#DonnieDarko Returns To Theaters To Celebrate The Official 15th Anniversary Release

Arrow Films has announced the March 31st domestic theatrical debut of the 4K restoration of Richard Kelly’s cult hit Donnie Darko . Following a wildly successful re-release in the UK for its fifteenth anniversary, the film will return to theaters in cities across the United States. Fifteen years before “Stranger Things” combined science-fiction, Spielberg-ian touches and 80s nostalgia to much acclaim, Kelly set the template and the benchmark with his debut feature, Donnie Darko. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as arguably the first cult classic of the new millennium. The 4K restoration of Donnie Darko will premiere at the Vista in Los Angeles on March 30th, and officially open in Los Angeles at the Cinefamily and in New York at Metrograph on March 31st. Described by director Richard Kelly as “The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick”, Donnie Darko combines an eye-catching, eclectic cast: pre-stardom Jake (Nightc

White House Down DVD Review. Missing Any Semblance Of Heart

White House Down DVD Review By: MattInRC The senseless action of White House Down arrives on home video, missing any semblance of heart. Hollywood is in the business of making entertainment that sometimes finds itself in bed with mirror images of itself. Think Tombstone and Wyatt Earp, both featuring the famous Texas lawman and released in 1993, or 1998's Deep Impact and Armaggedon, neither of which was worth the time. Apparently, Hollywood didn't think we had experienced enough White House invasion films in 2013 with the great Olympus Has Fallen , as another one in White House Down has now arrived onto home video The Movie - 3/5 Low-man on the Capitol Police totem pole John Cale ( Channing Tatum , GI Joe: Rise of Cobra) visits the White House to interview for a job as a Secret Service agent, only to be rebuffed by Agent Finnerty ( Maggie Gyllenhaal , The Dark Knight) for being too working class. Won't Back Down Has The Worst Box Office Opening

Even an Oscar-caliber leading cast couldn't save this one. Maggie Gyllenhaal's latest film " Won't Back Down ," also starring Viola Davis and Holly Hunter, set the record this past weekend for the worst opening of a film that appeared in more than 2,500 theaters, making a mere $2.6 million [via Box Office Mojo ]. Yes, all three of these former Oscar nominees -- Hunter having won a golden statuette in 1994 for " The Piano " -- now have a pretty bad blemish on their resume. But they aren't to blame, say industry watchers, who are reacting to the film with a resounding face palm. "' Won't Back Down ' wore the dunce cap last weekend, mostly because its marketing was almost non-existent," says Jeff Bock, box office analyst for Exhibitor Relations. Based on a true story about a single mother bent on improving her child's inner city school, " Won't Back Down " "beat" the Rainn Wilson comedy " Th

James Woods Goes To The White House

It would appear that, in the race to make the first White House in peril thriller of 2013, every time one of the films announces some casting news, the other has to follow suit. So with this weekend’s talk of Radha Mitchell signed to Olympus Has Fallen, now there’s word that James Woods is in early talks for White House Down . Roland Emmerich is in charge of this one, overseeing a story that finds Channing Tatum as a Secret Service agent tasked with saving the President when a paramilitary group takes over his residence. Assuming he makes a deal, Woods will be playing the head of the President’s guard detail, and Tatum’s boss. He’d be joining a cast that also includes Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx . Though Olympus appears to have the jump in terms of shooting, White House Down has a James Vanderbilt script and Emmerich’s history with the White House to spur interest. Emmerich will start cranking the cameras next month. Frankly, we figure they should save costs and use t

Crazy Heart Movie Review By:Windy SandwichJohnFilms Residential movie reviewer went out and saw Crazy Heart and came in with this review. Also stop by Windy's home page and let her know what a great job she is doing. And this ain’t no place for the weary kind And this ain’t no place to lose your mind And this ain’t no place to fall behind Pick up your crazy heart and give it one more try “Crazy Heart”, starring Jeff Bridges, opens with Bridges’ familiar tin singing a country tune. His voice is immediately recognizable and the melody of the song sets the tone for the film: lost, somber, perhaps even helpless. Bad Blake, as Bridges’ character is known in the film, is a stereotypical down-and-out country singer who’s had one too many whiskeys, way too many women, and far too many years without a hit. He isn’t pretty to look at – disheveled, pants unbuttoned, visibly drunk and at times stumbling. However, Bridges brings a unique honesty and humbleness to the role. He’s an actor w
