All Superhero Movies to 2020

We have the final, final, final version of the list.

Story by Matt Cummings

With the sudden announcement of the Sony/Marvel Spider-man deal back in February, the entire Marvel calendar was upended, pushing titles back and others out of the way. We wrote about this back when the news broke, but it's clear that the situation hadn't exactly settled. The addition of 2016's Gambit hadn't yet been figured out, which caused yet another wave of bloggers to hit the UPDATE button on their old stories. But it doesn't end there.

Other news - such as the lackluster performance of The Amazing Spider-man 2 which forced Sony to seek out a co-partner in Marvel in the first place - also changed Sony's plans regarding Drew Goddard's Sinister Six, effectively ending its development for the time being. Not one to be left out, the all-new DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe) is also vying for our hearts (and wallets), and with news on that front happening nearly every week now, it's important that we recognize their upcoming slate.

Now that the facade has finally been upgraded, we'd like to offer the most up-to-date calendar. We were hesitant to include an updated version until we were crystal clear that it wouldn't change by the time we went to post. Also, we've added links to episodes we've covered in past articles, so make sure you read those as well.

2015:
May 1: Avengers: Age of Ultron
July 17: Ant-Man
August 7: Fantastic Four

2016:
February 12: Deadpool (Fox)
March 25: Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
May 6: Captain America: Civil War
May 27: X-Men: Apocalypse (Fox)
August 5: Suicide Squad
October 7: Gambit
November 4: Doctor Strange

2017:
March 3: Untitled Wolverine 3 sequel
May 5: Guardians of the Galaxy 2
June 2: Fantastic Four 2 (Fox)
June 23: Wonder Woman
July 28: Marvel Studios co-produced Spider-Man film (Sony, new addition)
November 3: Thor: Ragnarok (new date)
November 17: Justice League, Part 1

2018:
March 23: The Flash
May 4: Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1
July 6: Black Panther (new date)
July 13: Untitled Fox Mystery Marvel film
July 27: Aquaman
November 2: Captain Marvel (new date)

2019:
April 5: Shazam
May 3: Avengers: Infinity War, Part 2
June 14: Justice League, Part 2
July 12, 2019: Inhumans (new date)

2020:
April 3: Cyborg
June 19: Green Lantern

Now that we've totally confused your iCalendar, what do you think of the changes? Which of these have you interested, and which do you think will be bit hits?

Avengers: Age of Ultron Interview With Elizabeth Olsen

Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch:

Here is a brief history on the character he plays after the Jump...

A newly recruited Avenger who initially allies with Ultron and the twin sister of Quicksilver, who can harness magic and engage in hypnosis and telekinesis. Olsen said, "The reason she's so special is because she has such a vast amount of knowledge that she's unable to learn how to control it. No one taught her how to control it properly. So it gets the best of her. It's not that she's mentally insane, it's just that she's just overly stimulated. And she can connect to this world and parallel worlds at the same time, and parallel times." Describing her character's mind control powers, Olsen said, "I am able to go into someone's head and they'd never see. I can feel and see what they feel and see. So it's not just me manipulating them. What I love about her is that, in so many superhero films, emotions are kind of negated a bit, but for her everything that someone else could feel - like their weakest moments - she physically goes through that same experience with them, which is pretty cool." Olsen drew on her relationship with her older brother and her sisters to prepare for the role, as well as looking to the comics for inspiration. Olsen revealed that Whedon was inspired by dancers as a way to visually represent how the character moves.

James Wan Eyed for "Aquaman"

The Furious 7 director would join Jason Momoa for the DCCU.

Story by Matt Cummings

Director James Wan has scored big in recent years, moving effortless through The Conjuring and Insidious franchises with relative ease. His most recent production - Furious 7 - has already roared to an amazing $180m, vaulting him into the spotlight with his quick action edits and ability to navigate a nearly impossible shooting schedule. Now, he could be on his way to the deep ocean.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wan is being pursued by Warner Bros. to direct Aquaman, featuring the classic titular character. No official offer has been made, but the studio appears to have started preliminary talks. Actor Jason Momoa is already signed to star as the lead and will supposedly make an appearance in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Justice Leaguer will star in several of Warners' superhero films, including the BvS two-parter.

Competing scripts are being developed, courtesy of Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad. But the project faces a serious challenge: no one has been tapped to direct the followup to Furious 7, which has already crossed $500 million worldwide in less than one week. Universal holds the contract to extend Wan to the follow up if they wish, which they could exercise, putting Aquaman out of reach of Wan. In addition, he is prepping The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, which could make any chance Warner has to bring him on even more limited.

However, there's one much larger challenge: making a movie that celebrates the character while making it a financially viably venture. Despite Aquaman being an original Justice Leaguer, the character needs a serious makeover and suffers from a less than stellar reputation. Although that perception is changing, Wan or any other director for that matter will have their hands full in changing public perception.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters on March 25th, 2016 and Aquaman on July 27th, 2018.

#SofiaBoutella Tapped For Lead Role In Star Trek 3

After a sharp turn as the sexy blade-legged assassin in the Matthew Vaughn-directed hit Kingsman: The Secret Service, Sofia Boutella has been set for a lead role in Star Trek 3.

Which Justin Lin is directing from a script by cast member Simon Pegg and Doug Jung (creator of the TNT series Dark Blue).

Prying loose info on this project is difficult, so I’m not sure whether she’s on the side of good or bad, but I’m told she’s got a lead role in the Paramount/Skydance film produced by Bad Robot that’s based on the Gene Roddenberry series.

Paramount has dated the pic’s release for July 8, 2016.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Interview With Chris Evans

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America:

Here is a brief history on the character he plays after the Jump...

