Deadline is reporting Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige won’t produce any further Spider-Man films because of an inability by Disney and Sony Pictures to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. A dispute that has taken place over the past few months at the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Feige, and the future involvement of Marvel from the Spider-Man universe, sources said. This comes at a moment when the last two films Kevin Feige produced broke all-time records — Disney’s Avengers: Endgame became the highest grossing film of all time, and Spider-Man: Far From Home this week surpassed the James Bond film Skyfall to become the all time highest grossing film for Sony Pictures. Sources said there are two more Spider-Man films in the works that are meant to have director Jon Watts and Tom Holland front and center. Now it's official via vulture , Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed to Empire that Ryan Coogler would helm the film featuring a "mostly black cast." "This one is important," Feige said. "Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore." Before Coogler's name was in the mix, Marvel was reportedly courting Selma's Ava DuVernay for the job of bringing Chadwick Boseman 's T'Challa to the screen, but she declined the offer because it "wasn't going to be an Ava DuVernay film." Coogler will be only the second Marvel director not to be a white guy, after Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi. Variety is reporting that Marisa Tomei is the choice to play Aunt May in the next installment of the “Spider-Man” franchise. Sony and Marvel had no comment on the casting. While insiders could not say where things stood in the deal-making process, they said an offer was made late last week for the Oscar-winning actress to join Tom Holland , who was recently tapped to play the webslinging superhero. Marvel and Sony recently hand-picked Holland to play Spider-Man after months of meetings and screen tests with eager young actors, in addition to selecting “Cop Car” helmer Jon Watts to direct the pic. Paul Rudd's Scott Lang is the thief who Pym takes under his wing to become the new, modern Ant-Man. You can also see (under a magnifiying glass) Corey Stoll's Darren Cross in his Yellowjacket suit, the villain of the piece. Cross is the former protege of Pym, and the man who has taken over his business and plans to use the Ant-Man tech for military purposes. By Brandon Wolfe The search for yet another Peter Parker is narrowing down for the Sony/Marvel reboot of Spider-Man and now the hunt for a new director has turned up a shortlist of candidates, according to Deadline . Reportedly, the pool that is being looked at includes Jonathan Levine ( 50/50 , Warm Bodies ), Ted Melfi ( St. Vincent ), Jason Moore ( Pitch Perfect ), John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (the upcoming Vacation ) and Jared Hess ( Napoleon Dynamite ). For those among us who groaned at Sony’s previous Spidey choice of Mark Webb, who only had the fizzily slight rom-com (500) Days of Summer under his belt before being handed the job, this list of similarly untested directors of lightweight comedies doesn’t inspire much in the way of enthusiasm. By Brandon Wolfe Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios have struck a deal to jointly collaborate on the future of the Spider-Man character and franchise. Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige will produce the next batch of films featuring the webhead with just-departed Sony studio head Amy Pascal. The tenets of the deal stipulate that Spider-Man’s next onscreen appearance will as part of a film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe , followed by starring in his own film for Sony Pictures, to be released on July 28, 2017. This deal allows Sony to retain the rights to the character while also giving Marvel both access to the character as well as influence in his usage and direction, probably the closest to an “everybody wins” solution as was possible. Marvel’s Agent Carter “Now is Not the End” / “Bridge and Tunnel” Review by Brandon Wolfe Out of all the characters that have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’m not sure that Agent Peggy Carter would have been my first choice for a television spin-off. That’s not a swipe at Hayley Atwell’s steely American agent (with a British accent), who was perfectly fine in Captain America: The First Avenger , but this wasn’t a character that seemed to necessitate further exploration on an expanded canvas. Add to that the fact that Carter was landlocked from the rest of the active Marvel Universe due to her existence in the 1940s, making the opportunities for movie crossovers virtually impossible, or at least less significant (even Cap himself is frozen in her timeline and therefore unavailable for cameos), and it didn’t seem like a show about Carter would prove a fruitful endeavor toward Marvel’s hyper-synergistic approach

Benedict Cumberbatch has entered the world of the mystic arts. The actor will star in Marvel’s “ Doctor Strange ,” scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016. Marvel Studios Announces Full Phase 3 Slate at Special Event This morning, during a special event at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed the films that will make up Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring a mix of fan-favorite characters and several heroes who will be making their big-screen debuts. The next two films to be released by Marvel are AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON on May 1, 2015, and ANT-MAN on July 17, 2015.
