BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Live-Action Hercules Film To Be Produced By The Russo Brothers

THR is reporting Joe and Anthony Russo are producing, but not directing, the remake via their AGBO banner. Disney is going to zero to hero once more, putting into development a live-action remake of its 1997 animated movie Hercules . The studio has hired Dave Callaham, the action scribe who launched The Expendables franchise and wrote Marvel’s upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings , to pen the script. Joe and Anthony Russo, the filmmakers behind the Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, are set to produce via their AGBO banner. The 1997 pic was a musical fantasy retelling of the Greek legend that featured plenty of the trademark comedic banter of that era’s Disney animated titles. Tate Donovan voiced the demigod looking to reclaim his heroic stature, while James Woods played Hades, the god plotting to overthrow Olympus. The animated film, which underwent considerable retooling over its many years in development, had 18 credited writers who worked on the stor

Looks Like Sylvester Stallone Is Expendable

Depending on how you feel about the movies, news that there is trouble for the future of The Expendables franchise is either blessed relief or a shut to the gut. Deadline reports that Sylvester Stallone has walked away from the in-development fourth film. The cause? Apparently he and producer/Nu Image/Millennium boss Avi Lerner are disagreeing on some key issues, including a director, elements of the script and even where to source the CG effects. While nothing is set in stone, Stallone is apparently worried about diminishing returns from the franchise and despite his close connection with it, he's decided to step away. Yet there is still hope for the future, as Lerner commented to Deadline. "We’ve got disagreements with Sly, but we’ve had them for over a year and a half," he says. "Right now, each one has an opinion. We agreed on 95% of things, but there are certain things in production we don’t agree on. I don’t think it’s over, but write whatever you want

Liam Hemsworth Cast In Expendables 2

The median age of the Expendables 2 cast is about to come down by a few digits, as Liam Hemsworth has agreed to sign on to the movie. Hemsworth – younger brother of Thor man Chris – already has one big ensemble film under his belt, as he’s just finished playing Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games . For the Expendables sequel, he’ll be a sharpshooter who, we assume, will help Sly and co on their mission. But since details are scarce at this early stage, it’s always possible he’s a villain… Stallone has recruited much of the first film’s cast plus some newcomers, with J ason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis all aboard. There’s still no official confirmation as to whether Nic Cage will sign on and with Hemsworth’s casting, you’ve got to figure Taylor Lautner will not now be involved. But there’s still time… Simon West is behind the camera for this one and he

Schwarzenegger & Willis Join The Expendables 2

After The Expendables turned in a surprisingly strong $275 million worldwide gross, many have wondered what they would do for an encore. How’s this? Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis have just closed deals to take “ substantial ” roles in The Expendables 2 , alongside Sylvester Stallone . This has been rumored as possible, and it basically answers the hopes of a lot of fans who weren’t satisfied when action icons Schwarzenegger and Willis turned in cameos in the original, and poked fun at the days when they were the world’s top action stars. Stallone directed the first one but stepped out and the job went to Simon West. Filming will begin in October, and Lionsgate will once again release the Millennium Films-produced actioner. Schwarzenegger is already working for Lionsgate in the Jee-Won Kim-directed action film Last Stand . Willis will squeeze in the role before going off to Russia to reprise his John McLane role in Die Hard 5 , which just landed John Moore as director at

Screenplay Is Written For Rambo: Last Stand

Eighteen months ago, in the run up to The Expendables , Sylvester Stallone   said that John Rambo's adventures were over. " It's pretty well done; I'm about 99% sure there won't be any more ," he said. "I'm very happy with the last Burmese episode, and another film might be misinterpreted as an unnecessary and mercenary gesture. I don't want that to happen." And yet, and yet... Conan the Barbarian writer Sean Hood has just submitted his screenplay for Rambo: Last Stand to Millennium. FEARnet slipped a casual mention into an interview with Hood about Conan (there's also a line about a potential film based on another Robert E Howard character: that'd be Kull , folks!), and the writer was happy to expand on that info a little, after a request from Empire for clarifiication. Firstly, this isn't just preemptive wishful thinking on the part of Millennium: Stallone was involved in getting the ball rolling. "I met with Mr Sta

Arnold Schwarzenegger Next Film Could Be "The Last Stand"

UPDATE, NOW WITH MORE HEAT : Sources tell Heat Vision that Schwarzenegger and Lionsgate are far along in the dealmaking process and a tentative late August start date is being eyed. Dealmaking could still fall apart over money, but if made, Lionsgate would get bragging rights to having the first post-office Arnie movie, a movie that would likely be a safe bet for all involved as it would it old school Arnie: him versus a bunch of bad guys. Arnold Schwarzenegge r might have found his big-screen return project. Sources say that the actor-turned-governor-turned-returning actor is circling The Last Stand , a Lionsgate action project being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Jee-Woon Kim , the director behind Korean film The Good, The Bad, The Weird , is helming the crime thriller, which is set in motion when a cartel leader breaks out of a courthouse and speeds to the Mexican border. The only thing standing in his way is a bordertown sheriff and his inexperienced staff. Andrew Knau