The co-leader of the Avengers and a World War II veteran, who was enhanced to the peak of human physicality by an experimental serum and frozen in suspended animation before waking up in the modern world. Describing his character's place in the film, Evans said, "He's still looking for a home, probably a metaphorical home. He's always felt comfortable as a soldier. And he likes structure. He works well taking orders. But when that dynamic turned on him, he's now left to depend upon his team, the Avengers. There really is no one above them telling them what to do. They're kind of having to operate independently. So there's a lot of leaning on one another, but there really isn't a kind of clear chain of command. And I think Cap looks for that. I think he's looking to understand where he belongs, not just as a soldier, as Captain America, but as Steve Rogers, as a person."Evans said that he was able to maintain the strength he built up for Captain America: The Winter Soldier by working out up to an hour a day. Evans said, "...you pull the plug about two to three weeks before you wrap. When you see the finish line coming, you are so glad to not have to think about the gym. But we are starting Avengers 2, so over the past month, I have been hitting it pretty hard." Regarding Captain America's fighting style, Evans said, "You just can’t be Jason Bourne. We gotta see this guy do stuff that’s like, yeah, he deserves a spot on this squad. In [Winter Soldier] he’s pinballing off of jets and doing unbelievable things. I don’t wanna take a step back, so we gotta make sure that he’s continuing training. His fight style needs to advance a little bit. I don’t wanna go full Bruce Lee, but there needs to be more than just haymakers and fun kicks. There needs to be a consistent display of strength. Utilize your environment in a way that’s like, 'That’s right, he can pick up a motorcycle with one hand...'"

Avengers: Age of Ultron Interview With Aaron Taylor Johnson

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Plays  Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver.

Here is a brief history on the character he plays after the Jump...

A newly recruited Avenger who initially allies with Ultron, and the twin brother of the Scarlet Witch, who can move at superhuman speed. About the character Taylor-Johnson said, "Him [sic] and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other... His sister really is his guidance - emotionally she's the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He's very overprotective physically - he doesn't want anyone touching her." Taylor-Johnson also said that Quicksilver has "real anger frustration" and is easily bored due to a short attention span. Feige stated exploring Quicksilver's relationship with his sister and his backstory growing up in Eastern Europe would help differentiate the character from Evan Peters' version in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).  Taylor-Johnson stated that the running style for Quicksilver went through multiple iterations, saying, "The running style we tested early on was just very one-dimensional and boring to look at, but if you try to do free running, like parkour, then that's very much Captain America's style... You have to find your own place in the stunt world."

Reese Witherspoon Will Produce #LUCKIESTGIRLALIVE Film Adaptation

LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE the feature adaptation project will be produced by Pacific Standard’s Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea (“Gone Girl,” “Wild”) and it’s based on Jessica Knoll’s eagerly-anticipated debut novel which will be released May 12 (Simon & Schuster).

Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF) has acquired the hotly sought-after rights to the upcoming novel LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE, it was announced today by Erik Feig, the Co-President of the Motion Picture Group. Pacific Standard’s Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea (“Gone Girl,” “Wild”) will produce the film, based on Jessica Knoll’s eagerly-anticipated debut novel which will be released May 12 (Simon & Schuster).

“Luckiest Girl Alive” centers on Ani FaNelli, a twenty-eight-year-old New Yorker who appears to have it all: a sought-after position at a women’s magazine, a wardrobe to kill for, and a dream wedding with her handsome fiancé on the horizon. But behind that veneer of perfection lies a vulnerability that Ani holds close and buries deep—a dark trauma from her past resurfaces only to give her a chance to confront her most shocking secret of all—but not without unraveling her meticulously crafted life.

The novel, set for release next month, is one of the summer’s most anticipated titles. Simon & Schuster’s Sarah Knight, who acquired and edited “Luckiest Girl Alive,” also acquired Gillian Flynn’s global best-seller “Gone Girl” and edited her best-seller “Dark Places” while at Random House.

“This is one of those rare books that come along every so often that you simply cannot put down,” said Feig. “We are thrilled to be working with Reese and Bruna on this project.”

“Luckiest Girl Alive is the kind of book that grabs you and doesn't let go. The hero of the book is a wily, intelligent, complex narrator,” said Reese Witherspoon. “This character and the thrilling narrative that she drives are exactly the kind of story our company, Pacific Standard Films, wants to produce. We are thrilled to be collaborating with Jessica and Lionsgate to bring her debut novel to the screen.”

Jeyun Choi Munford, VP of Production, and Creative Exec Nirokhi Raychaudhuri will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

Author Jessica Knoll has been a senior editor at Cosmopolitan, and the articles editor at SELF. She grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and graduated from The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. She lives in New York City with her husband. This is her first novel.

The deal was negotiated by CAA on behalf of Knoll, the novel and the producers.

Exclusive Sneak Peek Of @DisneyPictures #TOMORROWLAND Movie And Special Exhibit @DisneyParks

WALT DISNEY STUDIOS AND DISNEY PARKS TEAM UP TO SHOWCASE EXCLUSIVE SNEAK PEEK OF DISNEY’S “TOMORROWLAND” MOVIE AND SPECIAL EXHIBIT FOR PARK GUESTS AT DISNEYLAND RESORT AND WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT.

12-Minute Sneak Peek Includes Exciting, Never-Seen-Before Footage

Exhibit Features the Making of “Tomorrowland” with Props, Concept Artwork, Photos from Filming, and Images from the Disney Archives

Walt Disney Studios announced today an unprecedented collaboration between the Studio, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort to offer park guests a 12-minute sneak peek of Disney’s upcoming thrilling, mystery-adventure film, “Tomorrowland,” opening in U.S. theaters on May 22. Guests will also enjoy an impressive exhibit that features the making of the movie with props, concept artwork and photos from the filming of the movie plus exclusive images from the Disney Archives. The sneak peek and exhibit will open April 17 in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park and on April 18 in Future World at Epcot and will be available to the public for a limited time.

