BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Weekend Box Office Report: Amazing Spider-man 2 on Top, But...

Was The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ...amazing at the box office? Read on to find out! Does the timid opening spell a larger problem with Sony's rollout plan? Story by: Matt Cummings  The Amazing Spider-man 2 scored one of the best opening weekends of 2014, but it didn't come close to that of its predecessors.  According to our friends at BoxOfficeMojo, the film opened domestically to an estimated $92 million.  That's below Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million) but higher than overall winner  The LEGO Movie  ($69 million) and 2013's Thor: The Dark World ($85.7 million).   As usual, American movies are dong much better overseas, scoring $277 million in two extra weeks of release.  When adding those numbers, it has a good chance to beat ASM 's $490 million total. But, compared to previous releases in the series, this is a disappointing debut. Check out previous opening releases in both the Marc Webb and Sam Raimi era: ASM: $62 million Sp

Drew Goddard To Write & Direct Sinister Six Film

Drew Goddard also is writing the film, which will focus on the villains of the Spider-Man universe. The Cabin in the Woods helmer Drew Goddard is nearing a deal to direct Sinister Six , the Spider-Man spinoff that he's also writing. Goddard, who worked with Kurtzman, Orci and Jeff Pinkner on TV’s  Alias , was one of the saviors of  World War Z  after that movie ran into third act trouble. He wrote and made his directorial debut with the 2012 horror film  The Cabin in the Woods , and will write and executive produce Netflix's  Daredevil . In December, Sony hired Goddard to pen the script for the film, which will focus on the villains in Spider-Man's world. In an effort to expand the Spider-Man universe, Sony in December also hired Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci , and Ed Solomon to work on another spinoff, titled Venom , centered on the black-costumed villain that already made his big-screen debut in the third Spider-Man movie of the Sam Raimi trilogy. Kurtzman will d

New Trailer For The Amazing Spider–Man 2

Here is the second trailer for The Amazing Spider–Man 2 . We get our first look at the Green Goblin, The Rhino & Electro. The second film finds Peter embracing his superheroic side and finding the fun in Spidey, at least at first. There’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen ( Emma Stone ). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only he can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro ( Jamie Foxx ), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn ( Dane DeHaan ), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp. Please Leave A Comment-

New Images From The Amazing Spider–Man 2

Though it has stayed quiet recently as other big movies got their hype machines geared up, The Amazing Spider–Man 2 is ready to leap back into the game with a series of new images, a huge banner showing off some intriguing elements and a second trailer promised for Thursday. "I wanted to create something operatic, something huge,” Webb tells the paper’s site. “And if anything, this film is about the greatest battle Spider-Man's ever had to face. You'll understand and feel the intensity and the overwhelming nature of the obstacles in Spider-Man's path." The franchise’s Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield , also chimed in: "Our story deals a lot in choice. The power that you attain as a human being, it is your choice about what to do with it. And what's great about Spider-Man is he went from having no power, and the idea that absolute power corrupts absolutely, that is an incredibly rich idea to explore." Well, you know what they say about great pow

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Comic-Con Recap

There's been a big presence at this year's Comic-Con for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , but the press conference today with director Marc Webb, producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach and stars Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan was the first real word on what the film has to offer. "The universe that we conceived of began before we started shooting the first movie," said Webb of the over-arching story, "but the primary focus was executing this movie as best we could. This is operatic. There's a hugeness of scale to this movie. The ensemble is extraordinary, but it's cohesive and direct, and there's a simple unifying theme at the heart of the film that I think will be impactful. But it's fun teasing other characters, and if you pay attention to this movie you'll see what we're setting up what might come next." He also discussed the film's take on new bad guy Electro, played by Jamie Foxx. "There are a lot of incarnat

The Showdown. Electro VS Spider-Man

With Comic-Con now mere days away, the various movies set to make an appearance at the event are getting a start on pimping what audiences can expect. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is just one of the projects hitting the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue, with a proper first look at Jamie Foxx as Electro. Looking like a living plasma globe, Foxx certainly comes across as effective, even if the real test will be how the makeup works on film. Chances are we’ll get to judge that with some footage at the Con, and maybe even an early trailer hitting the web. Director Marc Webb, meanwhile, seems happy to have the birth pangs out of the way and relishes the chance to focus on the future. “People aren’t scared. With the first one I felt it was important to retell that origin story,” he says. “But that was kind of brutal because people were so familiar with it. Now that the origin story is done? We’re off to the races. It’s incredibly liberating.” We’re hoping that means a les

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 & 4 Are In The Works

We hope Andrew Garfield didn’t have too many movie roles planned for the next five years or so, because Sony wants to keep him in the Spidey suit for a while yet. Displaying the typical confidence of big studios in keeping their franchises swinging, the company has just announced that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will arrive on June 10, 2016 and the fourth on May 4, 2018. Yes, even though the second film – due to touch down here next year – isn’t finished and the reaction to the first wasn’t quite as positive as all involved likely hoped, nothing is stopping the superhero momentum. “ Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we’re thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years,” said Sony marketing boss Jeff Blake in a statement. It’s also a sign of the studio wanting to wrangle those dates before anyone else can lock them down. So while we don’t yet know who will appear in the new movies, or