Sylvester Stallone Will Not Direct The Expendables 2

Fans of ' The Expendables " have been clamoring for a sequel since the final round of alter kocker gunfire went off last summer. Now it looks like they'll get their wish-- but without Sylvester Stallone behind the camera. The follow-up movie is a priority at producer Millennium Films, where it's being developed by Stallone, the creative force behind the original. But Stallone, who both starred in and directed the 2010 summer hit, isn't, at the moment, planning on helming the new movie. Instead, he's been meeting with directors to tackle the sequel, said a person who was briefed on the project but was not authorized to speak about it publicly. The script for the new movie has been written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman, the latter of whom counts the Clint Eastwood adventure "Space Cowboys" and family comedy "Curious George" among his credits, said the source. (Stallone co-wrote the script for the original with David Callaham.) A sp

Matthew Vaughn To Deliver "The Golden Age"

Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class writer/director/producer Matthew Vaughn tells me that a major Hollywood studio is very keen to fully fund his next big project: The Golden Age about a retirement home where superheroes end up. And the title is also a reference to early comic books of the 1930s when Superman and Batman first appeared. It's based on the yet-to-be-published comic book written by Brit TV chat show host Jonathan Ross, who’s a huge comics buff. Vaughn is currently in LA editing X-Men: First Class for Fox, but tells me he wants to get actors attached to the new project before the script is written. His wish list is Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, and Warren Beatty to play the retired superheroes who help out their grandchildren when their middle-aged parent screw up the world. Vaughn believes the success of The Expendables and Red shows that audiences are open to the idea of older action heroes. “You have these great star names and they’re mainly playing supportin

Willis,Couture,50 Cent & Phillippe To Star In Set Up

UFC fighter Randy Couture has signed on to co-star in Set Up , the heist action movie starring Bruce Willis and Ryan Phillippe . The movie, which counts Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Jenna Dewan Tatum among the cast, centers on small time crooks and revenge, and is shooting in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mike Gunther is directing from a script he co-wrote with Mike Behrman. Couture will play an enforcer who works for a local crime lord ( Willis ) tasked to oversee Jackson on an assignment. Couture was last seen in The Expendables for Lionsgate and will be reprising his role as Toll Road in The Expendables 2. Couture also co-starred in David Mamet’s Red Belt for Sony Classics and played a recurring character on CBS’ The Unit. Set Up is the first from a recently announced $200 million fund on which Jackson and Randall Emmett's Cheetah Vision banner is teaming with George Furla's Hedge Fund Film Partners. Cheetah has an output deal with Grindstone Entertainment/Lionsgate.

Sly Talks Expendables Sequel

Sly Talks Expendables Sequel It's not to late to start talking about making a sequel to a film even before it is released in theaters.  Sly and investors are hoping that the film will open huge (which I think it will) so that they can roll out a sequel to the movie. If this does perform, I think it will open a little more liquidity in funding the sequel. I have an idea ready to go. People think doing a sequel is easy, but it's not because you need the element of surprise. I'm going to try to do something that's quite radical. I am excited to see this movie that all males who grew up in the 80's always hoped for the Big three in one movie together. Then you add in Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Giselle Itie, Eric Roberts, David Zayas and Steve Austin. Sounds like a great combination. We'll find out at the box office if it worked and if we get a sequel. To read a great review head on over to TheArnoldFans . Here's th

The Expendables Fan Made "Ballsy" Trailer

The Expendables Fan Made "Ballsy" Trailer This fan made trailer is Ballsy ! The trailer is pretty much telling you to be a man and be Ballsy and forget about the chick flicks out there. And they have their target set on  Julia Robert's new film Eat Pray Love , which opens up the same day as The Expendables, August 13th. Watch the trailer after the Jump.. Editing some of the more exciting footage from " The Expendables " to Andrew W.K.'s " I Get Wet " actually gives the whole enterprise a perverse twist. Then again, if you're into what "The Expendables" has to offer, do you need to be sold any further? This isn't "Rambo," which only had Stallone's biceps to appeal to audiences who ended up selecting "Meet the Spartans" as their top film choice in that film's debut weekend. This is an entire generation of older action stars finally coming together, and is that not what everyone's been waiting

Stallone Says No More Rambo

Stallone Says No More Rambo Empire spoke to Stallone in this months Empire magazine, and they got some bad new for you Rambo fans out there. There was talk at one point that Rambo V was going to be a sci-fi film ( just sounds wrong.) “I think Rambo’s pretty well done. I don’t think there’ll be any more. I’m about 99% sure,” said Stallone, which comes as something of a surprise. After all, Rambo V was considered to be something of an inevitability after the last movie, the ultra-violent Rambo, made $113 million worldwide in 2008. But The Expendables has made Sly think long and hard about his future; and Rambo doesn’t feature in it. “I was going to do it,” he said. “I said I’d never talk about this, but with I feel that with Rocky Balboa, that character came complete circle. He went home. But for Rambo to go on another adventure might be, I think, misinterpreted as a mercenary gesture and not necessary. I don’t want that to happen. “I’m very happy with the last Burmese episode, beca
