A follow-up to Jim Henson and Frank Oz's The Dark Crystal has been in the works for well over a decade now. A while back the news was that the project was tentatively titled The Power of the Dark Crystal, and that the plan was to blend old-skool puppetry and animatronics with animated CGI backgrounds. But while the focus on physical puppets remains paramount, the project itself has developed into Netflix prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance . We've already seen a trailer of sorts: now the streaming service has released a trio of new character images, along with a full cast list. Dark Crystal "Power Of The Dark Crystal" Ready To Begin The team that brought us Daybreakers , will be directing the upcoming sequel to Dark Crystal called " Power Of The Dark Crystal ," and of course it will be in 3D also.  The screen play was written by Australian scribe Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet) based on an original script by Annette Duffy and David Odell. The legendary fantasy artist Brian Froud is back as the conceptual designer of the film, which will use a mix of live action and traditional puppetry combined with visual and special effects produced entirely in Australia. They already started work on the film’s complex CGI elements. At least they stick to the elements to a certain extent… instead of going the Alvin & The Chipmunks route or the Rob Zemeckis’ method with all his Motion Capture addiction.