The must-see event marks the first time that a sneak peek has been offered at Epcot in Walt Disney World and the first time Walt Disney Studios has teamed up with both parks to showcase an upcoming Disney film with footage and an in-depth look at the making of the film. Sure to spark the imagination and curiosity of all, the special exhibit details the process of bringing director Brad Bird’s vision to life and will show how filmmakers created the world of Tomorrowland, along with archival images of iconic Disneyland attractions featured in the movie.

In the movie, the premise that the futuristic city of Tomorrowland could actually exist pays homage to Walt Disney’s vision for both Tomorrowland at Disneyland Resort and Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort where ever-evolving technologies are showcased along with ideas to make the world a better place for all.

Commenting on the exclusive “Tomorrowland” sneak peek event, Brad Bird, the film’s two-time Oscar® winning director, says, “We are excited that park guests will be the first to get an extended look at ‘Tomorrowland’ in the part of Disneyland that inspired the film. Tomorrowland is the one section of the park that Walt Disney himself designed to be tied inexorably to constant change. After all, the future is always in motion, continually shifting as humankind’s choices of the present remake the world ahead of us. ‘Tomorrowland’ is a state of mind. My hope is that the exhibit will convey some of the magic that went into bringing this land… and this movie, to life.”

“Tomorrowland,” a riveting mystery adventure starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney, tells the story of former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, who are bound by a shared destiny and embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.

Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.

The film also stars Hugh Laurie as brilliant scientist David Nix, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson

“Tomorrowland” is produced by Damon Lindelof, Brad Bird and Jeffrey Chernov and directed by Brad Bird, with John Walker, Bernard Bellew, Jeff Jensen and Brigham Taylor serving as executive producers.

TV Recap: SALEM S02E01: CRY HAVOC

TV Recap: SALEM S02E01: CRY HAVOC

Salem had a heck of a first season proving that witches could be downright terrifying on television. It left off last season with Mary completing the Grand Rite. Mercy went off the deep end to protect the innocents, proclaiming herself the Queen of the Night. John learned the truth about Mary, and loved her anyways. He wanted to run off with her, but she left him hanging. Issac foolishly fell prey to the Grand Rite. Cotton killed his own father to save Mary. And Mary was reunited with the child she thought was lost.

Season two pricks up with a child sneaking about on the docks. He goes to steal a chicken, and the night watchman gives chase. The man chases the child all the way to Knocker's Hole. He hesitates entering, but hearing banging, he heads inside. He comes to the courtyard, and hears the clucking just on the otherside of a pair of doors leading down. A little girl warns him from entering, Death lies inside. He doesn't heed her warning, but he should have. There is blood on the floors, and walls, banging. The chicken flies at him, but still he doesn't turn back. He finds the boy, and he looks terrified. The man goes to see the source of the banding, and finds what could be what's left of Ann. Her family fallen and dead due to plague. She goes after him, asking for help. He screams in horror, trying to push her rotting face away.

Mary sings to her son, but he's never had a lullaby. The witches never sang them, and Mary promises to sing to him every night. She asks where he's been held all this time, but before he can answer Tituba comes to take the boy home. Mary doesn't want to let go of her precious boy, she's tired of the arrangement and it's only been three days. When Mary doesn't let him go, Tituba does something to him, his eyes turn milky, and the child unresponsive. Mary begs her to make it stop, and she tells Mary it will when she lets him go. Mary refuses to be toyed with like this, she has proven her loyalty, and done what no other witch has been able to do. She deserves better than the way they're treating her. The witch pox continues to decimate their enemies, and those with witch blood remain untouched. She will open the gates on time. Tituba tells her that no one lacks faith in her abilities, but what she must do next she cannot do alone, she needs support. Mercy, her own creation remains unstable. Anne Hale remains a large threat. She is a cradle witch of the highest and oldest order. Tituba takes the boy as she reminds Mary that time is not on their side. Mary thinks in a month everyone will either be dead or on their side. Tituba knows that she still thinks of John Alden, hopefully with a bath and hair cut, and that is precisely the reason that they don't trust her. Mary remembers well what Ruth told her, only a broken heart can fuel true malice. Watching her son leave every night fuels her malice well, and Mary isn't going to forget Tituba's betrayal any time soon.

Mary goes to John's house, smells his clothes. She goes to Petrus, she knows that he can track the indians. She wants him to find John Alden. He smells the shirt, and remembers him well, he was there once. That she knows, but she needs to know where he is now, there have been scattered reports but nothing conclusive. He asks for Mary's hands, placing his eyes in them so she can see. She sees John's death, his burial by the Indians. She leaves in a hurry.

In and Indian camp, a woman, on from Mary's vision, burns sage. Her father commends her dream catcher for blocking the witch vision. They showed her what John wanted her to see. Her father tells her to come. John Alden is alive and well. The chief tells him the good news. John is glad to hear it, by the time he sees him coming he plans to have killed every witch in Salem. Hopefully somewhere in that plan is a bath.