First Image Of Jamie Foxx As Electro From THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Thanks to Superherohype , here are first pictures of Jamie Foxx lookin like a crazzy Smurf, literally, as the villain Electro on NY set of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN . Foxx   addressed his costumed appearance in the "Spider-Man" sequel. Though Electro is best remembered by comics fans for his tight green outfit with a jagged yellow mask, Foxx revealed that the "Amazing" sequel is ditching that classic look in exchange for something considerably more modern. "It won't be like that," Foxx said when asked about the character's costume from the comics. "Marc Webb and all of those guys, they're smart. They know that it has to make sense in 2013, so the suit is really slick. It's actually black. It's a new age." See all the images after the Jump... "I'm really excited about it," the actor added about his upcoming "Spider-Man" appearance. "My daughter is excited about it

Chris Cooper Joins The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The actor joins an all-star cast of villains that includes Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti . Chris Cooper has signed on to play Norman Osborn in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Columbia Pictures. The character of Osborn is pivotal in the franchise because he is the alter ego of the Green Goblin, which was played by Willem Dafoe in the original Spider-Man movies. It is unclear whether Cooper will make his villainous turn in this film or in a sequel. Osborn starts out as a mentor to the superhero before turning bad. The film stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as the webslinger and his love interest.11 The screenplay is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. The sequel is set for release May 2, 2014. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

Paul Giamatti Could Play "The Rhino" In The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Paul Giamatti is in talks to join The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as the villain known as The Rhino. The duo would bolster an already impressive cast. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are back as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx is portraying bad guy Electro, Shailene Woodley is Mary Jane Watson, and Dane DeHaan is Harry Osborne. The Rhino first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #41 in 1966 as a thug from a Soviet Bloc country who wore a superhuman suit that made him invulnerable while giving him superstrength and superspeed. It also had a deadly horn on top. In more recent comics, he became a sympathetic figure who found himself allying with Spider-Man. The role is a dream part for Giamatti, who in the past has said The Rhino was one of his favorite characters when he was a boy. “I thought Rhino was the greatest thing when I was a little kid,” he told ShowbizSpy in March 2011. “It was a guy who was basically in this rhinoceros outfit, and I always thought, ‘Why don’t the

Everything Wrong With The Dark Knight Rises

We just love the guys at CinemaSins with their awesomely cool (and hilarious) videos that show us everything wrong with some of the hit movies we've seen this past year, including The Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers . Unsurprisingly, they've now set their lofty sights on The Dark Knight Rises . So once again, in a video that's three and a half minutes long, you can now have a look at what they thought was wrong with director Christopher Nolan's final Batman opus and—once again—the guys point to some pretty important plot holes and glaring mistakes that riddled the hit summer film. So without further ado, just have a look at another completely hilarious video! Please Leave A Comment-  Source- Blastr

Jamie Foxx Talks Electro From Upcoming Spider-Man Sequel

Jamie Foxx is in full-on hero mode with " Django Unchained ," but it won't take long for the Oscar winner to tap into his inner villain. Foxx is slated to cross paths with Andrew Garfield's friendly neighborhood web-slinger in director Marc Webb's upcoming "Amazing Spider-Man" sequel. The "Django" actor stars in the superhero flick as Max Dillon, alias Electro , a criminal with the ability to manipulate electricity for his own nefarious needs. But to hear Foxx tell it, the movie version of Dillon isn't just an out and out bad guy; he's just a big thinker who never got recognized, until it was far too late. "You'll see that in his whole life, no one is talking to him. People have stolen his ideas at the big company. He's a nobody," Foxx told MTV News about Electro's back story in the "Spider-Man" sequel. "At a certain point, Spider-Man bumps into him and says, 'You're my guy. You'

Uncle Ben To Return In Amazing Spider-Man 2

At the risk of spoiling both 2002's Spider-Man and 2012's Amazing Spider-Man , Uncle Ben dies. Okay, so you knew that already, but it's an important point to remember now the news that the actor playing Mr. Ben ( Martin Sheen ) will return, somehow, for the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 . Speaking to RTÉ's The Late Late Show , the actor still best known by many as Jed Bartlet revealed that despite his character's unfortunate stumble off his mortal coil in the previous Spidey adventure, he's been called back for more wise words-dispensing by director Marc Webb: "Well, they called me back. I don't know what the part's going to be but I'm going to be Uncle Ben once again in Spider-Man next year. We shoot in February." Now though comic book plot lines aren't above bringing characters back from the dead, it's a pretty safe bet that's not going to happen this time around. Jamie Foxx Confirmed For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Alongside the news that Chronicle's Dane DeHaan has been cast as Harry Osborn is the official confirmation that Jamie Foxx , long mooted as a potential Electro, will indeed by playing the high voltage villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 . The director of the original Amazing Spider-Man , Marc Webb, is also back on board — perhaps no surprise considering its $751 million box office haul earlier this year — who essentially let slip that Foxx was on board in early November. Talking to ET, Foxx is reported as saying his character is "a genius electrician-type person and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world... The next thing you know, he turns it on."11 Marvel's official line on the character, however, goes a bit more like this: "Raised by his overprotective mother, after his father abandoned them, Max had ambitions of being an electrical engineer. However, after being convinced by his mother that he was not smart enough to pursue such a

