Jon Favreau To Direct JERSEY BOY Film

Hugo producer Graham King has been pushing a film adaptation of jukebox musical Jersey Boys: The Story Of Frankie Vallie And The Four Seasons for a couple of years now. It would appear that the movie is creeping closer to seeing that green light flash as Jon Favreau has emerged the frontrunner to direct it. If he does take the gig, it would be a definite change of tone for Favreau, who has spent the last few years helping Marvel grow its cinematic universe via two Iron Man films and his executive producing job on other titles such as The Avengers. He also tackled – less successfully – Cowboys & Aliens. Most recently, he’s directed the pilot for Revolution, a new TV series from JJ Abrams and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke. Jersey Boys will follow Vallie and the other Four Seasons in their rise to pop superstardom. The show has toured the world after launching on Broadway in 2005. Back in January, King hired Hugo writer John Logan to write the latest draft of the script.

Tomb Raider Film To Be Complete Reboot

Tomb Raider producer Graham King has revealed that he took inspiration from Rise of the Planet of the Apes for the Lara Croft franchise reboot. King told Digital Spy that he has received a script from Iron Man screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. "We're going through [the script] creatively, bringing in directors to talk to and then I get that horrible job of sitting with 25-30 young girls that want to play Lara Croft," he said. Asked about his approach to the new Lara Croft movie, King said: "For me it's re-inventing the wheel a bit, it's a reboot. We're going back before she was Lara Croft, so it's a much more emotional character piece. She's in search of her parents. "One of my favorite movies of this year was Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the way they rebooted that franchise. I thought it was fantastic and took a lot away from that for Tomb Raider." Jolie, who next stars with Depp in the GK-financed Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck-directed thriller The Tourist (Columbia Pictures releases the film December 10), separately announced this week she’ll make her directing debut and produce with GK’s King and Tim Headington a Bosnian love story she has written. McQuarrie , who just scripted X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 , was one of the writers on The Tourist. Unforgiven is about a woman’s attempt to rejoin society after she serves a 15-year prison stretch for the murder of two policemen. The tragedy happened after the policemen came to evict her family from their farmhouse. Her hope is to live quietly and reunite with her troubled younger sister, but the paroled woman is targeted for a revenge campaign by t
