When he is asked to coach the basketball team at his alma mater, which has fallen far since his glory days, he reluctantly accepts, surprising no one more than himself. The Accountant Sequel On It's Way

Of the films that managed to make a profit last year, we weren't expecting that Ben Affleck -starring crime thriller The Accountant would be one to spawn a sequel. Warner Bros. clearly thinks differently, and the studio is in the midst of re-assembling the actor plus director Gavin O'Connor and other filmmakers to put together a second outing. Writer Bill Dubuque and producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams are all working out deals now to return for a follow-up about Affleck's Christian Wolff, a forensic accountant with a very dark side. A high-functioning autistic, he's able figure out financial mysteries and works for criminal organisations to keep their shady moneymaking out of government clutches. But when a new client puts him in danger and firmly in the crosshairs of the Treasury Department, he shows off another, more violent side... The plot for the film also saw – spoiler alert for those who didn't watch it – Christian's brother Brax (J

Top 10 Movies of 2016

2016's top films feature a diversity of genres, but was the industry better off as a result? Story by Matt Cummings I think it's safe to say that 2016 was one of the worst years in recent memory: shootings, rising tensions abroad, and (another) highly-divisive election was book-ended by high-profile deaths that began their march in January (David Bowie), ripped through the Summer (Prince), and ended with an awful December (George Michael, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds). Similarly, we saw a movie industry plagued with more than a dozen high-profile failures and outright disappointments ( Independence Day: Resurgence, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Norm of the North, The Fifth Wave among many, many others). But, a few films did rise to the top, punctuated by stellar performances, incredible action sequences, smart comedy, and beautiful musical moments. As always, our list is generated on factors such as memorability, quality, and a completely selfish desire of whet

Movie Review: #TheAccountant

The Accountant is a wild, whipsmart slap in the face with a ledger. And we're OK with that. Review by Matt Cummings The fall movie season is already shaping up to be far better than this Summer's bomb-fest. Ben Affleck's The Accountant is another welcomed shot-in-the-arm, a wild but intelligent action film that features a great cast, some terrific comedy, and matches our need for amazing violence and solid storytelling. This action-thriller's premise is fairly unique: a high-function autistic child becomes the hugely successful accountant/soldier Christian Wolff (Affleck) who's worked with some of the top bad guys to clean up their books. This draws the attention of retiring Treasury agent Ray King (JK Simmons) and a fellow volun-told (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) who's forced to uncover Wolff's wild past. As he investigates a tech company's suspect books, Wolff soon realizes that his work endangers the life of Dana (Anna Kendrick), the empl