Dane DeHaan Cast As Harry Osborn In The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Well, that didn't take too long: mere weeks after the search for someone to play Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hit the news radars, director Marc Webb has announced his choice of Dane DeHaan . Most readers will probably recognise the actor as Andrew, the troubled, telekinetic teen who causes so many problems in Chronicle . But he’s also been seen this year in the likes of Lawles s and, briefly, Lincoln . He’s a great choice for the role, especially given his work on Chronicle , and the intensity/humanity he brought to the role. Harry, of course, is the son of Norman Osborn and who becomes a friend to Peter Parker ( Andrew Garfield ). But we all know that things go decidedly sour down the road. Right now, the filmmakers are largely keeping quiet about what we can expect from the further adventures of Spidey, but with Garfield and Stone back as Peter and Gwen, and Shailene Woodley all but confirmed as Mary Jane, the plot will surely thicken. The job of chucking

Jamie Foxx As Electro In Spider-Man Sequel?

In the final, post-credit scene of The Amazing Spider-Man , Doctor Curt Connors comes face to face with a shadowy figure who may become the sequel's villain. But who could that villain be, and is Jamie Foxx the man to play him? Casting spoilers ahead! According to Variety , Jamie Foxx is deep in negotiations to play a super-villain in the next Spider flick, due out in May of 2014. Which villain will he be playing? All signs seem to point towards the super-charged Electro . Electro, as his name suggests, has the power to control electricity, a gift he obtained by being struck by lightning. In addition to Variety's sources, Jamie Foxx himself just so happened to tweet ,  "Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well," which is pretty darn telling. Some questions remain. Namely, what origin will this version of Electro have and is the shadowy figure we saw at the end of Amazing, in fact, Electro? There was an awful lot of lightning go

The Amazing Spider-Man Deleted Footage.

We already knew that a lot of stuff was left on the cutting-room floor when director Marc Webb put together the final cut of The Amazing Spider-Man . Now we have a good look at 17+ minutes of footage that got axed. So what's there? A pretty good bit of content, including a few alternate scenes that could've shifted the tone had they been included. Though these scenes do add some context and might've helped with the pacing, it doesn't look like we lost a ton with these being relegated to Blu-ray extras. The footage has leaked, and here's a scene breakdown via Comic Book Movie : Watch the footage after the Jump.. :01 - Alt. version of Uncle Ben's death.  4:00 - Dr. Connors comforts Peter.  5:50 - Peter follows Connor to his secret lab.  6:50 - Dr. Connors discusses the formula.  7:24 - Dr. Connor gives advice.  10:30 - The Lizard's entrance.  11:20 - Dr. Connors asks Peter for help.  12:10 - Big meet-up at the underground lab.  15:35

Marc Webb To Return For Spider-Man Sequel

The star and helmer will be back for a 2014 release. Ending months of speculation about whether he would return to the Spider-Man franchise he helped reboot, director Marc Webb has signed on to helm the webslinger's next outing for Columbia Pictures. The sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man will begin shooting in early 2013, with Andrew Garfield also returning as the superhero. Emma Stone is in talks to continue her role as Peter Parker's love interest Gwen Stacy. There has been little doubt that Garfield and Stone would be back for a second outing, but Webb's deal has been the major question mark. Webb was paid roughly $1 million for the first chapter in the Spider-Man reboot, according to sources, and was looking for a pay raise in the wake of the film's $750 million-plus worldwide box-office haul and fanboy response. The screenplay is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be produce

The Amazing Spider-Man Review

The Amazing Spider-Man Review By: MattInRC Does The Amazing Spider-Man usher in an exciting new chapter in the franchise or signal yet another reboot?  Warning: major plot spoilers ahead. I have joined millions of moviegoers in condemning the horrid Spider-Man 3 , a film that put the once-proud franchise into a coma with a single dance scene. But there were more issues to that film than just the sidestepping: the product felt tired and bereft of imagination, as if our hero needed a partner or a major shakeup. Throwing too many substandard enemies at one hero never solved anything, but that's exactly what we got. Something needed to change, but was a reboot really necessary? That was Sony's call; and so five years after Tobey Maguire and company were shown the door, the lights dim for The Amazing Spider-Man. Does Sony make it up to fans with a new high-flying adventure, or should we expect yet another reboot in about five years? Sadly, The Amazing Spider-Man is
