BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Danny McBride Joins Alien: Covenant

Many people complained about characters in Prometheus behaving stupidly, but it seems we ain't seen nothing yet. Danny McBride , star of Eastbound And Down and an integral part of the Rogen-Franco-Goldberg stoner comedy fraternity, is in early talks for a starring role in Alien: Covenant . If it happens he'll join the returning Michael Fassbender and new lead Katherine Waterston . But not Noomi Rapace . There are no details at all so far about the role McBride would play, but the situation has apparently come about through director Ridley Scott and McBride bonding over their mutual love of film. It's easy to make the obvious cracks about the hapless egocentric drug-addled sweary slacker pratfalling that McBride might bring to the Alien universe. But this could also be his opportunity to display a significant broadening of his range, in something like the way his fellow Rogenite Jonah Hill has done recently in Moneyball and The Wolf Of Wall Street. Whatever the cha

Neill Blomkamp's Alien Film On Hold

As reported recently, Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel, now titled Alien: Paradise Lost , has taken precedent over Neill Blomkamp 's intriguing Alien ideas, entering production first at the beginning of next year. While we were initially led to believe that Blomkamp's own Alien would likely follow a year later, that now, sadly, turns out not to be the case. Blomkamp has tweeted that his Alien project is currently in a "holding" pattern, possibly indefinitely, and that he's moving on to other things. If you somehow missed it, Blomkamp's Alien arrived in a flurry of activity at the beginning of this year, just as Chappie was hitting cinemas. Blomkamp released some just-for-fun Alien designs online, featuring both Sigourney Weaver's Ripley and Michael Biehn's Corporal Hicks. The internet went crazy, and Fox got excited and put the project in development. Conspicuously though, while there were some lovely pictures, there never seemed to actuall

Neill Blomkamp's Alien Fantasy Film Becomes a Reality

Alien gets a resurrection thanks to Instagram. By Brandon Wolfe District 9 director Neill Blomkamp created a stir recently when he posted to his Instagram page a series of Alien concept art images he had commissioned independently as an unsolicited “what if?” fantasy project. Blomkamp stated at the time that he did this for fun and that he did not expect any of it to ever come to fruition. Yet sometimes fantasies do come true, as both the director and 20th Century Fox have now confirmed that Blomkamp will indeed be bringing his Alien vision to life. Ridley Scott, the granddaddy of the Alien franchise, will produce the film through his production company, Scott Free. The project will coexist with the upcoming Prometheus sequel that Scott is still making for some reason. Though Sigourney Weaver has not yet signed onto the new film, she recently expressed enthusiasm for the idea and has just worked with Blomkamp on the upcoming Chappie . Given that the concept art show

Pepper Potts' Gets Her Own Iron Man 3 Poster

In the beginning, there was Aldrich Killian . Then there was James Rhodes as Iron Patriot . After that, we had The Mandarin. Today Empire got an exclusive poster, it's Pepper Potts' turn, with Gwyneth Paltrow cradling Iron Man's helmet in her hands in the latest Iron Man 3 poster. With a huge gash down the front of its face - and its eyes somehow still glowing - the detached metallic noggin is ominous in the extreme, reinforcing the general air of things-are-going-to-get-hairy pervading Iron Man 3's poster run so far. Perhaps this helmet is the same one seen beneath The Mandarin's boot in his poster? Or, knowing Tony, perhaps this is just one of many different suits that may or may not have something to do with Killian's Extremis virus. Please Leave A Comment-

Iron Man 3 Character Poster. Welcome Aldrich Killian

Behold the slick visage of super-scientist Aldrich Killian , as played by Guy Pearce in Iron Man 3 . This is not the kind of bespoke tailoring and peroxide highlights you'd find on, say, James Dyson. No, Pearce, fresh from catapulting the human race into hammerpede-y hell in Prometheus, is playing another svelte but ethically challenged boffin whose pioneering research could - could - be more likely to endanger us all than win him an OBE. Shane Black's Marvel movie sees Killian working alongside Rebecca Hall's fellow brainaic Maya Hansen to harness the power of nanotechnology. It's a plot thread inspired by Warren Ellis' immensely influentual Iron Man: Extremis arc. Those familiar with that six-issue run of the comic-book won't be shocked to discover this sentence featuring the words "dangerously powerful new tech", "falling into" and "the wrong hands". Judging by the trailers to date, Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark wil