Crazy Mercy states at a pretty bird as Mary comes upon her. Mary wonders if she remembers to sleep on a pillow rather than on corpses. Mary asks if she remembers what it feels like to be in clean clothes, even her father did not dress her so. Mercy admits that her father didn't care about her dressing, only her undressing. Everyone is mad at someone, but Mary tells her that she has to let the pain go. Mercy isn't ready for that, even as Mary tells her that Salem will soon be theirs. Mercy wishes good old fashioned revenge. Mary wants her to fall into line, to pay her proper respects for both their sakes. Mercy points out that it was she that beheaded the Samhain witch, but she's not greedy, she's content to rule along side Mary as her equal. That will never happen, she's too reckless. Mary tells her to submit to her elders, and there's no telling what she can become, she promises. Mercy asks if its the same as she promised John Alden, and that really gets Mary. Mary threatens her that if she defies her only horror will come her way, and that is a promise and a curse. Mary leaves Mercy, walking past her many followers. Those girls have seen better days.

In Boston, Cotton faces an inquiry about the events of Salem, including the death of his father, and how his closest associate John Alden seems to be to blame. Poor Cotton, he knows he has much to answer for, but he does not think that John is to blame. Cotton tells of the night that his father landed in Salem. He thought it better that a thousand should die to ensure that not a single witch walk free. Cotton thinks that his father's thinking was wrong. The witches completed their Grand Rite because of him, and made Salem ground zero, it is a battleground now. The man tells him that Cotton will do as his father wanted, and will be confined to Boston and forbidden from returning to Salem.

Cotton is up to his old tricks, spouting bible passages as he screws a whore, but its not the same. He remembers Gloriana, and her being sent away. He can't follow through, and he sends the girl away with her full payment. He drinks heavily, knowing the truth. It wasn't John who ran him through, but Cotton himself. He wonders if he should tell the council how insane his father became, how close to murder he was, and what Cotton did to save his father's soul. He damn's his father's icy stare that haunts him from the grave, and a painting. He takes out his anger on the painting, slashing it and ripping it from the wall.

Late night. A drunken man mistakens one of Mercy's girls for a whore. He asks how much, and she smiles. She tells him she wants him, and he foolishly follows her. He starts to protest as she leads him into the woods, but a kiss quiets and distracts him. The other girls surround him, and she tells him that its just her sisters. So intent on the girl in black, he doesn't realize the danger until its too late, and the girls have him tied to the tree. He panics when he sees Mercy. He even threatens to tell people that she's there, but she laughs, no one would believe him. They would believe that he took a girl to the woods to steal her maidenhead, but not that some crazy stole his manhood. Mercy drops to her knees before him, and slices his penis off, placing a crow there instead. She tells him that one day she will call him and he will come and do as he's told. The girls release him, and he heads back to Salem.

More are stricken down by the pox, their bodies taken away.

Anne Hale pours herself a hot bath, getting in. She grabs a straight razor and slits her wrist. Her blood fill the tub, and she brings herself under the water. Her blood goes back into her body, and she rises from the tub with a gasp. Mary is there. She tells her that her blood is her life force, and deep down she knows she wants to live. Mary knows that Anne killed her parents, and its time to face what she really is. Anne refuses to admit what she is. Mary admits that she came into her powers in the wake of great loss, of how she felt it come into her body and she could do things with word and gesture. Mary knows the fear, and the joy of that power. Mary pushes her, asking if she remembers the doll she gave her the one that only killed her. Anne remembers with hatred in her heart, and the razor flies towards Mary, scaring Anne. Mary can help her gain control of her powers and together they can build a new world. Anne doesn't see how they can build a nation on the bones of innocents. All nations are built on bone and blood. Mary just wants freedom. They may have different methods, but its what Anne wants too. Anne doesn't think that they can be on the same side, she sold her soul to the devil. Mary tells her that the devil they see is not the devil she knows. Mary warns that as a single woman with no parents to guard her, she is vulnerable. She offers her the protection she can from Mr. Sibley, and tells her that she should find a man of her own for name and standing. Anne doesn't understand why she would help. They have both experienced loss, and ultimately they are family. Anne wonders what they will say about her parents. Mary tells her to just get cleaned up and show up at the meeting house.

Mary makes one of her pretty speeches in the meeting house, she tells the people that the pox are spreading to good people. It has even taken Magistrate Hale and his family. She thinks that they should take some strict measures to insure their survival. Mr. Hawthorne thinks that they have fallen out of God's favor, and that they must find a way back into his good graces. He thinks that it is because the world has been turned upside down, with a woman on top. They have turned their backs on the way things are suppose to be, lead by men of property, men of substance, men of godly good will, above all by men. Mary tries to speak, but Hawthorne stops her. Until George can speak for himself as a man, they will assume it is her that is leading the Selectmen of Salem. He submits that it is high time that the Selectmen of Salem elect a new leader or admit that they chose to be lead by her in the name of her incapacitated husband. The crowd is in an uproar. A man breaks the tension. If they think that the pox cares that they're lead by a woman or man, than they will all die. The pox doesn't care about sex. It may take the weakest first, and he just came from Knocker's Hole hoping to give the poor a voice, but finds them all squabbling over politics. He plans to return to see what he can do for those people. Mary finds his words well said. Whether they pray at meetings or not, the least among them are their responsibility too. Mary leaves to accompany him, proving that a woman does not fear to walk among the people, and asks Hawthorne if he will join.

The man tells Mary that whether a town survives the plague depends on how they handle it. Mary asks who he is that he knows so much about pox. He's a doctor who survived the plague as a child, and thinks that he can save the town not by fasting, or purging powerful women, but by science. He tells one of his men to mark the door of a sick man. Mary tells him that his arrival is fortuitous to Salem. He kisses her hand. She finds the gesture old world. He sometimes thinks that they're less evolved. They once flourished under the rule of a Queen, and yet men like Hawthorne seem to have forgotten that. He thinks Mary is like the Queen Elizabeth of Salem. She wonders if he is as good a doctor as he is a flatterer. He thinks he is. He will start by finding the origin of the Pox.

