist Bruce Hornsby to score one of his movies, he would have said you were crazy. But indeed, Lee seems to have taken a qu…

Another Top 10 Movie List For 2011

Yesterday I delivered RAMA's Top movies of the year and today Heat Vision released their top 10 movies of 2011.

Time and repeat viewings often change perceptions. But as of now, this sunny week in December, these are the movies I will take from this year.

1. Drive: By far the coolest movie of the year. The look, the mood, the mere 26 (or so) lines spoken by Ryan Gosling’s Hollywood stunt driver by day, getaway driver by night, add up to an electrifying film by Nicolas Winding Refn. You come away with the same kind of feeling you had after watching Reservoir Dogs for the first time.

2. 50/50: The cancer comedy the world didn’t know it needed. Will Reiser’s script based on his own experiences of living through cancer while in his mid-20s could have gone north of maudlin and south of funny, but in the hands of director Jonathan Levine it balances the right tone at all the right moments. It helps to have Reiser’s alter ego played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, one of the best actors of his …

Russian Trailer For The Avengers-"We Have A Hulk"

A few weeks ago, we brought you the first international trailer for The Avengers, in German, featuring a few precious new seconds of footage. Now the Russians are getting their turn at a trailer, and we get a few seconds more. Behold the Avengers trailer, now with more Loki!

How cool is it seeing a cocky trickster god squaring off against an ultra-cocky genius billionaire playboy philanthropist with a drink in his hand? If you didn't catch what they were saying, Loki threatened Stark with "I have an army," and Stark very coolly replied, "We have a Hulk."

On top of that, we got a few more glimpses of Hawkeye, Black Widow and Nick Fury, and a brief chance to see Loki whip someone across the face. And yeah, he was wearing a suit, so look for Loki in human clothes when you see the full flick.

Yes, we know it was just a few more seconds, but it's just more proof that May can't get here fast enough.

Anne Hathaway Spills The Beans About The Dark Knight

For anyone who's seen the recently released trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, the conclusion to director Christopher Nolan's Batman films, the stakes appear higher than in the franchise's previous efforts.

'Dark Knight Rises' Prologue Screening at 42 IMAX Theaters Before 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol'
Gotham City dissolves into a near-apocalyptic state, thanks to the work of new villain Bane (Tom Hardy), but what the trailer doesn't show is what role Anne Hathaway's Catwoman plays in the melee.

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer- You Better Run-

The Los Angeles Times will run a story in its Jan. 1 issue, including an interview with Hathaway, which details a scene in the film not yet screened for fans.

"Gotham City is a war zone," reports the paper. "A ruthless madman named Bane has ripped away any sense of security and the citizens, haggard and clutching suitcases with refugee anxiety, sit behind barbed wire waiting to see what will…

New UNDERWORLD AWAKENING Trailer

We have the newest trailer for UNDERWORLD AWAKENING. The trailer features more hard-hitting action from part-vampire warrioress Selene (Kate Beckinsale) along with the first good look at the “super lycans.”

Also from the looks of the new trailer, India Eisley’s (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) character, named Eve, will play a major part in the story.

The Screen Gems film, directed by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, is set for a Jan. 20 release. In it, everyone’s favorite warrioress, Selene, escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

Director Zhang Yimou (Raise the Red Lantern, Ju Dou, Hero, House of the Flying Daggers) tells an epic story of love and sacrifice in THE FLOWERS OF WAR, starring Christian Bale and introducing Ni Ni. EXTREMELY LOUD & INCREDIBLY CLOSE Movie Review By: RAMA

EXTREMELY LOUD & INCREDIBLY CLOSE Movie Review By: RAMA

So what did RAMA think of EXTREMELY LOUD & INCREDIBLY CLOSE? Make sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

9/11 is a touchy subject, no matter how well-made the films are, like United 93 and Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center, for example, there will always be a certain level of viewing discomfort and questions of whether or not it’s too soon for such depictions to exist. EXTREMELY LOUD & INCREDIBLY CLOSE is no different but I think screenwriter Eric Roth and Oscar nominated filmmaker Stephen Daldry, whose film The Hours I admired, manage to approach this adaptation in a respectful manner from the perspective of the young character Oskar as he struggles through the difficulties of letting go the memories of his dad who was in one of the towers when they collapsed on what he’d like to call ‘the worst day’…

Based on the acclaimed novel of the same name, “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” tells the story of one youn…

The Wachowskis' Cloud Atlas New Concept Art

We've been hearing about the epic scale and cast of The Wachowskis' historical sci-fi drama Cloud Atlas for more than a year now, and we're finally starting to see what the flick will look like. New concept art for the film has just hit the 'Net, giving us a peek at South Korea more than 100 years in the future.

Co-directed by the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer (who directed, among other things, Run Lola Run and Perfume), Cloud Atlas is an adaptation of David Mitchell's acclaimed novel that tells six stories ranging from the Pacific Ocean of the 1850s to the city of Seoul in the 2100s. The enormous and star-studded cast includes the likes of Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving and Susan Sarandon.

The only real image from the film that's been released so far is this one of Korean star Bae Doona. Donna stars in the futuristic sections of the flick as Sonmi-451, a "genetically-engineered fabricant (clone)."

The rest is just concept art, but it do…

New Images From RAMPART Starring An All-Star Line-Up- The Most Corrupt Cop On Screen

Here are some new images from RAMPART starring Woody Harrelson, Robin Wright, Sigourney Weaver, Ice Cube, Ben Foster, Ned Beatty, Steve Buscemi, Cynthia Nixon and Anne Heche.

Los Angeles, 1999. Officer Dave Brown (two-time Academy Award nominee Woody Harrelson) is a Vietnam vet and a Rampart Precinct cop, dedicated to doing "the people's dirty work" and asserting his own code of justice, often blurring the lines between right and wrong to maintain his action-hero state of mind. When he gets caught on tape beating a suspect, he finds himself in a personal and emotional downward spiral as the consequences of his past sins and his refusal to change his ways in light of a department-wide corruption scandal seal his fate. Brown internalizes his fear, anguish and paranoia as his world, complete with two ex-wives who are sisters, two daughters, an aging mentor dispensing bad advice, investigators galore, and a series of seemingly random women, starts making less and less sen…