New IRON MAN 3 Poster & Teaser Trailer

Teasers for trailers appear to be a marketing trend that is sticking around, at least until studios figure out how to shoot ads directly into our brains. But when the latest short tease offers a glimpse at new Iron Man 3 footage, we’re not going to complain too much. Check it out below. It’s all part of the campaign around the film’s Super Bowl TV spot, which will debut on Sunday during the game. The Super Bowl has been a big market for short film trailers for several years now, and the studios spend millions buying ad time. This year, we can expect to see spots for Star Trek Into Darkness, The Lone Ranger, The Fast And The Furious 6, Oz The Great And Powerful and Oblivion . Plus World War Z will apparently have something during the pre-game segment. At this pint, we’d like to have seen a zombie half time show… But back to Iron Man 3. In addition to the spot tease, Marvel has also put a new poster online, which shows that Tony Stark will really have a very, very bad day in the

New Iron Man 3 Image. Tony Is Beat Up

If there's one thing the world can take from Iron Man 3 's trailers and stills so far, it's that our man Tony Stark doesn't have the best time of it after the events of The Avengers . He may have got the girl now, but the top of Stark tower is in ruins and now his Californian pile has been totally Lethal Weapon 2-ed by Ben Kingsley's The Mandarin. Then there are the shots of everyone's favorite genius billionaire playboy philanthropist in a seriously duffed up suit. IRON MAN 3 Trailer Is Here- A guessing man would presume this is after Tony's been blasted into the water and before he takes off his armour and carries it on a sled through the snow. But that's what a guessing man would say. Non guessing men (or women, for that matter) will have to wait until further details come to light. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire

IRON MAN 3 Trailer Is Here. Are You Ready?

It's finally here. The first trailer for IRON MAN 3 . Marvel’s “ IRON MAN 3 ” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley ,“Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appear

Iron Man 3 Poster, Trailer & Images

Six Iron Man 3 stills have emerged online thanks to Facebook and USA Today , as well as a brand new Extremis-hinting teaser poster. Sit back in awe at the American-ised War Machine! Marvel (TM) at Tony Stark's awesome new ocular equipment! Hail a fresher, funkier version of the arc reactor! It's all here, and it's all in preparation for the new, full trailer, set to hit the web early tomorrow morning. Given his propensity for self-promotion, it was only a matter of time before Tony Stark cottoned on to the idea of teasers for trailers. So it is that Iron Man 3 has succumbed to this most modern of marketing ideas, launching a Facebook page and encouraging fan “likes” to unlock a new glimpse of the trailer. Take a gander above. See all the images after the Jump... It’s a very brief snippet of what we can expect on Tuesday, but certainly offers a few interesting nuggets, including Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts in no small amount of agony and a very qui

Iron Man 3 Comic-Con Panel Recap And New Suit Image

Move over, Game of Thrones – last night at Comic-Con, Hall H became the real House Stark as Marvel unveiled a stunning reel of footage from Iron Man 3 . Not bad going for a film that’s only just started production. But then, showing footage from an Iron Man movie has already become something of a tradition, and good luck charm, for Marvel at Comic-Con. And with interest in Ol’ Shellhead never higher following Six Characters In Search Of A Shawarma Restaurant (or The Avengers, if we must be pedantic), the roof was in danger of obliteration as Robert Downey Jr . took to the stage, swaggering his way through the crowd like a rock star, Iron Man glove on one hand, a la Michael Jackson, and cued the footage… which provoked as many questions as it answered. Spoilers exist within, so be warned: On a day that began with the fairly controversial debut of Stark’s gold-and-red Mk VII I armour on the Comic-Con floor, it seemed somewhat apt that the clip should also kick off with it. And so it

Iron Man 3 Concept Art Comic-Con Exclusive

After being told by Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige that Tony Stark would be be "cut off from the world and need to focus on his intellects to get himself out of his situation", it was a wonder just how Iron Man 3 writer/director Shane Black would go about it - but now this concept art offers some tantalising clues. Dubbed ' Caged ' by the artist, Ryan Meinerding, the piece shows Mr. Stark in a rather awkward situation: somehow he's ended up with only part of his suit on when he's surrounded by armed assailants. Has his suit been removed (in part) by others? Is this a new suit entirely, with the unusual alternate finger-colouring and all? Is this, in fact, the Extremis armour? Those who've read the Extremis arc of the comic books will be able to draw their own techno-organic and nanobot-based conclusions, but all in all, it's another intriguing glimpse into this new, somehow Avengers-less world of Mr. Stark. Iron Patriot Not In IRON MAN 3