The Chief thinks that John's plan is too dangerous, he cannot allow it. His daughter paints symbols on John's chest. He is not afraid to die. The Chief tells him that the ceremony will change him, and it is time that they leave. Everything is connected, and the witches seek to awaken something, and it will destroy them. They're going to turn the place into Hell. John tells him that he will cleanse Salem of the witches, and asks for his protection. The Chief walks away.

Mary surprises the doctor as he pours over a map, looking like he's intent on finding treasure. If he finds what he's looking for it may be a great treasure indeed. He's mapped out every known case, and signs point to the North woods. Mary is concerned over the deep woods, warning that even locals fear to tread there. Fierce landscapes do not scare him, and Mary doesn't try to stop him.

The Elders are not happy that Mercy has summoned them. They do the summoning. She wants to show them what she has done. She has claimed six men to do her bidding. Six men are nothing to them, they want the world. Mercy thinks that it is she that should be running the hive, not Mary. The Elders remind her that Mary does not control them, but they her. They have no need of Mercy. They tell her to go back to her grove of corpses. Mercy tries to appeal to them, and they spit in her face. That was too far. Mercy brings in her girls.

The Doctor, Samuel, goes searching into the woods. He eventually stumbles upon the Malleum. As he looks over the slimy thing he heads a mumbling moan, it's Issac, and he's seen better days. He wonders if he's in heaven or hell. He's in neither Samuel tells him, but Salem.

The rain pours down and Cotton's studies are disturbed. His inquisitor has more questions that he thought would be best for private. He asks when Cotton last saw his father. He saw him the day he left. His father and his men thought that they would find John Alden, and his flock in Boston had suffered without a shepherd for too long. So he sent his son back until he returned, but he would never return. The inquisitor wonders what that says about his father's confidence in him. He sent him away right before the witch was apprehended. Cotton thinks that point could be argued, and they did in the past. The Inquisitor tells him that he would have never argued with his father, even raising his voice would have felt like striking him. Cotton assures him that if it came to that, it would have been his father dealing out the blows not him. He asks if his father ever struck him. Cotton thinks no more than necessary than his proper upbringing required. The Inquisitor reminds him that he's confined to Boston, should they need to question him further before leaving and heading to a ship.

On the ship, a woman baths in the tub. He tells her that Cotton Mather knows nothing. She wants to know if Increase is truly dead. He is. That is something to celebrate, she has burns on her shoulder and back in the shape of his hand. If his grip weren't so fierce she would not bear his mark. He tells her that Mather knows enough that a Grand Rite was completed, but not who did it or even who killed his father, though he seems certain that it was not John Alden. She wants to know who did the Grand Rite though. For that, he thinks that they need to go to Salem. She apologizes that he will not be accompanying her and her son to Salem. His work for her is done. She stands nude before him, and tells him that he can stop averting his gaze, and stare directly at her. He does, and as the tub begins to drain, it pours out of his mouth. He drowns on the floor before its finished.

Mary heads to Samuel. Given her concern for the city, he wanted her to be the first to know. He pulls back the curtain on Isaac, who Samuel thinks could be the savior of the city. Isaac is covered in pox. Samuel thinks that he was at the epicenter of the outbreak, and that if he survives his blood may be able to help others. If he recovers he may even be able to tell them how he became ill. Mary is fearful of that, but still says that she hopes he survives.

John is awoken. The Spirit Guides have spoken. He will be well armed with weapons from this world and beyond, but he has to know two things. First, he will never be the same once he's been marked, and two he will never walk out of Salem alive. John was born there, and sees no reason for him not to die there. They begin the ceremony. John drinks from the cup, and it begins. He's tattooed, and his hair cut. His neck is cut, and some sort of bug is inserted. The chief's daughter is brought before him. She licks the blood from his face, and in her hand is an eye. She places it her palm eye on his forehead. The ceremonial dancing continues.

Mary sits with her son who listens to a jewelry box. It was her mother's but she never knew her. She shows him a comb, it was her mother's too, made from a bone. She doesn't know much about her mother or father, both lost her her at a young age. The boy asks about his father. She tells him that he was the very best of men, and she loved him more than anything, but he is dead, and she reserves all of her love for her son now. Her son has no name, the witches won't let him until he is baptized, but if he could have a name he would like to be John too. Mary tells him that he shall be then. Mercy''s girls kill the Elders. John feels their deaths. Mary has no clue what is happening to her son, and Tituba rushes in in a panic. Mercy Lewis killed their witches, the true elders. Outside in the courtyard a fire burns. Hanging about the fire are the two dead witches, and burning outside Mary's window is the word Liar. Oh Mercy, what have you done now?

TV Recap: #VIKINGS S03E08: TO THE GATES

TV Recap: VIKINGS S03E08: TO THE GATES!

The people of Paris are scared, and they should be. Ragnar likes to get his way, and the Gods like to give it to him.

Floki does what he does best. He overlooks his creations, prepared to do what he needs to do. Ragnar watches too, as his people prepare for battle. He holds with him Athelstan's cross. The ships are mounted, supplies placed. Rollo's berserkers jacked. Bjorn leads his group, and everyone is off to take Paris by land and sea. Kalf and Lagertha prepare over land. The people of Paris rush into their fortress, but the gates are closed before they all make it inside.

In the gates the soldiers are prepared to do whatever needs to be done to stop them. They're ordered not to waste any bolts. They fire some warning shots at the group, and Lagertha brings the people to a halt.

The ships drawn closer.

Inside the keep, the soldiers prepare for war. Princess Gisla rushes to see the Viking horde approach by water.

Lagertha's people prepare their attack, bringing in c cover, and battering ram. Archers prepare, and the shield wall is raised as they wait for her signal.

