Global content leader Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) announced today that the studio will honor the communal experience of watching movies in movie theaters and support the people who make those places great with a special program that reminds everyone how much we love going to the cinema. The studio is presenting Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies , a program of four Fridays of free movies streaming live on YouTube. Nicole Scherzinger Cast In ABC's Dirty Dancing

Nicole Scherzinger has been tapped to take on the role played by Cynthia Rhodes, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The three-hour TV movie is being written and exec produced by Jessica Sharzer (American Horror Story, The L Word) and, like the 1987 Patrick Swayze/Jennifer Grey starrer, revolves around Baby ( Abigail Breslin ), an innocent young woman who vacations with her affluent parents at an early-1960s Catskill Mountains resort and gets swept off her feet by Johnny ( Colt Prattes ), a handsome, working-class dance instructor. Penny, for those who don't recall, is Johnny's dance partner and part of the entertainment staff at the resort. She and Johnny enlist Baby's help and teach her to dance. Debra Messing co-stars as Marjorie Houseman, Baby's mother. The movie is produced by Lionsgate TV and Allison Shearmur Productions (The Hunger Games), with Eleanor Bergstein — who penned the screenplay for the original movie — on board as an executive producer. Abigail Breslin To Play "Baby" In ABC Networks Dirty Dancing

ABC network has announced that it will present a new adaptation of the 1987 popular film " Dirty Dancing ," according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the role of Baby will be Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin , from the Fox TV series " Scream Queens ." According to the THR report, Breslin, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as the young girl in "Little Miss Sunshine," is the only actress to be cast in the production. Emmy nominee Jessica Sharzer ("American Horror Story") will write the script, Australian director Wayne Blair ("The Sapphires") will helm, Hamilton's Andy Blankenbuehler will choreograph and Grammy nominee Adam Anders and Peer Astrom ("Glee") will compose the music. The three-hour event from Lionsgate TV will be produced by Allison Shearmur Productions ("The Hunger Games") and Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the original movie. SANTA MONICA, CA (August 08, 2011) - LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, is set to produce DIRTY DANCING , based on the classic 1987 film of the same name, it was announced today by Joe Drake, President of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group. The original film’s choreographer Kenny Ortega (HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT), will direct. Debra Martin Chase (THE PRINCESS DIARIES, THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS) and Kenny Ortega are producing.