UPDATE : A week or so ago we brought you the story  , based on some pap shots that seemed to suggest the star-spangled Iron Patriot armour (or possibly Detroit Steel) would be showing up in Iron Man 3 . Not quite the case, according to some more digging by Latino Review : it's apparently a snazzily updated version of Don Cheadle's War Machine armour . This is what happens when the US Government (and Hammer Industries?) gets hold of a Stark suit... If you'd rather avoid knowing any further details, you'd best bail out now. Still here? Right, Mandarin first. Jon Favreau (director of the first two films, and still playing Happy Hogan in the third) said ages ago that the not-so-politicaly-correct evil genius and Ten Rings honcho would be likely to make an appearance in the future. The word on the street here though, is that he's only a secondary villain in this instance, likely providing shadowy back-up for Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian. With Extremis the premi

X-Men Sequel To Follow DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Story Line

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel will start production early next year and now AICN has heard that there will be a heavy dose of Magneto this time around and that the studio recently registered the title DAYS OF FUTURE PAST with the MPAA Title Registration Bureau. No confirmation yet if that’s going to be the official title of this sequel, but if you’re a die hard X-Men fan, you’d recognize that it’s the title for a two-issue story arc of the X-Men comics published by Marvel in 1981 and the story dealt with alternative timelines.   DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Back Story: Days of Future Past” is a popular storyline in the Marvel Comics comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues #141 and #142, published in 1981. It deals with a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An older Kitty Pryde transfers her mind into the younger, present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria. The storyline

First Official Image From Iron Man 3

It may not be the juicy, what-can-it-mean rush triggered whenever those random paparazzi set pics from a big film in production hit the web, but it’s something… The first official picture from Iron Man 3 has arrived and you can check it out in the gallery below. We’re in familiar territory here, with Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark back in his workshop. Seemingly the security of his sanctum sanctorum has been breached and Tony is unaware that brand new Marvel nemesis Clapper Man is striking! Iron Patriot Confirmed For Iron Man 3. Who's Under The Mask?- In reality, it’s a chance to pore over the suits standing in their usual places to see if any clues can be found as to what we can expect from Shane Black’s first stab at the Iron Man universe. Returning veterans Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle are joined this time by Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale, William Sandler and Ashley Hamilton . Iron Man 3 will rocket onto our screens on May 3

Iron Patriot Confirmed For Iron Man 3. Who's Under The Mask?

"Marvel's The Avengers " is still tearing it up at the box office, raking in over $527 million to date, but that doesn't mean Tony Stark gets a break from saving the world. " Iron Man 3 " is currently filming in Wilmington, North Carolina. Photographers caught the first look at one of the new villains in the movie, the Iron Patriot, who is sporting armor that could give Stark a run for his money. First introduced in the comic " Dark Avengers #1 ," the Iron Patriot might have a suit of high-tech armor with a Captain America paint job, but the man inside is not a hero. So who is under the mask? That's actor James Badge Dale ("The Departed," TV's "24") as Eric Savin , one of the villains of " Iron Man 3 ." In the comics, Savin is a soldier who is gravely injured in a land mine explosion and reanimated as a cyborg called Coldblood-7 . It looks like the movie merges his character from the books with the Iron

Guy Pearce Joins Iron Man 3

Guy Pearce is all over our screens this weekend, starring as wisecracking bruiser Snow in Lockout , and all over this site, too as you can hear him chat about it on the latest Empire Podcast . So it only seems fitting that he’s now lining up a big, exciting new job, Pearce will appear in Iron Man 3 . Before we proceed with any further info, be warned that even knowing who Pearce will be playing could be considered a spoiler, so those who might cry foul should skip away. Right then… As has been previously talked about, the plot of Shane Black’s take on Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark will draw from Warren Ellis' Iron Man: Extremis six-issue run on the comics. It's not all that surprising, since Ellis’ work has been running through the cinematic incarnation of Stark since the first movie. The third film will see Stark dabbling with nanotechnology, which is created by geneticist Aldrich Killian. When it gets into the hands of terrorists (including, presumably, the recen