Floki looks around, they're in place. He blows his horn.

Inside they know that the Vikings have arrived.

Lagertha moves her people forward. A few are taken down by arrows, many inside are also lost, but the battering ram moves forward.

Floki laughs gleefully as they draw nearer.

The gate is braced against the vikings battering.

The war ships have arrived. The archers take aim, but they take down few as they approach. The berserkers are ready, and headed in with Rollo in command. Ragnar, Bjorn and Floki head into battle. Where some fall, others pick up their shields and continue on.

The rams make no more progress, and Kalf calls a halt. He calls in the tools, and the larger spears come out.

It havoc as the archers pick off the men climbing the ladders. Floki tells them that the Gods are on their side, and yet, more and more fall.

Inside the walls, the Emperor sits on his throne in fear. Princess Gisla is shown a sacred banner, so sacred him and all his order would die for. She smiles, it will be the same for all of Paris. She brings it forward to priest in the catherdral, telling him to bless it to save all of Paris.

The walls are being breached, and the front gates pierced. The Captain of the guard rushes to see the walls, as the Vikings spill over. The French are no match for the ferocity of the Viking Horde. Princess Gisla rallies the men to battle, bringing her sacred banner, and having it raised. She tells them to be relentless to fight to the death. She's lit a fire in them, and the Vikings are beaten back.

The Spears pierce through the front gates, and the horses are brought in. They do their best to protect the horses, as many fall to arrows. The ropes are brought out next, and many more fall to get them delivered, but they are delivered. Between man power and horse power they work to bring down the gates.

Bjorn, Rollo, and Floki continue to send men up to their deaths, and there are many deaths. The dead are piling up. Floki begins to see the err of his plan. One scaffolding is covered in oil, and set on fire. Many die burning to death. Floki hides in an adjacent scaffolding cowering in fear, and Ragnar is not pleased at all to see his cowardice and failure.

Lagertha and Kalf's men finally pull the door open, and as they prepare to slaughter the French inside, they find nothing more than an empty corridor. That's never a good sign. The men are all amped up though and they surge ahead, passing up their leaders. They get to the end of the hall, and Kalf tries to stop Lagertha. When she won't stop, he knocks her out, and drags her out, right before the arrows start flying. Many of the other soldier's aren't so lucky, dying in the trap.

Ragnar watches his people burn. He sees his brother still coaxing people up the scaffolding to their death. Rollo sees Princess Gisla, like a beacon and he heads up himself. Bjorn sends more up, before going up himself. Ragnar sees his son, and rushes towards him. One fellow Viking gets shot on the way up, grabbing hold of Bjorn. Bjorn's grip begins to slip, and Bjorn rids himself of the baggage before continuing his ascent. Ragnar starts his own.

From his hiding spot Floki sees who's responsible for this failure, not him, but Athelstan. Even in death, he blames the priest. A wolf stands by the western door, they will all die, and he thinks that it is his fault that they will all die. Rollo makes it up the scaffolding, slashing everything in sight. Bjorn and Ragnar make it to the top as well, clearing out enemies in their path. Princess Gisla gets a good look at the beast Rollo. They make eye contact, right before his ladder is pushed. He bashes the heads of many, but they still manage to push the ladder back, and Rollo into the water. He goes under.

Ragnar fights his way towards Princess Gisla, when he gets a glimpse of the beauty of Paris on the other side of the wall. The French manage to push Ragnar over the edge. He bounces along the scaffolding and lands on the bodies of the dead. Ragnar is bloodied and beaten up, but he gets back up. He sees his son among the bodies, Bjorn has two bolts in his back, but he's not dead yet.

Floki sits in the burning scaffolding, having a little crisis. He has done everything he can to please the gods, he has made so many sacrifices and yet it is not enough. Floki raises his knife to his throat. The platform above gives way, and a man on fire falls through.

The Emperor comes to look on the fallen vikings in the gate trap, no longer cowering behind his metal mask. He no longer thinks that they're so frightening, they look almost human.

Mass is conducted for the people, and they applaud their Emperor's arrival. Princess Gisla returns with the sacred banner in her arms. She gives it back to the men of the cloth. She congratulates the Emperor on his victory, and the mass continues. Gisla is a little too smug.

There are numerous wounds to be mended. The Vikings have lost many. Helga tends those that she can. Ragnar drags his son back and everyone moves out of his way.

Above Kattegat, Poruun looks down over the village one last time before leaving.

Princess Aslaug finds the crying baby.

Lagertha rushes to her son's side, but there is no prognosis for him yet. She asks Ragnar what happened and he tells her that Bjorn was proving that you don't need a title to be a leader. Rollo rushes to his nephew's side. He thinks Ragnar should not have allowed him to climb the ladder. Bjorn was being a man, and Ragnar thinks that they should let him be one. Rollo saw how close they came, and next time they cannot make the same mistakes.

Floki stands with his body immersed in the water. Helga comes out to see what he is doing. Floki has come prepared to face the others. She wants to know why. He thinks that the gods have come to punish him. Everything he did, has done was for the Gods. Helga tells him that it is not all about him. She's unsure how she is suppose to live with what she knows. Floki doesn't want her to be angry with him. He's selfish, only thinking of himself. Floki denies it, frantic. He thinks about everyone in Mitgard. Helga leaves as Floki begs her to come back, but she doesn't heed his desperate cries.

Lagertha cleans up as Kalf comes to check on her. She's alive. He takes the cloth from her hand, and helps wash her. He knows that she wants to hate him, but can't. She's not sure she can't. He tells her that all he knows is that he desires her, wants to be with her. He kisses her, and she returns it for a moment, but is unsure she can believe him. She asks what if she accepts what he has to say, decides to be with him, but she will never forgive him for usurping her earldom, and one day she promises to kill him. If he can accept that condition, then they can be together. She kisses him, moves to undress him, but lets him decide if he can accept her offer. He can definitely accept her offer.

