The Family  Blu-ray Review By: MattInRC The Family is good mobster fun, so long as you don't take it too seriously. Mob movies are a favorite of American moviegoers. For some reason, we root for people which we normally despise as dark and dangerous folk, as greed or the law catches up with them. Comedic mob films somehow allow us to find a happier middle ground, putting a nicer dress on what is usually a dreary affair. The Family is just that sort of movie, a rip-roaringly hilarious film about a mob family under Witness Protection whose penchant for violence makes them more dangerous than the people who are hunting them. The Manzoni family have been on the run ever since second-generation Giovanni ( Robert De Niro ) snitched, enjoying life in Witness Protection by smashing and blowing up their way through Europe. Story follows an ex-Wall Street man, played by Grillo , whom the Secretary of the Treasury enlists to thwart a cyber attack that threatens to derail the American economy. When I first saw a preview of the show at Comic-Con 2009, I just knew this show was going to be big, but 20th Century Fox TV and film divisions have partnered to produce GLEE LIVE! 3D! , a feature film based on the upcoming Glee Live! In Concert! North American tour. Never thought this would happen. The studio plans to release the film for a two-week engagement starting Aug. 12. Gleeks who were unable to get tickets will be able to catch the concert in 3D. The tour starred 14 members of the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning TV show, and the film will also feature behind-the-scenes moments. The feature will be directed by Fame helmer Kevin Tancharoen. Given the rabid following that Ryan Murphy's show has, this seems like as good as a cash machine for the studio. It worked for Sony on the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It! Caruso ( Disturbia ) , produced by Michael Bay (You think Action throughout) and a cast that starred Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand, and Callan McAuliffe . But that was pretty much it. All the action was shown during the trailer. You would think by now we would figure that out, but sometimes you are hoping for more. You have to dream.