Bjorn wakes up to Ragnar peeing blood. Bjorn teases that he should have never called him that, Ironside, as if the gods are protecting him. The fact that he's still living should be proof enough. He lived through the battle. Bjorn only did what his instincts told him to do, he asks the next step. Before he makes any decisions he needs to speak to an old friend.

Ragnar heads out into the open, and calls to his old friend, hoping that he is not talking to himself. He wonders if he went too far with Floki, if Floki really thought he would let him lead without an agenda. Ragnar thinks that if he were Floki he should worry less about the Gods and more about the fury of man. Ragnar coughs up blood, never a good sign. He lies back on the ground. He wishes Athelstan were there, Paris is everything he told him it would be, and he is bound and more determined than ever to conquer it.

iZombie S01E04 Recap: Liv and Let Clive

Good Cop/Bad Cop/Undead Detective

Story by @ErikaAshley

Blaine and his undead girlfriend Jackie do their best to look alive by using her wealth to fake tan and dye their hair a lively shade. On the other side of town Liv drops by Major’s and he seems a little on edge checking the stairs every couple of seconds. When she asks about Eddie and Jerome he says now they’re both missing just as a half-naked Corinne, Major’s new girlfriend, comes down the stairs and causes an awkward meeting. Liv quickly excuses herself and heads over to the morgue where the newest John Doe is an Asian gang member with missing molars and sans-fingertips. Just as Liv is about to saw open her lunch her brother pops up to collect the keys to her place since he’ll be crashing there while Peyton is out of town.

When Detective Babineaux, also known as Clive, shows up to see the newest victim on the table he recognizes the John Doe as Sammy Wong, a previous acquaintance. Liv offers to help Clive right away but he cuts her short telling her he can handle the situation on his own. Suddenly Liv has a flashback from Sammy’s memory and witnesses Clive beating an Asian man while threatening to the do the same to Sammy if he gets involved. When Clive notices that Liv must have had vision he asks her what she saw. She tries to play it off as she didn’t see or know anything, but clearly she’s shaken. After Clive leaves Liv goes into a paranoid tizzy trying to rationalize why Clive doesn’t want their help on the case. She assumes it’s because he’s a dirty cop and Ravi tries to settle her nerves by suggesting since lunch she’s been acting extremely paranoid, since she does become what she eats. Liv retorts that she might be over reacting but not when it comes to Major and Corinne. She then has the bright idea that Ravi should move in with Major since he’s having roommate issues and to keep Corinne from moving in with him. Ravi quickly declines the offer and insists he needs his privacy.

Somewhere in the city Blaine visits a butcher shop where he heads to the back and meets up with his fresh zombie recruits that are now working for him. He’s setup a new business hustling brains to new zombies mostly that he’s turned. While Blaine makes his money, Liv visits Vice, Clive’s old stomping ground. She starts to question his previous partner and she gives Liv some insight into who Clive was in his past. Paranoia consumes her and she because persistent with the urge to solve this case on her own and prove Clive is a dirty cop. She drags Ravi to the video store she saw in her vision and asks to see Ray, the beaten man from her vision. Liv acts like a ditzy slut trying to meet up with a past hookup. She has another flashback to Clive meeting up in the video store but when she comes back to the present instead of Ray another Asian gang member appears.

AJ introduces himself and asks Liv what she wants with Ray. Just as Ravi tries to get more information from AJ Liv compliments his blue cobra tattoo and Ravi gets the hint that they’re gang members. They cut the conversation short and when they leave the video store they see Clive entering. Liv goes back home but is even more paranoid and asks her brother Evan to look at the window. He notices her unusual behavior and attributes it to drug use but she denies smoking weed. She instructs him to keep a watch out while she showers. Elsewhere, Blaine’s two zombie grunts work themselves up about having to do the dirty work while Blaine makes tons of money off of rich people he turns into zombies. One suggests they go into business for themselves and they have all the information they need to get started. Back at Liv’s she gets out of the shower and asks her brother for an update when she finds Clive in her living room next to her brother not looking pleased.

Clive tries to convince Liv again to leave the case alone. Major drops by the morgue to talk to Ravi about the room. Ravi plays along but tries to bomb his impromptu interview that Liv has set up for him unknowingly. Dante and the other zombie grunt deliver fresh brains to Jackie and propose a new business relationship pitching their idea to sell brains at half the cost. She’s surprised at their entrepreneurship as she only took them as a couple of meathead delivery boys. She entertains their offer but says she’ll need to think about it. Liv goes to the morgue and finds Major and Ravi hitting it off and agreeing on a move in date. Liv tells Ravi about Clive’s threat and they go over new clues.

Acting on her paranoia and against Ravi’s wishes she tries to put a tracking device on Clive’s cart when she sees a Blue Cobra gang member and takes off running. While running away she runs into a bum’s cart and falls to the ground and has another vision. This time she sees Sammy’s murder where AJ stomps his face in for telling him that the cops know what’s going on. Liv jumps up and has an epiphany that she now knows Kung Fu. She also sees Clive leaving in his car but jumps in front of his vehicle and tells him that she knows Ray is an undercover cop and so does the Blue Cobras and they have to save him. Clive tells her that Ray was his partner while they were undercover and she really should have stayed out of it because now she’s put herself at danger. He calls his old Vice partner and gets a team together to intercept Ray at the airport before the Blue Cobras get to him. He tells her to head home and he’ll handle the situation. Back at Blaine’s butcher shop he eliminates his new competition and takes a fresh set of zombie grunts from his deep freezer. Liv calls Clive to check in and she apologizes for not trusting him. When she hangs up she hears a creak in her empty apartment and goes to investigate and is attacked by AJ. He throws her across the room and insists that she’s a cop.

AJ begins to beat on Liv but her new found Kung Fu skills kick in and she fends off AJ as she breaks out her new crouching tiger hidden dragon. He gets the upper hand but Evan arrives and AJ goes to handle him when Liv goes full zombie and attacks AJ. Evan catches Liv beating him but she plays it off. Clive arrives and other cops take AJ away. Clive tries to explain himself to Liv about his past and she apologizes again. Ravi moves into Major’s place and he allows her another chance at friendship. Ravi tells Liv that Major knows what she’s up to by having him move in and she tries to act dumb. Over at Blaine’s butcher shop his newly thawed thug helps to harvest a brain from a familiar fellow.

This episode was by far the best because for once the voiceover was almost completely left out, aside from the beginning. Undead living looks good on Blaine, mostly because he’s used to the dark side of life and hustling is his forte. It’s an interesting storyline to have a previous drug pusher now a brain pusher and doing what he does best. The additional storyline brings another eliminate that is much needed and refreshing. I’m excited to see where this continues evolving and intertwining.

David Ayer Shows Off His #SuicideSquad

The director posts the first group photo, but one big question remains.

Story by Matt Cummings

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice prepping its first trailer to premiere in May with Mad Max: Fury Road and other news whetting the appetites of fans everywhere, DC's other hot property Suicide Squad has been making their own waves as well. On Tuesday, Director David Ayer posted this photo of the first read-through for the film:

Pictured in the photo are Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) and a few new additions. This week, we also learned that Adam Beach and Ike Barinholtz (also pictured) have joined as Ravan and Doctor Hugo Strange respectively. Apparently, Joe Manigianello is also out as Deathstroke, replaced by Jim Parrack (pictured on right with the hat).

The big question is why Jared Leto (The Joker) is absent. Of course, one could assume that Ayer doesn't want to tip his hand as to the size of The Joker, which several reports have claimed that he's adding weight and a green hair color to the role. Besides, DC loves to promote its films with big reveals, so don't be surprised if we begin to see elements of The Joker begin to pop up on Ayer's Twitter account.

As for the movie itself, rumors are that Suicide Squad is set between 2013's Man of Steel and 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and will focus on the relationship between Batman and The Joker. It's set for an August 5, 2016 release just 5 months before Dawn arrives on March 25th. Two movies so close to one another also signals that the films will mostly likely feed off one another, setting the stage for some big plots moving forward.

What are you looking for from a Suicide Squad movie? Are you happy with the cast David Ayer has assembled? Comment below and join the conversation!

“When kids play with LEGO bricks, they build beyond the singular brands, intermixing all of their favorite characters and universes, and we have come up with a way for players to experience that in games,” said Jon Burton, Founder and Creative Director, TT Games. “Now for the first time in a videogame, LEGO fans can play in the virtual world and in the real world – combining everything without restrictions. Imagine putting LEGO Gollum from The Lord of the Rings behind the wheel of the LEGO DeLorean Time Machine in New Ninjago City – the creative play is endless.”

“Building on TT Games’ track record for exceptionally popular, engaging games, LEGO Dimensions expands our LEGO videogame franchise with a breakthrough, immersive interactive entertainment experience that will redefine the toys to life games category,” said Jeff Junge, Senior Vice President, LEGO Franchise and TT Games, Warner Bros. Entertainment. “LEGO Dimensions will bring fans innovative and joyful gameplay with an amazing mash-up of huge brands in both the physical and digital worlds.”

“LEGO Dimensions is unlike anything that we have ever done. It further extends the LEGO play experience into the digital world with all of the characters, humor and action of LEGO videogames now combined with the fun of LEGO minifigure and model building,” said Niels Jørgensen, Vice President, Digital Games for the LEGO Group. “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with TT Games to explore ways in which physical and digital LEGO play can merge in meaningful ways for children.”

In addition to the three minifigure heroes used to start the experience, LEGO Dimensions will allow gamers to customize their experience with additional expansion packs. Highly collectible Level Packs, Team Packs and Fun Packs will provide new buildable characters, vehicles, tools and gadgets, as well as compelling game content with new mission-based levels and unique in-game abilities. All expansion packs will feature well-known properties and provide gamers the opportunity to use everything interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game – with no limitations.

A small sample of packs available in 2015 include the Back to the Future Level Pack with a LEGO Marty McFly minifigure, a LEGO Ninjago Team Pack with Kai and Cole minifigures, three Ninjago Fun Packs with Jay, Nya and Zane minifigures, two DC Comics Fun Packs with Wonder Woman and Cyborg minifigures, three The Lord of the Rings Fun Packs with LEGO Gollum, LEGO Gimli and LEGO Legolas minifigures, four The LEGO Movie Fun packs with Emmet, Bad Cop, Benny and Unikitty characters, and a The Wizard of Oz Fun Pack with a LEGO Wicked Witch of the West minifigure. Additional packs to round out the 2015 assortment will be announced in the months leading to launch. Further waves of expansion packs will be released regularly following the launch of the game and into 2016.

LEGO Dimensions not only offers a bridge between digital and physical LEGO play, but also introduces a digital system of play with great long-term value for LEGO gaming. One LEGO Toy Pad, LEGO Gateway and the videogame found in the initial Starter Pack will offer endless opportunities to customize a player’s experience for years to come. Future expansion pack purchases will continue to work with the Starter Pack, even in the fall of next year. No compatibility chart necessary.
